    Tiny bag of small branches & leaves Fred's Chimney Magic sweeps demanded $239.95 to remove

    Fred's Chimney Magic refused to honor the "Groupon" promotion they advertised for a fireplace cleaning and inspection, claiming I had a "nest" in my flue. This "nest", as it turned out, consisted of a small shopping bag full of leaves and small branches (see photo below). Removing such small amounts of debris is part of any standard seasonal chimney cleaning. Not only did they try to charge me five times more that what I agreed to pay for the service prior to scheduling a service visit, they tried to upsell me on additional chimney work which had nothing to do with the basic cleaning and safety inspection I paid for (big red flag). Moreover, the two chimney sweeps they sent couldn't have looked more unhappy to be there. No sooner did they arrive for the appointment, that they bolted into my house as if someone were chasing them--obviously looking to do a quick rush job, with literally zero effort made to explain any aspect of the process to the homeowner. They immediately seemed exasperated and jabbered to each other nervously, as if I were not even there. I felt uncomfortable with the situation from start to finish, as I could tell from the outset, based on their behavior alone, that they had no intention of cleaning our chimney that day without extorting a considerably higher fee from us. When we refused to fork over the extra money for their "nest removal service", they abruptly begged off the job and then quickly departed, visibly annoyed. To make things worse, the service was scheduled just four days before Christmas, which means that we were nearly deprived of the use of our fireplace over the holidays as a result of this highly regrettable incident. Fortunately, we were able to get another Chimney sweep out to our residence that same day on extreme short notice, who promptly ascended onto our roof and brushed out our chimney for one hundred dollars less than what this company tried to charge us for the same service. See the dated photo below showing the safely working fireplace exactly one day later . There was such a pronounced lack of professionalism evident in the way the visit was conducted by this company, that I could never in good conscience recommend their services to others, nor hire them for any further work on my chimney. When I do decide to have maintenance work done on my chimney (repointing, caulking, and a new chimney cap) in the near future, I definitely won't be dealing with this company. In my sincere opinion, they just can't be trusted.

I am going into month 3 of having a nonfunctioning, unuseable outdoor kitchen which still remains a half built shell on my back deck because Sal sold me a damaged, subpar outdoor kitchen which he refuses to provide any level of customer service! This business owner cares about one thing and one thing only... HIMSELF! He does not care what happens to you after your check or credit card clears! As seen in the attached image, Sal from NYC fireplaces has revoked even the smallest simplest gesture of customer service since I wrote a negative review! This man thinks his word is all that matters in this world and does not believe that actions speak louder than words! Another tit for tat expectation from a shotty self centered looser of a business owner! RUN RUN RUN from this company! Go to absolutely anyone else! This man is a thief. This man is a corrupt business owner. My credit card company says numerous people have opened claims against this man! Even the OEM manufacturer of the kitchen island has said they will be refusing to allow this man to represent their company moving forward! Do not fall for all his positive reviews! They are admitted friends who he has leveraged to boost his scores!

They had the best price I could find online which is why I went with them. A few days after the order I realized I had made a mistake - I ordered a dual fuel wood/natural gas oven, when I actually needed dual fuel wood/propane. I called and spoke to Luca who immediately made the change in their system. The oven was delivered the next day and the delivery person was extremely courteous and helpful. Again, I made another mistake. I forgot to order the stand to put the pizza oven on. I called Luca again and he took payment for the stand and offered to waive the FedEx costs since I paid for assembly initially. That would have been great customer service already, but to go a step further, Luca called me back and said they would put it on a truck and deliver it that same day. Such a great experience!

We moved into a home with 3 gas fireplaces so on occasion we need service. A contractor working on our home turned off the gas in our den fireplace. I knew how to restart my other two fireplaces, but the den unit was electronic. The service fee was $295 which seemed outrageous but let me continue. The tech, Geraldo (Jerry) came in. He wore booties from the front door to my interior. He laid out a quilted drop cloth and began the process of starting my fireplace. After getting the fireplace running, he shut it down and carefully removed the glass panel, disassembled the decorative logs, vacuumed with a filtered shop vac, then windexed the glass before reassembling the unit. At every turn, Jerry was precise and took incredible pride in his work. I had questions about operating the remote which he expertly explained. I asked how much training he received and he explained it was extensive. I absolutely marveled at how good the service call was. I hope the company realizes how good Jerry is and wish all my service experiences in life were similar.

We were shown all of our options and the gentleman that helped us showed us all the different styles of doors. He went through each step and helped us to pick out all the details from handles to hinges. The installation was very neat and beautifully done. Before our fireplace was just a black hole and now it is beautiful with black doors with silver accents. It adds so much to the living room and we are so happy with all the help and service we received from Westbury Stove & Fireplace.

    I decided to check out converting from a wood-burning fireplace to gas. I'm too old to continue…read moredealing with firewood and ashes. So I googled fireplace conversions in Nassau County and the Fireplace Factory in Bellmore was the first listing. I called and spoke to Jocelyn who suggested I talk to Tom. I told him what I wanted. We discussed pricing and other options. I made an appointment and went there with pictures of what I have in my living room. I couldn't believe how many choices there are. Tom was wonderful! My house isn't set up for a fireplace which would heat the room, so I looked at the ones that were decorative. I found a very nice white birch model which would be perfect. I signed a contract and was on my way. I needed a plumber to make the conversion. Rather than choosing one of my own, I went with their plumbers, Clearway Plumbing and Heating in Blue Point. They were awesome. They were upstairs, downstairs, outside and inside, making all the necessary connections with my gas line. They spent an afternoon here and when they were finished, my house was immaculate. The next step was having the insert installed. There were several glitches trying to schedule a time, but Tom took care of it for me. The actual set up is done by Chris, who's been installing fireplaces for 31 years. When he was finished, he handed me a remote control for my new gas fireplace! Push a button to turn it on. Push a button to turn it off. Wow! A big thumbs up to the Fireplace Factory, their staff, their plumbers and their installer. My fireplace is beautiful, and I couldn't be happier!

    I reached out to the Fireplace Factory and made an appointment for a consultation. We had an…read moreexisting fireplace that never worked since we purchased the home and wanted to 1) install a new gas unit to replace the old defective unit and 2) new mantle that fit the decor of our home and added safety for the little ones that play in that area. We started with a consultation with David who did a great job helping us pick a unit and mantle design. We signed a contract with an expected turnaround time of 6-8 weeks taking us to March. This was an important point for us as we have a 4 year old and needed this done quickly to minimize the disruption to her space. The project wrapped up this week (May) due to multiple delays related to their suppliers and sub contractors. Communication with the Project Manager assigned to this project was not great and I found myself following up quite often and being given information that was incorrect related to scheduling. This was the most frustrating part and only reason the review isn't five stars. One thing I'd point out; both David and the owner were responsive when I ended up escalating the delays. However, there wasn't much they could do to remedy the situation, but I appreciate they were responsive. Overall, I would recommend Fireplace Factory as the quality of work was great. Also the workers that came into our home were very professional and did a fantastic job keeping the space clean and with the overall quality. We are super excited with the end result and can't wait for the Fall to start using this often. I'd caution to give yourself a good amount of buffer for the completion date of the project. I was told this was an unusual experience, but as it's my only one, I can't validate if that is true or not.
