Free People is starting to take more of my money than Madewell, and that's saying something. My past couple experiences at this location have been great, with Sara upstairs helping me with outfit suggestions. This store is always presented really beautifully, but as a savvy shopper, I rarely spend much time up front. Free People is notoriously expensive at full price but, once things go on sale, it's a whole new ballgame. I've found some great stuff in the sale racks, though you have to be prepared to really comb through as everything is squeezed together. Finally, I'm obsessed with the reusable bags they give for purchases. I use these all the time over other reusable bags simply because they're so pretty. read more

(5 STARS) I had to return an online Free People website purchase that didn't work out. It was a FP *online only* item. Decided to stop into the Center City (Phila, PA) location since it's more environmentally responsible, no additional packaging waste. The store is wonderfully located in CC but parking was challenging since it was a weekend. Upon arrival to the store I noticed the lovely open layout and care of store merchandising from the overall to finer details. It seemed kept immaculately organized especially since it was the high traffic weekend! I fumbled with my phone to access my info as one of the lovely staff members oversaw but graciously held back in wait. She greeted me with the class of Tiffany's yet the relaxed feel of FP. As we bantered a bit, I also was given add'l info on FP locales. My transaction was professional, VERY efficient, quick and friendly. I was surprised how smooth the transaction occurred. I wish I knew her name she deserves to be noticed (HQ can check registers Sat 7/17/21 around 6:50 pm). Highly recommend! If you're in the area stop by, you never know what you might find here even though it's a more moderate size store they have a lot of merchandise. I definitely prefer to shop their stores to support retail and the brand. I can't wait to come back to this store when I have time to do some actual shopping! Whether ad or sale, clothing & accessories look great on the models. I would enjoy adding to my wardrobe. I placed an order on line-forget about it. I checked on the status about a week later. I was told it should arrive on Nov. 20. Nothing. I then speak to customer service. I was then told it was past the due date and they would refund my money. I'm waiting all this time I want the product. Two seconds later he comes back on the phone and says he'll cancel the original order duplicate it and rush right out. I should understand due to holiday rush. I placed this order on Nov.4. So I am waiting for the order to arrive the entire day, I did not move. Finally, I call that evening and was told the order was refused and on its way back to the shipper. There is something SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY! It is sooo dysfunctional! If this was a college course the major would be DISAPPOINTMENT! Who has time to go back and forth and listen to stories which are not factual. The world is upside down right now. Free people is always the place I go when I'm having a bad day and I need a little pick me up. The staff at walnut is always very polite, and very helpful. I never feel like they're aggressively trying to make a sale, but always willing to help including offering to go get sizes or order me a size in something. Which I really appreciate as I've lost a lot of weight recently due to stress & often find gorgeous pieces there that I swim in because I'm so tiny now. Anyway the real reason I'm writing this review is in hopes someone high in the company reads this. Today I witnessed a woman repeatedly berate an employee named Wyatt (unsure of Wyatt's pronouns so I will use they them) anyway this woman was condescending and relentless because she was unhappy she wasn't allowed to buy a mismatch set ! While it took a lot of me to not verbally demolish this woman I could only imagine how Wyatt felt. I only chose not to because I didn't want to be ban from what is my usually peaceful happy place. However from an outsiders perspective you would never know if Wyatt was upset , they maintained their peaceful polite composure through and through. I'm sure a compliment from a stranger even a hot mess like me is nice, but it doesn't pay the bills. I hope that if Wyatt is up for a bonus or a raise that they are granted it. This store is small and unfortunately the space available isn't being utilized very well. Walking in i was pretty impressed with the visuals ( tables had great pieces and outfits as well as the front of the store displays) Once i did a walk through (only took me a few paces ) i was near the top of the stairs that leads to the fitting room and i thought to myself "thats it" Yes its great That FP is finally hear but they could have done a whole lot better. The staff seemed helpful and its in a great area so it will probably do well. Ill stick to ordering online and bopping into the NYC store when I'm up that way read more

