TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Please read other reviews. Chris is KNOWN to ghost customers if he cannot resolve his mistakes. We purchased a HVAC system for more than $10,500 from him which he incorrectly installed in our home. Not only did he not fess up to his mistake, but he sold us other options to make more profit from his mistakes. After spending additional thousands more with no resolution, we paid for 4 other HVAC companies to come by our home for a second opinion and all agreed that Chris and his company played us hard. Not only did he install incorrectly, lied and offered us other options for more money, damaged our properties (see pictures attached) and then GHOSTED us when we asked him for a resolution. DO NOT use their services. Read other client reviews who claim he GHOSTS them completely. By the way, even his secretary told us she quit because she does not agree with his business ethics. If Chris' own employees calls him out on his shadiness, then you know you're taking a big risk with his company. He damaged our baby gate, closet ceiling drywall, clothes with paint splatter, and his bunk AC unit damaged our home painting. Please see photos. As we enter winter again and use heat I'm reminded about the terrible customer service, sales and support from Chris and Freedom Ac. We can't even use our patio while the heater runs because of the condensation that runs out of the heat pump while it operates in heat mode. Chris never said anything about this during consultations, knowing we were coming from a tradition furnace heating system and then tried to sale me on a fix for another $800 after it was installed and I told him about the issue. Those good reviews must be from friends and family because that is not the level of service we encountered, from them starting the job on a Friday, coming back Saturday just to leave again without completing the connection or tell us they were leaving and then ignoring all our calls the rest of the weekend while we suffered in the cold. Chris ghosting us for almost a week, The saving grace was that some of the employees, not the owner took pity on us and let us barrow their space heaters to at least heat a couple rooms in the house until they to could get in contact with their boss and resume work. You know It's bad when employees are calling the customer because they haven't been paid and the entire team leaves the company after a project. Not to mention that during the ordeal and filing a complaint with the CSLB we were told that their license was suspended and they were not allowed to do any work till it was back reinstated. I really hate that I have to do this. I gave Chris and Freedom AC a five star rating after he did an a/c mini split.Which I posted. When I first called him, he said $200 when he walked in my backyard and looked at it then he said it'll be $300. OK, I just wanted to get it done so I said yes. Most AC guys don't like to work on Owner installed units, which is understandable. I needed Chris to pull a vacuum and get it running. He told me I did a good installation. Just not quite up to Code. Gave it a quick run through and Chris left. It turns out it wasn't actually working. So he came out the next day with a service call of $100. Still couldn't figure it out so we figured it was a defective unit. In the meantime, I'd called the seller and he'd be back in a week. A week passes, the seller Pablo comes to my house, figures out the problem, no special tools needed. Chris had made a small mistake no big deal. So it seemed to me a partial refund was in order. $200. After all Chris was paid $400 and didn't fix the unit. We discussed it,he basically said he doesn't make mistakes like that so no money. So I asked him, what did I get for my $400?? He's ghosted me ever since. I Also thought this worth mentioning, Chris told me while he was here he could give me a good deal on putting central AC 1600 square-foot house quoted $25,000 including replacing the ducts and registers.He also told me for $5000, He would put another one in my master bedroom, considering it only took me four hours to install the unit in question, and I'd never done it before, that seemed awfully steep. Then, after going back to his website I found he had an advertised special of only about $9000. But no new ducting Included. It's like he throws out the highest price He thinks he can get. He's a Five Star player in most every way. But he needs to realize he CAN make mistakes read more

Scheduled an appointment with a window from 1-3PM. Technician didn't arrive on time or call. Followed up and Chris came out himself after another half an hour. After the initial diagnosis, it was determined to be a failed capacitor. I was recommended to replace the capacitor as well as install a "hard start" kit. (This is essential another capacitor with a relay) and a cleaning service. Although the service did bring the compressor back, the price seemed a bit steep. The total parts cost may have been around 100-120 bucks. While the total bill came out to 1283. I'd estimate that I was roughly charged 1100 for an hours worth of labor (conservatively). Here's the kicker, I opened up the panel and the capacitor that was put in didn't even look new - the label was worn and faded. I get there's a cost of doing business and would love to support local businesses, but this one seemed excessive. My fault for being an uninformed consumer. read more

