I bring my Tacoma to Roy for everything from oil changes and tire rotations to tire purchases and major work (they just replaced my clutch). Speedy, friendly, and honest. Cash is preferred but they do take cards without any hassle. In a decent location too, if you need an oil change and they have the time, you can be in and out in the time that it takes to run down the street for a few tacos. Go somewhere else. Online price for used tires says $20 plus they offer a student discount. So I had my college age/on a budget call and ask for a quote. Upset she called saying they quoted her $98 PER USED TIRE installed. I've tried this place before and felt ripped off and undermined but the online deal swayed me back. Called my tire go to Big Brand Tires who was able to keep my daughter safe and on the road (less worry for Mom) for $98 for BOTH NEW front tires installed. Maybe the owner has a lot of local buddies posting 5 star reviews but this local family will not support a local business that doesn't act like one. read more

This is a secret place that seems to be well guarded by locals. I lived in the area for a couple years before I found it. It's locally-owned and operated. You can tell they do good work as pretty every fleet in the area has vehicles there being serviced. I was able to buy Goodyears for my car for the same price as no-name tires at a chain store. I also saved about 25% on the price of my all-synthetic oil change over anyplace else I've found. The best part is that they don't nickle and dime you. This is my review of Avenue Tire...I was referred by a close friend well over a decade ago and was told to contact Roy Springer ( The Owner ). As most of us know finding an HONEST MECHANIC is very hard to do and I put it up there with finding a Great Doctor, Lawyer, and yes even your Significant Other. Most Mechanics out there will rip you off blind, especially folks like me who took home economics with the pretty girls in H.S., rather than Auto Shop. I have literally saved Thousands of $$$ going to Avenue Tire. Avenue Tire & Service Honesty is simply put, AMAZING!! Many times I have taken my car to the Toyota Dealership and various Independent mechanics through out Midtown & West Ventura, whether it be a brake job, my sun roof not working (thanks Toyota of Ventura for trying to rip me off for $700 extra dollars), and various other auto supposed problems that these so called honest mechanics added on to their estimate. When I went to Roy with the estimate he would say nope don't need that done yet, What the heck are they adding this for ( for that part was fine ), and he would always do the job at least 20% less and many times 50% less than what I was quoted at other mechanics shops. There are a few other honest mechanics in town, but they are far and few between. This is what I suggest ... take your car to a mechanic, have them print out the estimate, and then take it to Roy...he usually can just quote you over the phone, but I like to go in person for the surprise of finding out how much the dishonest mechanics were going to screw me for!!! His staff is very Courteous & Knowledgeable from his Son, Royal Jr (Watch out Roy Sr. he's going to be better than you soon)....and George, Sean, & Nate. If something goes goofy later on, they are more than happy to take care of it for you. I also see folks in the neighborhood stopping by to get their oil checked or air put in their tires...and never a whine heard from any of their workers, just a smile. Lots of out of towner's are referred to them as well, which speaks volumes. My car broke down in SB and Roy got me a Great Price from one of the local tow shops on Da' Avenue...beat Triple A by over 50%. That is my point ... I was willing to tow it from SB, because I know this family owned business treats their customers LIKE GOOD FAMILY!! When I was going to move out of town I kept saying to everyone, what am I going to do to find an Honest Mechanic. Now I am staying YEAH! Their Reputation is simply...HONESTY. 5/5 STARS for Avenue Tire & Service of Ventura, CA....They Deserve it 100%!! read more

My daughter called today to get a quote on two used tires for her 2002 Honda civic. She was quoted $98.00 per tire with install. I couldn't believe it $196.00 for two used tires. The website says used tires starting at $20. So, I called Big Brand tire Ventura and got two new tires with install for $98.80, thank you Big Brand for taking care of our young Ventura locals students on a budget. read more

Went to drive to work this morning and realized I had a completely flat tire. Inspected the tire and noticed a lovely nail puncture. I put on the spare tire and headed to Avenue Tire & Service. I arrived before they were open (~7:50) and they said they would have it done in 10 minutes. I was out of the parking lot in 15 minutes. I have to tell you I really have nothing bad to say about this tire shop. They are always fast and friendly and go the extra mile. They have even come to my campsite to change a hose and they didnt even charge me to fix it. They never over charge me and they will even bring your car to you if you need them to do so. They have the best tire prices anywhere and you dont have to deal with a big shop. Its personal family service. With respect to the above review. I have never had Roy or anyone at his shop make me feel like they were trying to give me an extra charge. They have never tried to screw me or fixed something that wasnt broken. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. If my oil change is a few dollars ( which it is not) highter then a fast service place or I dont get a punch card for a free one I dont care. I know that I have reputable honest professionals looking at my car and thats all that counts. I totally trust Roy and his staff. I believe what he says and I wish there were more small companies that treated you like a person and not just a customer. I think we all need to start supporting the smaller companies.