Wow, I really have no idea what the previous reviewers were talking about. -The space is gorgeous, and well utilized -The apparel is hip, and on-trend. While a few garments slip in every season that seem to be ill-fitting or overtly-hippie, most are beautifully cut and fashion-forward -The service is friendly, knowledgable, and enthusiastic. -And there's something really cool about the fact the company is local to Philly. As a frequent Free People shopper, I have had consistently great experiences at the King of Prussia location. What brought me in was a hat that was out of stock online and at KoP. FP's item locator indicated 1-2 were in stock here. The first thing I did was call to confirm, where the tone of the person answering indicated she would rather be elsewhere on a Friday evening. So, she confirmed the hat was in stock, and sorry, my dog was barking in the background when she told me the store would only be open until 8. "SORRY, I CAN *BARELY* HEAR A WORD YOU'RE SAYING" she replied. You know what? Perform an attitude adjustment or get new job. When I arrived, I was greeted by a sunny employee who found the hat and complimented how it looked. Whoever you are, you definitely represent the way all Free People employees should be (that extra star is for you). I looked around for a few more minutes, then I checked out. Lo and behold, the same person whom I talked to on the phone took care of my purchase. How did I know? If the voice wasn't a dead giveaway, her scowl definitely was! Overall, to echo another reviewer, the selection on Walnut is sparse. I would not miss this FP because I'm not in the city often enough and after my experience, I prefer the KoP location. I'm a frequent shopper and did not receive my last order even though I received an email saying it had arrived. After multiple calls and chats to free people, I was told that I would be receiving a refund within 2 to 5 days. After five days I called again, after receiving an email telling me that I would not be refunded because the carrier said the package was delivered and if I wanted anything done I would have to go to the police station and report it as a theft and then go to my bank and dispute this. I am very disappointed with this response. Needless to say, that will be my last purchase from free people. read more

I usually shop online with Free People, but I always have such a great experience in the store, I think I'll be shopping in store from now on. Unlike some other stores on Walnut Street, the staff aren't uppity and they're super friendly and helpful without being pushy. Natasha was helping me, and she managed to find a pair of pants in my size that weren't on the floor. Give that girl a gift card! the space feels light and airy, i do hate when i go into a store and theres tons of clothes folded up and only a few things hung out to see. i agree with the other reviewers that the store doesn't appear to maximize the space it has to best display inventory. other than that, i have no complaints of dressing room cleanliness or customer service. read more

First let me start by saying I adore free people. Although this particular location is small and doesn't cary a wide range of items, the staff here makes up for the lack of merchandise. Every time I've shopped here they've been extremely helpful and don't mind answering whatever annoying questions one may have. Most times that I shop here, the sales associates end up ordering what I'm looking for and for convenience I always get my items shipped to the store. This past time I expressed that I needed the outfit for a festival that was coming up within a few days and the sales person added express shipping for free. It came in two days :). Customer service wins me over each time. I gave this location 4 stars instead of 5 because of the limited availability of the merchandise. read more

I went in yesterday around 6-7pm to look for a few things. I was disappointed in the lack of customer service. There were a few sales associates on the first floor, and I wasn't greeted once. I always opt for the FP merchandise whenever I feel like buying casual chic clothes - mostly online or Nordstrom, I rarely go to the stores and today, I remembered why. I wanted to return a jacket that I bought online and pick up another piece to exchange so I went and I found my new piece but when it came for me to the transaction, there was nobody in the register and someone finally came but she just ignored me like I'm invisible or something so I finally said I wanted to do an exchange. The sales person disregarded my request and she said that she couldn't do an exchange, only a refund and have to purchase it again. Since it was an online purchase, I paid via Paypal! Now, it'll take 5 days to go back to my account and since I didn't feel like charging my card again, I just did the return and walked out. The girl was so snooty, she made me feel like I was bothering her.. I'm sorry if I don't want to give her a commission for the "new sale".. I've worked in retail most of my life.. most recently Nordstrom KOP, so I usually shop at Free People KOP. Always a great experience except when I shop at the Walnut st store. The employees are completely rude, and the manager even nastier. I experience this 4 out of 5 trips, so fed up today I just left without purchasing a damn thing! The store itself is beautiful, albeit on the smaller side. However, every time I enter the store there's at least 5 people working and only one will greet me and be friendly. I feel like there's such an uppity attitude permeating the space and it makes me not want to shop there. read more
