I bought new tires here and the next day when I went out to the car I had a flat. Turns out they didn't put the valve stem in right. So now I'm a month in to my tires and they have less than 500 miles on them . I had a sidewall blow out . I'm somewhere else now getting a replacement put on. On Monday I'm going in to see what sort of warranty they can offer for the bad tire. I will update this review after they either do the right thing or shaft me. read more

Caught a screw in my tire after work. Needed to find a cheap tire to replace. Yelp recommended Tire man, local gas station recommended Tire man and a stranger overhearing my convo recommended this place. I showed up about 20 mins before close and got everything taken care of. Had a puncture in one of my tires and was recommended to Fred's as it was the best rated shop in the area. I wanted to have all tires replaced. The management was friendly, and charged a fair price. In an hour, I came to pick up my car, but instead of switching all the tires, only the punctured one had been replaced. Upon discovery of this error, went back to the shop and the management apologized and promised to remedy the situation. When we returned, the three new tires were slightly different models of the same brand and were not aligned properly nor were they balanced to the car's computer. Though they did the job with no added cost, and were apologetic, the experience has shown a real disconnect between the management and the workers, as well as a lack of thoroughness. read more

Been there a number of times over the years, and things seem to often be hit and miss. So If possible - do some tire price comparisons before you go, and consider getting a "second opinion" when it comes to any repairs you may be considering. Fred's generally isn't overly "gougy" when it comes to most of their tire sales, but they can sure soak you on the repair side. That's disappointing to me because most of their customers are local Ojai Valley residents who prefer to keep their business local. I recently got a repair quote of nearly $1,000.00 on a relatively simple ball joint replacement job on a 22 year old 2WD 1/2 ton pickup truck. Needless to say I "passed". Another shop quote for the same job was $400.00 less at about $600.00, but ultimately I just decided to do it myself for about $125.00 - which included all the replacement parts and a few tools I needed, but didn't already have. read more

The price was fine and service was quick, but I got 4 all new brand tires because I was driving up to Portland. The person who put on my tires forgot to tighten the valve stem on one tire. So I had a slow leak in my tires on most of the drive, which is dangerous. And I came out the next morning in Ashland OR, to notice my brand new tire was flat. I had take the tire in only to find out about the mistake whoever put on my tire made. Luckily it didn't deflate too much on the drive or else it could have caused an accident. read more

Took my rotors here to get turned since was changing my brake pads, dropped them off to have them turned, went back and picked them up put them back on with the new brake pads put everything back together. When to take my car to wear the new pads in once hit the brakes had a lot of fluctuation in my brake pedal. Before I had them turned there was no pedal play got the play once they got cut, had to go out and buy new rotors. I would not go here to have any kind of rotors or drums turned read more

Had my wife take her SUV in for an alignment (because they are close). She got a call saying some parts needed to be replaced before they could align it. I said not to do the repairs or the alignment, that I would check it out myself. After looking at it everything seemed to be fine. I took the SUV to another shop today. Drove in on the mini spare to have a flat fixed. When I got the car back I noticed the cover in the trunk wasn't sitting down correctly. Checked the spare and discovered my mini tire was gone and they had mounted an oversized worn-out tire on my mini spare rim. When I confronted them they first tried to tell me the spare I came in on was defective. When I pointed out the fact I drove in on it and it only had four miles on it from new (and that I was about to call the police) they quickly found my correct tire and remounted it. I've never been disappointed of Tire Man's work or the way they run their business, until today. The short Hispanic man behind the desk was extremely rude and the mechanic Carlos was very careless about the way he works/inspects vehicles. Walked in to get another quote after the first time they put me off. The guy behind the counter got really defensive when I asked about another quote since no one called me back on my last one, he snaps back saying he had no idea what I was talking about and how I talked to another person about the previous quote which isn't true since I talked to him and Fred. Not only that but when they did give me the quote this time, it was to replace everything. Which is obviously there solution to fixing a leak instead of finding it which I did when I got home. it seems to me either they didn't want to work on my vehicle or two they don't have a skilled mechanic to work on older vehicles so they want to just replace everything with new. read more
