I went here to get more stationery. I got the Dong-A scented gel pens, some erasers, and a limited edition Kuru toga pencil. I'm glad that this place has the Dong-A Miffy scented gel pens because the 10 colors from Jetpens has been discontinued. This place even has several erasers from stationery companies. I saw those erasers from a Korean youtube video from years ago. I also saw that this place sells some calenders and notebooks that remind me of the Kokuyo soft ring notebooks. We usually stop by here before we hit up our the restaurants in Garden Grove. We can for school supplies and the kids walked away with a lot of unique pencils/pens, pencil cases, to notebooks. Good for the quick gift, but a bit annoyance of my part is some of the fake blind boxes that are sealed or resealed. Comparing them with the actual boxes & packaging from the website, it's definitely different & while close, they're not real. The lady was super rude and stayed on the phone the whole time when we were shopping. When we opened the LABUBU box the face was bleeding from the cheap paint from the toy's cheeks. One leg was forward and the other leg was doing the splits. His arms were uneven as well. I asked her if this was fake and she didn't answer me. She said that's what we sell at the store all the time. My daughter started to cry when she saw how fake the item was. I asked her for the refund and she flat out said no. The Korean man in this store is dishonest. We bought a pair of socks and a key chain and the total bill was $16 something. And my little cousin who is 7 years old gave him $20, but I realized I had $1 and some coins. I told him to return $5. However, he just returned 1 cent for me. BIG inner child moment being back here. When I was younger, I would carefully save up and even more carefully choose what I wanted from morning glory because there were just so many cute things. I have been shopping at morning glory for the past 5 years as it's one of the only local korean stationary stores here! The older man who works there has always been polite, patient, and goes above and beyond most of the time with packaging or even staying open a little later if I arrived close to closing. I'm not sure what people are saying about "racist" or "sexist" experiences. I've never once thought that to be the case when visiting, and I've been here with multiple different people of different ethnicities on several occasions. I have been going here for a couple years and while they don't always have the most up-to-date collection, they still have a decent amount of cute stationery items. Their stickers are expensive, but I find their notebooks and letter sets are reasonably priced (be sure to check since they're not all priced the same due to brand/style/etc). Some of their pens/pencils are reasonably priced, but others are a tad bit pricey for the sake of cutesy novelty/name bran. I used to buy the slime toys for students; since I live nearby, it saves me a trip to Target and/or the cost of shipping. They're cheaper and cuter than the typical slime you get at other stores. The cashier (usually an older man or an older woman--more often I see the older man) has always been nice and haven't hassled me despite the fact I take forever to decide to buy one thing which I appreciate. One time I had trouble trying to see if a notebook was lined or not but didn't what to open up the wrapper, but he let me open it to check. Additionally, the next time I came in (about a month later), he let me know which one was lined or not. Maybe he tells people that randomly but I suspect it's because he remembers me, which is nice. Only knocking one star off because not all of the products are the trendiest or the highest quality, but I still think they're very cute. It's more of a 4.5/5 than a 4/5. read more

I haven't been here for a looong time. It was a throwback to my 5th grade days when I'd spend hours in cute stationary shops after school. I kid you not, I LIVED at morning glory as a child. When I used to live in the 626, I went all the time. When I moved to the OC, I spent practically every day after elementary school window shopping at the Buena Park location. I would go as often as I could and take note of all the $1.50 gel pens and cute character led pencils I wanted by the time my birthday and Christmas rolled around. Whenever I went to the mall I hated Sanrio because hello kitty had nothing on my beloved Pucca and Hamtaro LOL. Fast forward 23 years... I was hit with such a rush of nostalgia walking in here! It was my first time at this specific location. Service from the man whom I presume to be the owner was so sweet -he was encouraging me to swatch/sample all the pens I wanted. I would be holding one just to feel the type of grip it had and he'd remind me it was ok to test it on paper. And when I was browsing the plastic wrapped notebooks and planners, he also said it was ok to take them out of the wrapping to see the inside before buying. So sweet :) There are signs as well stating it is ok to do this so he did not necessarily need to let me know, but it's a kind gesture. Basically, nothing in this store ever changes. The little girl in me was so happy :') It's a great store for young children to get affordable, attractive stationery such as pen and paper, something children these days are unfortunately less & less interested in thanks to iPads and iPhones...so bring your children here!!! Dishonest people. My girlfriend is a regular here and buys most of the hello kitties. We have noticed they have been raising the prices on the hello kitties after she mentioned she would come back to purchase more. I told her that was silly of her to do so since they would surely raise the price and take advantage of her. She didn't believe me, so I took photos of all the prices of the large hello kitties and sure enough the week after they raised the price on them by $20. I went to morning glory to get cute dolls to put inside my car. I was looking for key chains too for my car keys, but the store did not have what I was looking for. There are little fluffy animal key chains and small cell phone accessories, but no regular sized trinket that works for my car key. The store sells korean cute and fancy pencils, pens dolls, notepads, notebooks, small accessories and toys. It's a little gift shop that has all kinds of cute things that typical girls would like. I especially liked the little unicorn dolls. I got two of them for my car, but they were not cheap. So I guess my negative point would be the price. Came here looking for some cute Asian import goodies for my daughter while I was in LA visiting friends and family. She loves going to Maido in Santana Row in San Jose and I was looking for a shop with similar service, selection and quality. Seen the decent reviews, so I stopped hoping it was an Orange County Maido. NOT. Mostly cheap imports. Poor customer service. Entered store. Saleswoman came out from back and said "hello" with no smile or attempt at serving me. I kept looking for something of quality or decent cuteness. NOT. After looking for about 15 minutes, saleswoman asks "Can I help you!!??". Hhhhhmmmm...I don't think the saleswoman had her morning dose of "morning glory". Before I go into this review, let me summarize by saying I love this place, but it does have some communication problems. First half of this will be positive and the last bit, I'll talk about the minor stuff that may have bothered me. Sweet nostalgia is the first feeling that takes place when I walk into morning glory :). Memories of middle school days, when everything was simple make this place sentimental for me! An abundant selection of cute stationary, it's a mom and pop shop as well and always has been. I admire the sweet lady and man who run the store and it has a great selection! However, I do think the male store owner can be a little abrasive. He keeps an eye on any one and every one who walks in the store, so don't be worried about racial profiling. I think it's because of how easy it can be to steal from a shop with such tiny products like pencils/pens, so they are making sure the merchandise is not being taken. Being extra cautionary is reasonable to me, but I also see how people who have never visited can be uncomfortable. They also have a very strict no drink/no food policy - not even water is allowed inside. I understand because of what a mess it can create if an accident were to occur. The thing is though, the man may yell at you. I carried water in before because I thought water would be an exception, but he told me no drink/no food. I asked "even water?", he said yes and I was happy to comply - I then asked if I could set my drink down on the counter by the register while I look around so that I don't cause an accident, he said I cannot leave it there and told me to leave it outside. He motioned at me to leave and I ended up just leaving my water right in front of the store window before coming in to purchase items. I respect the policy, but I do feel that giving an angry look and slightly yelling at customers is not the best way to handle the situation... a simple explanation with a normal tone that there can be no drinks or food inside, with no exceptions at all would have sufficed. I have been here enough times to know that the owners are very nice people at heart, but I was disappointed in the way the man did not want to communicate with respect towards people. Not everyone will know the rule when they first come and not everyone will take yelling as well as I did. I have seen a previous review complaining about this as well. Personally, I'm not too sensitive about what happened and I will keep coming here. However, I can see how one negative experience can make others not want to return. Therefore, I hope that they can find a way to inform customers respectfully on why they have an uncompromising policy. read more
