    Freedom was the company that installed my tankless hot water heater. I found them through Yelp and also drive near their offices. Nick emailed us a quote after receiving photos from me. Their team arrived around noon and had the job done around 6pm. They did a fantastic job and cleaned up well. The unit looks great and works perfectly. I also signed up for a maintenance plan for my furnace and a/c. I also liked that their office staff is easy to communicate with.

    My experience with Freedom was fantastic from start to finish. And I interacted with numerous people within their organization. Our air conditioner had failed, was leaking, and was 20 years old and not worth repairing. So I needed to get several bids so I could find the best price and workmanship. The first bid I got was from the technician Willie at Freedom. He came out very quickly. I wasn't home but he explained what he found to my wife, then also called me to make sure he got to speak with us both. He gave me a reasonable quote to replace both the AC unit and furnace in our condo. Then I got 2 more bids. One of the bids was cheaper for the same equipment (Lennox single stage) And originally I thought of going with the cheapest quote, but many red flags came up with them after my initial commitment. I realized that after they got a verbal commitment from me, they became very unreachable. For several days. When they finally sent the quote in writing, it had zero detail about the work that was to be done. I read more reviews on Yelp and it became obvious that many HVAC companies are eager to get your business, but once they do the equipment install, they become phantoms. Which is distressing to think about considering they're supposed to guarantee their work for many years after an expensive install. Then I went back and reviewed Freedom thoroughly, realized they have 24 hour phone help and always come out quickly if there's an issue. And my first interaction with Willie was extremely positive. I called Willie again and he spoke to his boss Pete. In the end we worked out a price that was very fair, (only a $300 more than the lowest quote I got). Now, most importantly, when it came to the install day, I was blown away by the quality of workmanship from Genti, "Little" Pete, and Ralph. When they ripped out my old furnace, they showed me that the original furnace was installed with the air filter in the back where it was unreachable without pulling open the furnace every time, and this is why the last owner of our condo likely never changed it. Let me tell you the filter looked horrendous --caked in almost half an inch of dirt. The condenser on the AC was broken, and the humidifier filter had also not been serviced in years and had mold. They ripped out everything, re-installed the HVAC housing from the ground up, relocated pipes to a more logical and less dangerous position, installed a water leak sensor (because they didn't trust the existing humidifier to ruin their precious work), and built a new filter rack that faced forward for easy access to change the cheap air filter every month. Like I said, this level of detail and anticipation had been listed out by Willie in his initial written quote. Then the install techs who came out to my house did what was promised AND more (at no extra charge, no surprise costs). At the end of the day I paid exactly what had been agreed upon ahead of time. Remember that it's not just the equipment you're paying for, it's the level of knowledge and experience of the company. I knew confidently that there was no way I would have this quality of an installation if I had gone with the cheapest bidder. This company is amazing. I was unbelievably impressed by the work and the efficiency with which they did it. I will be recommending them to all of our friends and coworkers that live out here in Chicagoland, without hesitation. Some reviews i've read on here say things like "they charged me $100 for a part I could find for $20 online, 1 star" etc. Are people serious. Do they realize that a technician has to come out, troubleshoot your problem, then yes, they need to charge you more than $20 for the part. They were the ones who figured out which part was broken in the first place. If I asked you to come all the way out to my house in the snow, come inside my house, mess around with something for an hour, then I'll give you $20? I don't think so.no ones time is worth that. Use your brain.

    AC unit

    We had our AC unit replaced and Freedom handled the whole process professionally. With friendly easy to reach staff and scheduled my estimate and install with in a week. I would highly recommended them to anyone looking. Extremely professional and clean install.

The service team was able to fit me in same day by putting me on standby. Nick was able to diagnose, stop the leak, inspect that the leak had done no further damage, and ultimately get the water heater working within 5 minutes of his arrival. Better yet, he said it was a simple fix and did not charge me, but just asked that I keep them at the top of my list for my next job! Very friendly and presentable all the way. He also assessed my heater and said I probably had about another two years to go before needing to replace, and gave me a written quote for a new water heater and to replace the saddle valve with an angle stop. The angle stop cost was a bit high, but the water heater replacement was very reasonable (just being fair). I am definitely going to reach out to them for my next plumbing job.

