I love Free People. Although many of their items are over priced, you can't get away from how cute their stuff is. Every time I wear something from FP, I'm bound to get a compliment from a stranger. It's a love-hate relationship, as my bank account hates this place. As for this specific store, I can understand many of the other reviews about their customer service. But, I will say, I have also had great experiences here. The last time I went in, Gray (not sure how you spell her name) was helpful and overall just nice. And I didn't feel completely judged haha. I've also been helped by an Asian gal, but that was over a month ago, and she was also helpful. In fact, I think she grabbed like 6 pairs of overalls to try on - because of color variation. Overall, I think I'm addicted. I always have to come here when I have to do an online return, and I inevitably end up buy something else. Overall, cute stuff. The service was the worst, walked in, it was quiet, maybe one other person on this Tues afternoon, 2 ladies working, busying talking about some reality dating show. Never once said hi, asked if I needed help. I even helped myself to fitting room And really liked the sweater and tanks but tanks were a lil big: never once checked on me. I always have a great experience in Free People, today I went to Free People with my grandma and she was looking for some pants and every single pair she tried on that was on the floor, She didn't like. Marissa was helping us the whole time and being super sweet to my grandma. Later on marissa came back w 3 pairs of pants that weren't on the floor that she knew would fit. My grandma and my grandma ended up buying 1 of them. Bad service, no greeting upon arrival. No help in fitting room and not a single person helped or asked if I needed anything while I was browsing, and I did. When I went to the register the girl didn't respond to my "hello" and just proceeded to give me my total... I'm noticing this pattern every time I come to this location. Not happy about the customer service I just received at this store. I previously returned a gift and was able to purchase items online with store credit. One item didn't work for me and I asked if it could be returned to my card, as I cannot get much at this store with $30 (I paid the difference with my card.) The associate (with blonde hair- I did not get her name) turned her screen to show me she "couldn't do it" but offered me the total on store credit... I was sent away with a customer service phone number and my pants.. (which I love but they don't fit.) If the appropriate customer service was given this return would have turned into an exchange. Then she turned away from me and left my things sitting on the counter for me to gather myself. As someone who has worked retail for half of my life, I expect more from this place. Let me just say I've been shopping the free people brand and on the free people app for far over 10 YEARS . However this specific store has the absolute worst customer service in the history of customer service. They Legitimately never acknowledge me when I walk in the store. I didn't even get so much as a simple hello when I walked in the doors and the girl was literally right in front of me. I had the same thing happen to me at a free people store in NYC, which is so bizarre because you would think for a boho carefree brand that they wouldn't hire uptight judgmental and (probably racist) workers I'm going to stick to the app where they make purchases and returns pretty easy. read more

I'm submitting a boot review here as it's impossible to find how to do that on the website. I ordered Free People Blaze boots in brown online. They arrived and are super cute. BUT, after ONE WEEK of wear, the heels had worn down into the wood! They are now at shoe repair ($30). So on top of the $268 for the boots, count on spending additional to get your heels fixed pretty quickly. read more

Came in to look at some jewelry and accessories with my boyfriend. We were racially profiled and followed throughout the store despite there being multiple people in the store. We left once we noticed that we were being followed since it made us extremely uncomfortable. This is sad since I was willing to give Free People another chance after I had bought a choker necklace from them and the lock broke after the first time of wearing but definitely won't be coming back to this establishment or any free people store. read more

Only one register on friday night, the customer right infront of me asking the employee to do something that she repeatedly said she can't do it today, holding the customers up who tries to check out. I was so excited when I saw Free People was moving into the Irvine Spectrum. Especially, when I live across the street and my closet consists of predominately Free People. The store is a nice medium size with a few fitting rooms in the entrance and the Free People Movement collection in the back of the store. They have a good size clearance section towards the back as well. Their accessories are limited in terms of Handbags, Shoes and other Beauty products. I have been here several times and the first visit was pleasant. They had recently opened and not once was I greeted until I made the purchases that I made. The second time, I visited the store, it was the same experience as before. Employees would walk past me and not acknowledge until it was time for me to pay. So I made myself free to the store and drawing room. Recently, I participated in the yoga workshop. Thank you for inviting me. I'm glad I participated and for the water bottle. read more

