ABSOLUTELY THE WORST - DON'T USE!! Two years ago, we contracted this company to install a $7000 unit for my 1400 square foot home. From a basic standpoint, I would not recommend as they caused damage to my attic door and drug debris and dirt down into my closet from the attic and did not clean it up. There were dirty footsteps and debris from the front door to the closet. But that is MINOR when compared to what happened next. The unit didn't work after it was installed. I had them come back several times and the employees (also family members) mocked me, holding a scanner to the vents saying they were getting a reading and that it was fine. My home was 78 degrees with the unit running at 68. They laughed and joked and tried to insinuate I was being a pain. Over the next several weeks into months, the unit never was installed / fixed to work properly. It got to the point where, when I called, it was difficult to be kind. It was so brazen of these men to gaslight me and tell me the unit was fine and it could take up to 3 days to cool as house my size (tiny two bed room) - We had an additional part of the package that was to be installed but it never was, many excuses but no unit. So we called to see what the issue was and were told that it HAD been installed. Several weeks of fighting over that finally resulted in a refund, but at the cost of our sanity and frustration. One of their employees was caught interacting with our 15 year old daughter - saying things no adult man should be saying. I called the office and they told me he had been fired due to stealing from clients' homes. It was like a comedy of errors but more horrific. We asked for a refund and never wanted to deal with them again. Just a few months back, I put my home on the market and the inspection revealed the unit did not work properly and had not been installed correctly meaning it never could have been working properly. The outside piping was also incorrect and water just poured out of into our lawn, we were told it should have been buried and had obviously been done incorrectly causing further issues. I called Freedom and they blew me off stating I hadn't had a contract with them, so the future owner called and threatened a lawyer and out they came. When the two men arrived, I tried to tell them what the history was, that it never worked. The older man said it a soft pitiful voice like I was harassing him, "I don't know anything about that, I am just a tech." He was n fact the owner and thought, I guess, that I did not know that. I asked why he lied to me and he said he has nothing to do with the business side and only handles the techs. So I asked him why he had sent the predatory man to my home (his son or grandson, I am not sure which) and he said, "We don't have anyone that is the age you say this man is." He must have forgotten they send the name and picture of the folks. I know exactly who it was. Just more gaslighting. After they left, they said they had to come back and do some repairs. I asked for a list of what they had to fix. They refused to give me one and now, a week later, I still don't have any idea what they did and they refuse to tell me. When they came back to fix the things they won't tell me about, they STILL wouldn't tell me. Again, they left saying it was fixed and the house has been hovering around 77 since. I have called and emailed and they will not respond. There are no windows open, no doors and the inspection of the home for sale didn't point out any egregious issues that would lead one to think the air was slipping out a gaping hole in the side of the house. No, the system does not and never did work. These guys are predators and do a awesomely awful job. If you use them, I have no sympathy for the outcome you receive. worst company ever, 4 appointments never showed wasted 4days for me being away from my company. They finally came, but after replacing air handelr telling me it all works 2 weeks later still does not work. They came out once told mehey fixed issue guess what, still not working. It works for 1h then stopped. They now refuse to come out. Well they have been paid to do a job and not done correctly and refuse to come out and fix what they were paid to fix. The owner, the owner daughter in law comdy and the owner son have lied to me personally 10times . The owner and daughter in law can not tell the truth. read more

Bought a $7,000 AC unit and Air Handler in 2016 and I was told that I had a 10 year warranty on parts and if I kept up a yearly service contract that I would have a 10 year warranty on labor as well. That was an outright lie because now, 4 years later, they tell me that was never part of the sale and I have NO WARRANTY on labor. I spent hundreds of dollars on yearly service contracts with this company!!!! What a FRAUD!!!! These people are liars!!!! Stay away!!!! There are so many reputable HVAC companies in the area. WORST COMPANY EVER!!! They continue to take a monthly service fee from us even though we cancelled with them back in September (due to incredibly poor customer service). We were told they were having an issue with the company that handled they automatic deductions. That was never resolved so another month was deducted. We were then told they were going to mail us a check - I guess the check is still in the mail because we never received it. Nothing but lies and deceit from this company. read more

