I feel like he always explains what is going on with my car in a way that I can understand. I'm able to prioritize what I need done and work around my finances until I can get everything but absolutely needs to be done. When my Fiat was having issues with a code, I took it to two other mechanics who could not diagnose it and one I tried to fix it. They didn't. JT's fix the problem and it has not reoccurred since then. He worked with my insurance, your mercury, and helped me get the work done. When my other friend had a problem with her transmission, she was quoted by one mechanic is it going to cost $700. I moved to Florida from Ventura county and regularly drive my vehicle back and forth. On my last drive to the west coast I noticed a coolant leak coming from my van. Knowing I had to drive over 2500 miles to get back home to Florida it was very important to have my car running reliability (especially as I'd have to drive through the desert and Texas). I took my vehicle to JT's to have my coolant system fixed and some maintenance items included at the same time, such as a new water pump and timing belt. I got a couple quotes from different shops in the area and JT's was the best price and I had a good feeling about getting the work done There. JT's was also able to work with my very short timeline as I had to make the return trip soon. I picked up the vehicle in the short time frame with no issues. After driving the vehicle around for a couple days around town I wanted him to take a second look at the cooling system, just to make sure everything was in perfect working order. He took the van in immediately and fixed the small issue, which was covered with the warranty he offers. We finished our trip driving across the country and the van ran flawlessly with no issues at all (while pulling a trailer). I'm a little confused as to how this place has four stars, especially after reading some of the negative reviews. Personally, my husband and I opted out of using this business due to the unprofessional inquiry call we made. The person we spoke to on the phone was snippy, sighed loudly at my questions and said he didn't like to waste his time. We're fully aware the work needed is going to cost a couple thousand, so tough luck on him for missing that opportunity. JT's Automotive: Good work, fair price, but now I'm missing change? My fiance and I brought in her daily driver with some pretty serious issues (had a short which was causing an engine misfire). Joe was our point of contact and he helped us diagnose what was happening and gave us a $1900 estimate. I, myself, work in the automotive industry and recognized that the estimate for the work we would be getting done seemed reasonable. They ended up needing the car for an entire 3 days (1.5x longer than expected) which was a slight inconvenience but not the end of the world, especially for how helpful Joe had been to us to this point. I like to give my mechanics as much time as they need to ensure that I am not getting a rushed final product. The work done has only been completed for a day so there have been no issues observed after the work they have done as of now. For that we are thankful. My issue arises with the approximately $3 of quarters that have gone missing since we picked up the car as well as a couple of my light gray interior panels that now have a layer of grease on them. To rephrase that, a minimum of 12 quarters have gone missing from my fiance's coin storage. I am by no means accusing Joe of taking them, I just know for certain they were there when we dropped off the car as those quarters get set aside for our laundry. Normally I would remove valuables from my vehicles before taking them to get worked on, but this was an emergency and we just took it straight there not thinking anything of it. My fiance did give the shop a call once we noticed and they let us know that none of the work they do is inside the vehicle. We searched high and low before writing this just to give JT's the benefit of the doubt, but with the bill that we paid, I would expect my change inside our vehicle to not go missing whether it was stolen or simply and innocently knocked out of the car. Aside from this, I am satisfied with their expertise and am grateful that such a significant mechanical problem was taken care of. read more

Incompetent mechanics, overpriced labor rate, and unprofessional service! I took my car in to get the steering fixed. My car veers to the right when driving. So I asked for a wheel alignment and check out the steering system to see what's wrong. I booked an appointment for Monday, then the job got "done " on a Wednesday despite the owner Joe saying that it's gonna be done the same day. Joe is an outright liar. I asked him on the phone if they do wheel alignments, he said yes but he doesn't actually have a wheel alignment machine in his shop. He just takes it to another shop to get it done, and he marks up the price. He is absolutely unprofessional, takes an average 10 times for me to call before they even answer the phone. They don't check their voicemail and