Fire 'N' Ice installed a Carrier furnace and air conditioner in my house. The two technicians were friendly and courteous and gladly answered questions I had. The installation was completed in a day and looks great and works well. The cost seemed reasonable, although I did not go for competitive quotes because I wanted the Carrier brand. Review Follow Up! During the recent Cold Snap in January- 2024, I awoke one Morning @ 3:00 am for a drink of water & a trip to the kitchen for a little snack. my igniter went out on my furnace over the weekend. The technician called and with their weekend fixed visit fee (which was highest of the 5 24hr companies i called) and their crazy per 15 min labor rate and the igniter he quoted me around 600 dollars. the part is around 20 dollars and goes on with one screw. ive changed one in 3 minutes. The company i ended up going with did it for 175. They have a lot of good reviews because I am sure they probably do great work but i will not do business with someone that tries to take advantage of you when you have a failure at an inoppertune time. read more

Worst service and biggest rip-off! Want to know how much Fire n Ice charge to replace a transformer on a furnace...$402!!! After a service fee and some bull diagnostic for $203 they tell you it's a transformer problem, which we already knew and told them about it after our electrician tested for us for free in 10min. Then comes the $199 price tag on a transformer that normally cost $40. Wow! They won't negotiate with you on price, they don't discount the diagnostic charge if you go with the fix...0 flexibility. It's the middle of the winter and we need heat so bite the bullet and went ahead with the work. Fire n Ice, you really know how to get your customers when they needed you the most. You can say goodbye to this customer and our twice a year maintenance services on our 2 furnaces and 2 ACs. read more

Called to have a service man come out to look at my air conditioning unit. Fan was stopping intermittently and I wasn't sure what it was. Service man had absolutely ZERO clue on what it was and more importantly did not run any diagnostics to find out. Said I "think" it's the condenser and you probably need a new unit. Not sure how a tech looks at a unit and kind of guesses on the problem? Maybe I think. Collected his $210 and was out the door. Sorry, Fire and Ice, but you are off of my list and I will go out of my way to tell people to use someone else. You just perpetuated the image of the fly by night HVAC company. Adios !!!! I hope everyone looking at Yelp reviews for a great company reads mine. I read great reviews about Fire&Ice and decided to ask them to quote me on an entire HVAC system. Their quote was , i felt, competitive and fair in the market. The salesman talked to me...not at me. They installed my system on a timely basis, made sure I received all rebates, etc. 5 months later my heat wasn't working. Of course during a holiday. I called, they sent someone out to fix it right away. He had to go out to source the faulty part a few cities away. A part manufactured outside our country, I might add. And in the end added that there would be no charge. The system was under warranty. But I expected to pay for labor on a holiday. Good solid company. I highly recommend them. All of our components for our appliances are built and sourced all around the world. That's how we all survive. You can't point a finger at a company for something they have no control over. Only for how they address the situation. This company stepped up. read more

We needed to install a new furnace at my mother's house about 10 years ago. The coal-fired beast from 1938 that had been converted to gas in the 1950's was due for a well-deserved retirement. It just wasn't keeping the house consistently warm. We invited Fire 'n' Ice to quote the project based on a neighbor's recommendation. Unlike the others who submitted bids, the estimator was professional, knowledgeable and took the time to carefully calculate the size requirements. Others just took a quick look and gave a seat-of-the pants number which turned out to be way off. A furnace needs to be carefully matched to the house; too small and it doesn't heat enough, too large and it cycles off and on and the house gets cold between cycles. A furnace is at its most efficient when it runs continuously. Fire 'n' Ice bid was significantly less than the competition for a name brand furnace, so we went with them. On the appointed day, they arrived right on time, with a full crew and ready to go. I arrived about an hour later to watch (and comfort a distressed Mother) and they had already had the 1930's converted originally coal-fired behemoth broken apart and in the truck. They worked efficiently, did a quality job that passed my finicky inspection and were done by mid-afternoon. This was done in very late fall after the weather had turned cold and we immediately noticed the difference. The new furnace kept the house uniformly warm without the hot and cold cycles we had before. So the estimator was right on. And so was our neighbor's recommendation. read more