I see some others who gave Chris a one-star and this is exactly what we received. We replaced our HVAC to include a new one which is expensive in my opinion. It comes with a 10-year warranty. I thought we are set in for a long time. It was not working. So Chris came but didn't resolve anything. We kept calling and getting no response. The calls are now being monitored by AI people. I usually don't like putting up bad reviews to hurt a small business, but I feel like I have to give a warning to other potential customers about Chris and his company. For the amount of money that was spent on a new heat pump unit for it to output what my previous 30 year old unit is pitiful. Contacting Chris every summer, two years after my install, Chris acts like he cares and tries to find different resolutions which vary every time he shows up. At the end of the day, this guy is a smooth talking salesman who doesn't know wtf he is doing. After my last request to make things right, he gave me a list of modifications he could do to help to improve my system and then ghosted me. I'm livid. I made the mistake of giving this company a large deposit for a new Heat Pump HVAC system in November. After being assured by Chris Steckler "You will have your Bosch before you know it", on January 7th, I've been completely ghosted. I've phoned and texted numerous phone contacts, and sent multiple emails to various addresses requesting he contact me to schedule. Crickets. Chris was not only helpful in my current situation but also even prior to replacing the entire HVAC system. He came out the year prior and replaced the fuse at no cost, being upfront and honest that my unit would need eventual replacement. Fast forward to this year and my system stopped working and needed that dreaded full replacement. Gave Freedom AC a call and Chris came out and we went over options, he did some further research and was able to get me an even better deal with additional credits and savings, not to mention the coveted PEARL certification which raises equity in the property. My AC unit broke down at my restaurant around a month ago. I contacted tens of companies and all I get is "we're too busy to take new clients" or "we have availability 2 weeks from now". I hired a guy that works at a AC company and he screwed me big time. My store thermostat reads 90 at all times! That's until I went on a Facebook page called what's up corona and going Chris! I called and he turned out to be a customer of mine! He was there within hours! He checked the unit inch by inch for any leftover leaks. He fixed whatever needed to be fixed and refilled the Freon. He spent 3 hours patiently caring for the unit, he washed it inside out, helped out with filters and educated me on how the system works. Chris is always ready for whatever your unit might need. I was shocked for the amount of equipment he had on him. I'm glad I called him. Now I have someone to maintain all my units at the store and my home all year long. First he performed a complete maintenance check to make sure that our system was up to date and functioning properly. I sent a request through Yelp & received a call back in about 30 minutes. They happened to have a technician coming back after another call and were able to send him. Edward did a great job. He ran diagnostics and found we had a pinhole leak. He offered a repair solution, added refrigerant and checked all parts of the system. He checked the temperature output of the vents a couple of times to be sure it was putting out cold air and getting colder each time. He made suggestions on how to take care of the system. Within a couple of hours after contacting Freedom AC & Heating, we had our AC unit working again. Couldn't have asked for anything quicker. Seemed a little high in pricing but it is hard to judge since I haven't had this problem in over 10 years. read more

We purchased a home in Corona, in August of last year we had a power surge that blew fuses and fryed a part in the condensor unit. Chris was able to come out and diagnose and repair the unit. I singed up for the Freedon service package and they have come out and cleaned and checked my unit out. I noticed that the control wires from the original install were buried in the dirt beside my garage and were frayed and exposed, the Freedom crew came out and re ran them through the attic. I waited to see if we could tough it out with the cold ( we could not! ) I made a call to Chris, who answered the phone promptly and told me he would check his schedule to see when he could come out. Freedom AC and Heating replaced my old furnace and AC unit with a new state-of-the-art Bosch heat pump, and I love it. It's much more efficient than the old system, doesn't use gas, and is very quiet. It has cut my utilities costs, and I'll get a tax rebate for installing it. Do not have enough words to describe what an incredible job this company did! Our AC went out on July 5th. Reached out the next morning and they were super quick to respond. They discovered a component from the unit had broken off. The part cost a couple hundred extra dollars, and wouldn't be in for about a week! Chris, the owner, has the brilliant idea to get it welded. He came back with the unit welded, no additional waiting or cost, and now I'm sitting in a cool house with my baby in anticipation of the triple digits we're expecting in the next few days! Let me tell you how amazing this team is. Not only has this company went above and beyond but the quality and service was absolutely incredible. I'm a realtor and I love it when people are quick to respond and very responsive when I need a quote or something done. Time is money. Especially when you want quality, professionalism, and honest work. My husband and I acquired this property and it definitely needed love... like love that wasn't given to the house for over 100 years. The owner was able to come in on quick notice within 24 hours he was able to walk the property and give me a quote. What's even harder was that my unit was below the house which made it even more difficult to move in or out. He would literally have to take apart the old and bring in the new in parts. Made sure I knew how to work the new equipment.