don't even give you a courtesy call back to let you know the estimate and situation of your car. Joe upsells a lot for BS unnecessary service. He said he tested my battery and found it to be a bad battery because the cells wouldn't hold a charge. I took my 1 year old AGM (best type of car battery) to autozone where I bought it from and got it tested for free. The autozone guy showed me the result of the test, it was a good battery! Joe was also trying to upsell me some unnecessary tune up that cost almost $500! What a scam! I had to return my car because the steering didn't get fixed. Then he said the rims and tires where wobbling and needed to get replaced, that's why the steering veered to the right. They never even test drive my car after it was "done", what a scam! Why the heck didn't the mechanic see that the first time around? Because the mechanics are incompetent, I bet they're not even ASE certified mechanics! Just a bunch of amateurs. They charged me $110 for the wheel alignment (only costs $40 at Rudos Tires), their hourly rate for labor is $110/hour which is way overpriced! Never again! Learn from my mistake folks. I'm an honest, hard working, active duty military and they scammed me like this. Joe is like a used car salesman, he loves to talk and act nice but at the same time actually robbing you. A classic conman. I wasted $333 of my hard earned dollars and wasted so much time and hassle of getting a ride because my car was in their shop for 3 days. I took my car to Rudos tires and they fixed the steering problem way cheaper and way faster! Took only about 2 hours. People should not support an unethical car shop like JT's Automotive! Took my car here running, no codes and computer was working. Took to drop new engine in car. After new engine was dropped had to go back 4times with additional charges. Truly disappointed 4 k down the drain. Mechanic did not offer any solution or refund to the problem. I originally came here for an oil change from Groupon. The mechanics were friendly, and understanding also the puppy in the shop is super sweet. I knew I was in need of tires but unfortunately it can be very pricy so I haven't gotten around changing them. JT automotive has very reasonable price on tires. Excellent service for an excellent price! Brought my Altima in for an oil change and was warmly greeted welcomed by Milo. Even though I arrived before they were officially open for business I was offered coffee and pleasant conversation. I was so impressed by JT's Automotive that after my car was done I went home and brought in my wife's car for the same service. During the service of my wife's car they pointed out to me that whoever did my wife's previous oil change used the wrong oil filter, which could have caused extensive mechanical damage had it not been corrected. Joe is the most personable dude ever, and it's he's not doing it to swindle you, he's just a great guy. Prices are still as low as he can possibly get them to be. Plus I trust him, not something you can say about many people in the automotive industry. I was iffy initially due to a single review from a customer who wrote a bad review but decided to see the place for myself based on the other positive reviews. In short, Jose is knowledgeable, understanding, and supportive. My first time there to get an oil change, they notified me that I should get some work done such as an engine flush, wheel assignment, etc. Obviously I was skeptical but knew my car didn't have any major work on it for a few years. They explained every part to me. They showed me on my car how the wheels were getting worn down. They showed me where my engine oil was starting to change color and walked me through the entire process. They knew it would cost a pretty penny but notified me that the work I get from them has a warranty and should anything not work, to let them know immediately and they will fix it. They also had some discounts they could offer me once I asked. I left with my car a few hours later and loved the experience. They happened to accidentally give me another customer's oil change sticker (the one they put on the window of every car) but that isn't a big deal. It was really busy that day. I've been there once more and will continue to go there so long as I work in Oxnard. read more

Nice guy, good customer service, but made a lot of mistakes on my car. I brought my car to him to do some basic tuneups on my car and replace the head gaskets. He originally told me it would only take two days. My car ended up being in his shop for a whole week! Everytime I called he kept telling "am working on it" or "the wrong part was ordered". When I finally got my car back, two days later the check engine light came on. I called him and went back to him. I a waited over two hours just to speak to him. After the second hour I took it as a red flag and realize I don't want to wait another week for my car. He either doesn't have the time or doesn't care. As i said earlier nice guy, but if you are not ok with waiting over a week for mediocre work I suggest you look elsewhere read more