15 year old furnace was arcing, making screeching and static noises and not putting out enough heat. called Fire and Ice and DJ came out within 6 hours from initial call. He diagnosed the problem as we needed a new inducter motor, to the tune of 900.00 but he did not want us to throw good money after bad and suggested Jim Jr come and give estimate on new furnace. He was here at 7:30 AM the next day and it was determined that the smartest thing to do was get a new furnace. To save money on labor we also contracted for a new water heater. Chris and Dan did the installation the next day. From 8am to 3pm . They did a wonderful job. Efficient, clean, respectful of my home, No extra charges last minute, friendly and very patient with me as they explained what they did and how to use the equipment. I've been using this company as long as I've been in this house - 23 years. Their sticker was on the furnace from the previous owners. They are AWESOME!! Had a heating problem this morning and called at 6:45 a.m. The answering service had someone call me back within 5 minutes. Before coming out and charging me the weekend overtime rate, he had me check a couple of things myself while he held on the line. Turns out the thermostat needed new batteries which I had on hand. Back on New Year's Eve my furnace went out. I called Fire N Ice, who I have used for years, and a technician came out within 3 hours on what was a very cold day -- and he had many calls. Within a couple hours he was able to get my furnace working but after 18 years it needed replacement--which they had told me may happen the year before. He also told me what to do should it fail again. Luckily it lasted the night and failed just before the tech came at 8:00 the next morning. Well, we were able to get installation of the new furnace and a new humidifier the next day on 1/2/18, and as soon as the weather cooperates a new air conditioning unit will be installed. I have used Fire N Ice for many years and always get great service, but this time was beyond what I expected. I am always happy with their service and feel I can recommend their great service to anyone. After moving into an older home, we were dismayed to learn our HVAC was on borrowed time. Therefore, we started the process of looking for a company we could trust to install a new HVAC. During our search process, we interviewed 4 companies. We ultimately picked Fire 'N Ice and are very glad we did! After doing our research, we decided to wait until our HVAC actually broke before replacing it. However, when the technician from Fire 'N Ice came to do a Clean & Check appointment, he explained the different parts that were likely to break by the end of the winter on our 18 year old model. Therefore, we decided to bite the bullet and buy the new HVAC. Jim Jr. waived the Clean & Check fee for us and helped us schedule our HVAC install for 3 days later in order to qualify for the year-end tax credits. Another thing I love about Fire 'N Ice is they file all of the warranty and rebate paperwork for you. You don't have to lift a finger. This is a differentiating factor. I was extremely happy with the service provided by Fire 'n' Ice. I needed to replace a 30 year old AC and furnace. I had 4 companies come out and take a look at what was in place to provide estimates. Of the four that came out, Jim Jr. was the only one to really dig into the setup of the furnace and take proper measurements. The other 3 guys talked to me then took a brief look and the AC & furnace and then said they'd send a quote (which they all did). After Jim Jr. finished looking at everything, he sat down with brochures and explained the pros and cons of each of the options and what I would be getting by upgrading units so I could make an educated decision on what made the most sense cost wise as well as what would be best long term. He was able to provide a quote before even leaving my house. They were very competitively priced with the other guys that sent the quotes. After making my choice, it only took a few e-mails to get everything setup for the install date. They were on-time, friendly and explained some things they ran into along the way. They finished up the install on everything in less than a full day. They also had all the paperwork for the rebates, which they handle submitting for you. At the end, they walked me through the units, how to troubleshoot and do maintenance, and what to do if there were issues in the future. They even offered to help move my washing machine back in the laundry room after I moved it out to make room for the furnace install. At the end of the day, they were upfront with their recommendations, showed up on-time and did a good job with the install, did not exceed the price I was quoted, and made the extra effort to explain the units I had just purchased and help move my appliances back to their original location. It would appear that technicians are very knowledgeable, however scheduling/service staff seems to have some communication issues. Upon scheduling our first appointment it appears the ball was dropped, and some items were communicated in error. We always strive to support local business but they'll need to clean up communication issues before we are comfortable doing business with them. Unfortunately had to seek service elsewhere. Thanks again to Fire 'n Ice. Our A/C died overnight and they were able to come out within a few hours this morning. A capacitor died and thankfully they had the part on the truck and it was going again in under 30 minutes. We've been using F&I for almost 4 years now since another local authorized Carrier dealer tried to scam us. Only downside is that the annual checkups have become bit higher than expected and this service call was $250. Granted it was Saturday afternoon, but $150 to show up plus $50 for each 15 minutes on a simple repair can add up fast even when the parts are covered under warranty. Will still use again because the technicians have been top notch and appointments handled quickly. read more

Fire and Ice was misleading with their pricing and was exorbitantly expensive when it came to labor charges. Their service man couldn't fix the problem one day since our AC frozen over. He charged me $98 for the service call claiming I wouldn't have to pay a service fee again. He came back the next day and charged me an additional $150 because according to the service manager-- its $98 for the first fifteen minutes and the $30 dollars every 15 minutes after. It was a total of $248 dollars of labor for an hour and a half of "half baked work" is absurd. I will never use them again. read more