One star for store cleanliness. Otherwise the entire staff needs to be overhauled. Nothing but a bunch of uncultured & self absorbed kids. Too busy talking about their current gossip as they get paid to stand around and do nothing in their empty store. They have found a way to successfully keep as many people out as possible by being rude and making guest feel totally unwelcome and uncomfortable. When I walked into this store, not only was I not greeted, these employees just continued to engage in their local gossip and ran to the opposite side of the store. When I went near them, they all ran to the other side of the store, never saying one single thing, not a "hi", not a "welcome", no "are you finding everything okay" I was the only person in the store as they stood around getting paid to do nothing. I love free people. I buy a ton of free people. I was decked in free people when I went into the store. I had a ton of stuff to try on. Someone did start me a room but that's where it ended. Not once did anyone come and check on me and see if I needed any other sizes. The 2 people working were wayyyyy too busy chatting behind the register to notice anything else. I poked my head out, said hello, waited a little bit and nothing. The thing is I did find stuff but I was so annoyed by the lack of customer service that I rather rather buy online so I left. If you're gonna be charging $80 for a little tshirt then I expect some type of customer service. Boho-chic is what I'd use to describe the clothes at Free People. Previously, I'd buy their items in department stores like Nordstrom. Now they have their own storefront at the Irvine Spectrum. Of course, you can always order online and if you order a certain amount, you can score free express shipping. I really love their dresses. My most recent purchase was for the 100 Degree mini dress in a black and magenta print. I had gotten an email from Free People featuring the dress in a different color but I wasn't sure if I wanted to order it. I searched store locations and found one at the Spectrum. Awesome! I went to the store and tried the dress on. It's adjustable so that's one of my favorite features of the dress. I looked online to see what other colors and prints it came in. I ordered a few and took my chances. The order arrived but the color in person wasn't as attractive as it was on my screen so I went to the store to return it. I ended up buying the dress I tried on originally. The sales associate was great. She just asked me if there was anything wrong with my order, which there wasn't. I just had a change of heart. She offered me a bag for my dress too. I wasn't sure if I wanted it but when she said it was made of muslin, I was sold. The bag was free. The dress I ended up buying will definitely make some summer nights even hotter. read more

This is the worst Free People store. I am a regular Free People customer. I shop both online and in-store regularly. I received an online order 2 days ago. The item was too big. I went to the store to simply exchange the exact item for a different size. At first, I was told they could not exchange an online purchase. Ummm??? I know this is not true. They finally returned it and then I purchased the same item. The whole time was filled with eye rolls and bad attitudes. I will never go to this location again. I soooooo appreciate the locations I normally visit! This store is BAD!!! read more

I have loved this location ever since it opened up. I am from San Diego and not once have I have been to the Irvine spectrum center, just dreamt of going there as we passed by on the freeway. However when free people opened up, I just had to go there. It's a small boutique as opposed to the Huntington Beach location which is overwhelming and too many people, the workers don't even greet u. This boutique in Irving, has only a selected few items which are truly nice things to have and unique. Plus the workers make u feel like their homegurl. I was immediately greeted by Gweneth and she asked if she could start a fitting room for me. She's sweet. I ended up buying all the things I wanted due to great service. read more

Definitely not worth going in store, honestly one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. The sales associate was not helpful and wouldn't speak to me at all to begin with, then when she finally decided I was not going anywhere and she had to answer my question, she was short and made it obvious she was annoyed. I chanced it and again asked her for a dressing room she just pointed and told me to go in any open one. She then sweetly and with great customer service showed another customer into the dressing room into the one I was in and opened the curtain even though it was obvious someone was in there. The customer quickly shut the curtain and the sales associate proceeded to loudly say to the other customer that the room was supposed to be for her and has no idea why I would go in there. Then loudly started talking badly about me. I told her I went in there because she told me to go into any open one. She went to the manager and was staring at me while obviously continuing her rant about me. I went to talk to manager (she was nice) and after we finished talking, walked out to find the same sales associate still talking horribly about me. I guess I didn't fit her idea of what a customer of free people should look like. Don't come here, unless you fit the ideal free people customer, according to their employees, no one will help you.
