My father in law has taken his vehicle to Fred's in Wentzville regularly for quite a while. When I bought it from him, I continued to take it to Wentzville and was always very happy with the svc I received. When I figured out they had a st charles location I was happy because it was closer to home. The car was overheating so I took it to them. The said they ran a pressure test, it was my head gasket(s), and would cost me $6000.00 to fix. I then took it to another mechanic who ran a pressure test that clearly showed it was just a water pump and it cost me under $500. So they either never ran a pressure test, and just made something up, or they have no idea what they are doing! Either way, I will NEVER give them another dime of my money. read more

I have a 1999 Dodge pickup I often drive to our MO farm with. Had a warning at a gas station it appeared to be leaking fluid. I could not get the hood up. I drove to Fred's mostly because they were close. So glad I did. After only a few minutes wait the manager and mechanic came out to check the truck. The mechanic checked every thing and reassured me I could drive safely home. No charge! Definitely stop again! If stranded on I 70 going to them! read more

Wanted to schedule an oil change/tire rotation within a week. Guy on the phone said it was impossible. No problem, so I schedule it for 2 weeks out. Guy on the phone still talks like it would be a real pain for them to fit me in (for a 30 min service) but he could make it work. The morning of my appointment, guy on the phone calls to say he needs to push my appointment back an hour. Sure, I've already made enough mistakes so lets make some more. Within 5 mins of me showing up, he says my tires are too big to rotate. Which makes me wonder how they do any services involving removing the tires. Im there, so I get what I can get and get out. This is after I've learned that he bumped my appointment for a bigger payout customer. Find out later that multiple valve stem caps are missing on top of the astronomical oil change price of $75. read more

I have been coming here for years. They are good guys and never treat me bad. They are honest and trustworthy.

What scam artist! In fact most shops are. Charged me 1500 to replace three motor mounts( which in fact, replaced one) had other work done under car and have video of the two out of the three) mounts were the original factory mounts. Besides that he said he replaced my cv axle and boot. Charged me 600 for the assembly alone not counting labor. Also have on video that my cv axle was never replaced, he just put a new boot on it. Which what cost 10 bucks. My car was still all over the road. Took it to another shop whom told me it was my bearings. Tried charging me 2000. Saying I needed a new knuckle, hub, caliper, rotor and bearings and of course some windshield wipers. $ 2019.89 was the quote to fix what they said was wrong with it. This is after Freds ripped me off. just trying to get my car fixed, went to Firestone whom told me 2000.00 for work that wasn't even close to being what the real problem was!! Shit, my knuckle, hub, calipers, rotors and brakes were just fine( of course they had todo both side) couldn't just do one when dealing with brakes! Lol. It wound up being my inner tie rods and my cv joint going into tranny! You know how many quotes ( with them all telling me something different) how much money I spent for these asshole so called mechanics to not even fi my car. Jesus, what a great time to be or have your own Auto repair shop!! You pricks are ripping people off left and right. JTo spend what Freds? Maybe 50 bucks and make 1500. Damn, that hella money. Look, Firestone wouldn't of had to spend a dime and their profit was 2000. And don't even fix the problems. They look under there and guesstimate what they can make the most money on. And people are so stupid. Most of the time they just get the car back thinking they must know what they are doing, they are mechanics. So we don't say anything and the car suddenly breaks down or wheel flies off and they take it back into the reliable car shop, with great mechanics to get fucked over all over again!!!!! By the way, a friend of mine and me did the auto work. The car finally drives like a dream with parts being a little over 120.00! So Freds Sucks! Firestone off of west Clay sucks! Heard decent things about this place but had a bad experience. The manager was rude when my girlfriend dropped off our vehicle and didn't seem to pay attention to her. Later when there was a dispute over what parts to use, he called her a liar. Additionally, I found a large blue scratch on my passenger front door when picking up the vehicle. I was told since it didn't happen in the shop, they weren't responsible for it. It was a very poor experience overall. The price was decent, but not worth it when considering the level of customer service I experienced. I would not recommend this location. read more

I've had some recent car emergencies, and Fred's has gone above and beyond. As someone without any family nearby,, their shuttle service has been a godsend to ensure I can still get to work without major disruptions. Even when I haven't made an appointment, they've fit me in to their busy schedule. And as a young woman, I've never felt they've jacked up the prices. Awesome service. Reliable and very professional. I didn't feel like these guys were trying to suck money out of me, they did exactly what I asked for, nothing more or less. While waiting for my truck to be worked on, I talked with Chris pretty much the whole time and he was giving me lots of tips and pointers about my truck that I had just purchased. Really nice guy! Brought my car in 5 months ago due to it dying while at a stop light/stop sign. Apparently, the parts to fix it properly and to keep it running without having this issue are obsolete. I wasn't told this until I had to bring the car back a second time when it started acting up again. I had to spend money on Uber to get back and forth to work while they looked into the issue for a second time only to be told that Ford no longer makes the parts to fix the issue. I am upset that I was charged $1,100 in the first place when they Chris/Scott told me my car was fixed. They offered free labor to fix the issue if I could find the parts on ebay etc... Well, come to find out the parts are like finding a needle in a haystack. When I called back to let Scott know I am still having issues with my car and cannot find the parts on ebay etc... He offers to take another look at my car on Monday, March 11th and requests that I drop it off that day. Uhm, I work and cannot afford Uber right now. So, he states contact us back when you can drop it off. I call back today, March 13th and speak with Chris. Chris proceeds to tell me there's nothing else that can be done without the so called "plastic runner" parts that are obsolete. Long story short I request a refund as the issue I brought my car in for was never fixed. It's intermittently still having the same issue. The service engine soon light is illuminating and it will not pass inspection. Now, I am being told the shop changed ownership and someone will call me back about my receiving any sort of refund.
