I'm sorry. I don't mean to be highly critical, but I think I have given this place enough chances. I've been here three times in the past year trying a variety of different meats and sauces but none of it is appealing. On a PR standpoint, I'm not going to compare it to other similar places but this place isn't for me. I do like their tortilla and pico de gallo however their burritos lack significant flavor and their meat is very dry. The burrito I just got, I took two bites and threw it away. It was the cayenne tortilla with pork and beans, salsa, etc. I got the spicy tomatillo and fiery habanero sauces. The spice was good but the flavor was not. I will not be back. read more

I'm so disappointed because I always love this place and I brought other people here but not again until I see some response to this problem . Food coating the floor under the tortilla bin, food just all over the place, stray chips by the register. The glass countertop is COATED with grime. How is this place open? The employees are not happy, they seem overworked or something, heaving a sigh as they help the next customer. As I stepped out of line, I told the guy making a meal that they need to clean. This is not dirty from today, this is buildup dirt. And the health department is closed! I'll try Monday. If you are here are got sick, i wouldn't be surprised. I'm really disappointed with how my expectations were set due to all the nice reviews, however I was met with an underwhelming experience. We weren't asked if we were ready to order or knew what we wanted. It was a "hello" and that was all. Not to mention that the food was looking old and dry with several flies lurking and at least enjoying the food. I understand today is a holiday weekend, but it was just sad. I had the monster steak burrito. First time ever trying and I truly tried it because I was craving a big burrito. They absolutely scratched that itch for me. The steak was tender and all the ingredients mashed very well together. The spicy tortilla and the creamy jalapeño sauce blended well with each other. So we came in and there were three young ladies in here that probably worked here and were so unprofessional. My boyfriend had to wait for this young lady to make the two big burritos in the picture and one other one. how are you guys going to make your food First when we're paying for our food. So, there's a long line and one of the girls comes behind and starts smelling the food. Then, as people are trying to make the customers food. The young lady in the picture is going through making three meals for people, whereas the paying customers are waiting for their food and since they are coming close to closing there is not a lot of food left so you have a lady taking food from paying customers cutting the line, making big meals and stuff while we are still waiting for our food to get made. First time eating from Freebirds and I am a bit disappointed. Ordered via DoorDash and one of the items I ordered (burrito bowl) was a bit skimpy for $11 (including extra meat). I also ordered a kids steak burrito and a monster burrito. The contents in the bowl didn't fill half of the bowl. Looking through the owner pics...never mind that thought. Probably wouldn't order again, but glad to have had the experience of trying something new. Update: I received a call today (6-8-18) from Freebirds management providing an apology, explaining that my order was indeed skimpy (based on pic in review) and offering a free meal. While waiting in line, another customer was upset. The manager, David, worked to try and correct the situation. The angered customer was unwilling to be reasonable. David repeatedly apologized for the situation and eventually the customer left. We finished ordering and sat down to eat our Monster burritos. The upset customer returned. This truly concerned me. I watched intently for the safety of my son and myself. Once again, David worked with the man using a calm demeanor. Finally the man left. David has a gift for customer relations. So here's what you get at Freebirds versus McBurrito (aka, Chipotle)--which in this case is literally just across the street: options. Some people like a lot of options. I personally made up this saying just the other day that goes "variety is the spice of life." It's a metaphor. That said, options don't necessarily make a place better. Yes, they have 3 kinds of tortilla. And their burritos come in different sizes. And they have sauces--although I'm not sure that BBQ sauce has any business being near a burrito. And they have nachos. And queso. And if that's what it takes to make or your dining partners happy, then go for it. The problem for me is that none of them are all that great. They're not bad. They're just not great. Whereas I love a lot of things at Chipotle. I think their chips taste fresh. I think their meats are flavorful, but not in a way that covers up the natural flavor of the meat. And I love their rice, their cheese, and their runny sour cream--which doesn't cost extra (as it does at Freebirds). If it's variety I crave, I go to Fuzzy's instead. Which is really easy since it seems like they've opened 45 new options in the Metroplex in the past 2 years. That's not to say that Freebirds is fine. Everything there is decent. And who doesn't like waiters who are obviously coached to be outgoing and friendly like Jennifer Aniston in "Office Space," but only if she had a nose ring? It's just that there is nothing that really stands out. Other than the decor/ambience, which seems like a corporate version of stoner meets early 90s alternative rock. And for the price (comparable to Chipotle), that's not even to bring me back that often on my own. read more

U make ur way down the line selecting ingredients..I love and adore their black beans, some of the best I've ever had. Fresh pico, several different salsas, fajita veggies, queso fresco (mmm), shredded cheeses, 2 different types of rice, and the meats. The very best thing behind that glass is the roasted garlic..omg yesss gimme that now! Delish! Their food is always fresh and fully satisfying. Everyone that works here is really hip and trendy, think hippie meets surfer..i like it, and their attitudes match the vibe. Restaurant is clean and I like the higher volume music..it goes with the theme. I've never had a bad experience here. Freebirds on pipeline is one of my favorite places to go to before a high school football game.. or when they sponsor a program at my daughters school.. or just anytime. The employees are always very friendly.. food is always GREAT!!