But after this visit, I realized it's probably just because they're that in demand -- and I see why. They even honored a coupon I sent 30 minutes after I paid, which they absolutely didn't have to do. That level of integrity means a lot. My kitchen sink was draining incredibly slowly, and my previous attempts to fix it just weren't working. From the very first phone call, the team was professional and easy to work with. Scheduling the appointment was a breeze, and I was given a courtesy call on the day of service with an estimated arrival time, which ended up being earlier than expected. I really appreciated the heads-up, as it worked out just fine for my schedule. When the plumbers arrived, they were prompt, courteous, and took the time to ask about the issue before assessing the situation. They gave me a reasonable verbal quote and got to work right away, completing the service the same day. I also liked that they accept credit card payments, making the whole process even more convenient. We initially contacted the company to fix a clogged kitchen sink. Before they arrived, we clearly explained that rodding had already been attempted and did not work, and that we needed someone equipped with a camera inspection to locate the clog. When they arrived, they insisted on trying rodding again, saying their machine was more powerful. After several hours, the clog remained. My stairs carpet was full of mud after they left.. They returned another day to troubleshoot, but the camera they had was too large to see inside the pipes which again we had requested a thinner one from the start. Tomas indicated that they needed to do one , two small openings max to locate the clogged pipe. However, this escalated to ten holes throughout the laundry room walls and ceiling, as well as the basement bathroom walls and ceiling. He changed a pipe in the bathroom for no reason. To justify that he opened holes on the bathroom tha had nothing to do with the kitchen sink? Eventually, they discovered that the pipe leading to the outside of the house was collapsed. The solution was to excavate under the house, outside concrete stairs, under deck to fix the pipe. My husband proposed the solution to reroute the kitchen drain through the laundry room floor to connect to the city pipe. They said they needed to come next day to hydrojet and find the city pipe, plus 3 days to do the work. The quoted $12,000 which we felt was a lot of money but we had no kitchen sink for over a week now, 10 holes on the house, and not thinking clearly at this point. We accepted given the stressful situation, we agreed and paid $6,000 upfront. The work was completed in less than eight hours (versus 3 days) far less time and effort than represented. He promised us before starting that he will send someone to cover all the holes. Well he never sent anyone. After a couple weeks we texted and he gave us some BS excuse that he wanted to make sure he sent someone good, didn't mater the cost. A month later, same story, that the job is to small foe him to find someone (10 hold is small? I cannot imagine how much wrost could have been if we let him excavate towards the outside of the house. In summary he can't be trusted, his words means nothing. Do not pay him until you are satisfied. I File a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and he didn't even answered, that is how much he cares. So i am going to leave this review in every place they are advertised and every moms, community facebook pages from north riverside to 10 miles around.

My experience with them started off as a non-emergency consultation. Enrique came out right on schedule, we walked thru the issues, and I got a text with the official estimate. He was very clear about what needed to be done and how. He didn't try to scare me into a remodel (yes someone else tried that). I also got estimates from 2 others, but SR was the best. Their estimate wa comfortably within my budget. NOTHING WAS LEAKING AT THAT TIME so I planned to schedule work early January. Then I came home to leaking ceiling. Since they're available 24/7, i called their office. Maria was able to schedule Jimmy to come out within a couple hours. He made sure the pipes were OK, then found the bad seal on my tub. Four hours after coming home my ceiling was no longer leaking, my tub was sealed, and we had plans to fix the rest before the end of the week. Finally, the day of the planned project arrived. Jimmy came out early because I had an afternoon commitment. Everything went exactly as he said it would. Time and cost matched my estimate/ consultation EXACTLY. He looked at the leak and went to Association office of my condo building to request a water shut off to change a cartridge. He was told the shut off would have to be scheduled. He came back to remove cover to see if I had a shut off by the cartridge. I did not. Even though I did not have a shut off he decided to remove the cartridge anyway, but was unable to turn it. Then he said if he was able to remove the cartridge everything would get quite wet because the water wasn't able to be shut off. Then he said he didn't want to get wet and would not try to remove the cartridge. He told me that he would have to return in 3-5 days when the water shut off to my tier could be scheduled. Since he could not remove the cartridge he decided that it was on too tight. He told me I would have to soak rags in vinegar and wrap them around the cartridge and keep rags wet until he returned. He told me if I didn't do this that he might have to go into the wall in the hallway to get to the cartridge. I told them that he would have to get permission from the Association to do something so drastic. The Association told him no. Then before he left he told me to keep the bathroom door closed and leave the ceiling fan on until he returned in 3-5 days. He closed the door. I told him that I had the fan on but wasn't sure it was even working. He did not check the fan and closed the door. When he left, he left muddy boot prints from my bathroom all the way to my front door. When I responded to the ad on Yelp the price to come out was quoted as $69.99 to come out. When he replied to my email he changed the price and said it would be $39.99, but before he left he changed the price again to $69.99. I am a disabled senior citizen dealing with a stranger in my unit and was afraid to question him. I notified his company about the mess he made and they said they had no one to clean it up except him. I told them I did not want him coming back at all because I didn't trust him. I also talked to Association office and we decided he was not competent and that he should not return. I hired a different plumber to come and look at the faucet. They came and found the bathroom door closed and asked me why it was closed. I told them that Preferred Plumbing closed the door. When the door was opened my entire bathroom was dripping water - from the ceiling, down the walls, dripping from the light fixtures and my medicine cabinet. All of the knobs on both my medicine cabinet and my vanity were corroded from the dripping water. The paint was pealing off some of the walls and bubbling up on others. The stain on my medicine cabinet was also peeling off. The floor was so wet I had to put towels down so this plumber could have access to the leaky faucet. Even though I had told Grant that I didn't believe the fan was working, he never checked it before he closed the door. The light fixture was blinking off and on. The new plumber told me that the water probably got into the walls and may have shorted out the wires. Even the floor tiles were coming up. The bathroom door was so distorted from the excessive water it had absorbed it had to be forced to open it all the way. I have been back and forth with Preferred Plumbing explaining the discrepancy in the pricing and the amount of damages Grant caused by closing the door, but they decided that Grant was not at fault. They also refused to adjust the pricing even though I sent them a copy of the email that Grant sent to me quoting the price as $39.99. When the new plumber came he had no problems removing the cartridge even though I had been unable to apply the vinegar soaked rags that Grant insisted were necessary. I would not recomend Grant or Preferred Plumbing to anyone. They changed the pricing and caused a lot of damage to my bathroom. They accepted no responsibility for the price changes Grant made and refused to take responsibility for any of the damages that Grant caused by closing the bathroom door without checking to see if the fan was working even though I told Grant that I did not believe it was working.