This is SCE&G's contractor for air conditioning service. Takes 3 or 4 days to come and check the unit. Called them last year, twice when my air went out and they said nothing was wrong, but I needed new duct work and a larger unit, it would only cool to 80. Again this year the AC went out and they were called. I was told I needed a new compressor, $1500. Called the Lenox dealer for a second opinion. The compressor was fine, but I had no freon in my system, and the emergency override shut the unit down, there was a leak and would have have to be checked to find out where it was. Size of the unit is correct for the house, duct work should be replaced within the next few years, but not the problem. Don't waste your money on SCE&G's service plans. This is the type of service you will get. read more

I contacted Freedom Air 5-22-20 to evaluate my AC system at the SPA 239 beach city road Hilton Head. A technician came and I was given an estimate. They initially informed me it would take longer than a week to install a new system. The owner, whom I contacted, also mentioned I would have to hire a plumber to remove my hot water heater so that the system could be installed. Since it was going to take them so long to install the unit I contacted another company and informed the owner of Freedom Air I would be using another company . That same day I received a call from Freedom Air telling me they could do the job in 48 hours . I told the owner I wanted my deposit back and that I was using another company to which he replied that he was disappointed but would honor my request. My other concern was that Freedom Air had multiple bad reviews , and the plumbing company that I hired to remove my water said they would not do the job if Freedom Air was involved. I told the owner of my concern. On the Day Freedom Air was scheduled to do my work despite my canceling the job 2 days earlier, the owner called me again to ask if I would reconsider, to which I said "no." I informed him I expected a full refund. However, I did receive a refund that was $450 less than what I had originally paid. I called him numerous times to get some resolution and to inquire what was the charge for despite my canceling the work. I was not able to get this resolved. Beware of this company ! read more

In mid May I had to have my entire heat pump system along with the duct system I'm home replaced. This got off to a very bad start because of the subcontractors who were doing the work. This lead to a lot of frustration on my part especially with the heat wave that was occurring at the time. After notifying them, Mike along with the owner of the company quickly rectified the situation and got my system working like a charm. I've owned my home for 23 years and I'm happy to say that this is the first time in 23 years that my home has cooled the way it was supposed to. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to friends and family. read more

I bought a house with 2 units. The inspector told us 1 was installed incorrectly and would need to be fixed. I called Freedom Air. The owner came to the house the day we were moving in, right after purchase. I told him we wanted to install the Nest gauges, fix the one unit to be correct, and the second wasn't blowing properly. I had to leave to sign a document the attorneys forgot. My husband agreed to the work. They fixed the unit that was installed incorrectly. came out another time to install the Nest, another time to replace a filter they didn't have. We were still having issues with the second unit not blowing right. The installers, kept talking down to me, and acting like it was my fault and I was an idiot. I took them to the second unit and showed them the flashing lights on it. He asked for the manual. What manual??? I bought the house and no manual was laying around, he suppose to be the expert. so 5 visits out to my house, the first unit was installed correctly, and I have the Nest (which they couldn't explain to me), but the second unit still not working. I pulled my home warranty papers and had them come out. they fixed the second unit with no problem, and without the manual! I would not recommend this company at all. I was over charged, and I have yet to get an invoice even though I requested it 3 times. read more

I prefer doing business with neighborhood business because they usually don't scam their neighbors because he needs their support Freedom air is dishonest - serviceman's" inspection report" was actually contract to do the work. The small print was the standard "by your signature you agree...... They are going to learn "don't dump on neighbors" I'll relate my integrity issue at my community gatherings. If their truck is parked at a house in my community and I know the owner I will stop to say hello. read more

I have two units heating/cooling our house. One of the units stopped blowing for the main portion of our house. Based on the couple of reviews- I called Freedom Air. They came out the same day- which made me very happy. My unit was still under warranty- so all parts were under warranty- I just had to pay for labor. He stated that the blower motor needed to be replaced, the heat strips were broken, and my unit freon. Total cost over $1400- and again that was just labor. It was incredibly cold- but I thought that seemed way too high. I called two other vendors- and they both told me that if those things needed to be done- cost was less than 1/2 of that. So I spent a night in the cold and had another vendor come out. The heat strips were fine, and the freon level was exactly where it was supposed to be. This was nothing but a scam!!! Trying to gouge me- ABSOLUTELY stay away. My total cost was under $300 and everything is working great! read more
