I don't write many reviews, but because it is a bit overwhelming to choose a quality company these days, in an industry that seems controversial, I wanted to share my experience to help someone else that's feeling the same way.  It started at my work when someone mentioned they bought their house with solar on it and the utility bill was averaging around $20 for the whole month. That seemed very attractive given that I spend an average of $150.  I went on a few websites and wrote down a list of the four most commonly recommended companies in Texas, and checked how long they were in business, etc.  After meeting with all of them, it was without a doubt Freedom Solar who seemed the most honest and genuine. I liked that they used the industries top equipment brands and had been in business for nearly two decades. A company that has lasted that long surely are masters of their craft. We chose freedom because they had what appeared to be a good warranty and pledged good service. They are much more expensive than the other companies. But once we paid, they stopped replying to emails. And once installed, our system had some panels that do not work - and I cannot get anyone to come out and look at it or help. When I can get someone to rely, they promise to check and never do it. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 months - so I dont think anything is going to change. The sales rep was great but the company is not well organized and seems to be chaotic. They had an ad on Facebook and some of the negative comments were the same incidents I experienced with Freedom Solar. They seem to be super busy acquiring clients but fail to retain a decent service level. Their electrician failed to show up on the agreed upon time. Finally showed up over 2 weeks later. They applied for a second loan when I added more panels, instead of modifying my initial loan. Now I have a dent on my credit report for money I never received and shouldn't owe. I called them but assigned my case to a sales rep who is busy trying to sell panels. A grave matter should be priority. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau then most likely we will end up in court. read more

I was so excited to have freedom solar instal our panels. We cancelled with another company we were working with because they convinced me that they were the way to go. We worked with Our sales Rep August and got signed up in January 2022. That was the only good thing that came out of this. We've had delay after delay and nobody is taking responsibility for the next step. It is now almost Septemeber and we still have no panels on our roof. Sent emails and voicemails but nobody seems to care. The last thing we were told to do was to ask the electric company to approve the installation. The electric company told us that there is a installation fee. Freedom solar said that they would pay that fee so we went ahead and approved it. Now Freedom solar has disappeared and is not getting back to us. Really disappointed with this company. If their customer service is this bad to get the panels installed imagine how bad their customer service is if there's an issue with the system? read more

Sigi at Freedom Solar should be avoided. I asked for a quote for a 4kW system install on a single story 7/12 roof and they would not even quote a range without a meeting. From reading previous quotes they are expensive, and were not forthcoming with prices. So I passed Update: Sigi is just a scheduler, but failed to tell me that. truly disappointing interactions with freedom solar who refused to even send someone out to provide a quote. already in process of getting quotes from several competitors, however freedom solar rep, supervisor and manager who's names I have all refused to even schedule someone to come out and look at the property due to trees on the property. However they are looking at 10+ year old satellite images which don't actually show the current trees or the property accurately with the added garage and carport. utility concierge actually recommended this company at closing but I have written them to share the terrible experiences and recommend they go with other available companies locally or nationally like Vivint solar. Initially I called for a quote and explained the trees and they said that's okay we will send someone out to give a quote and explain which trees need to come down and refer us to arborists they work with in the area. But today the rep, the supervisor and the manager all refused to schedule someone and said call back to schedule a quote after removing the trees, but didn't specify what trees need to be removed or offer any referrals. Truly disappointing, dropped the ball and looking forward to working with a company more invested in their customers and more willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. read more

5 stars for the system and installation 2 stars for the service after sale I am a Freedom Solar customer. I purchased a 9.27 KW Sun Power solar system that I am very happy with. The system is performing as advertised. The sales and installation process were fantastic. I am extremely happy with my purchase. However, the service after the sale was not good. My electric bills have been on average -$10. I currently have a credit with Austin Electric. My system has been running since late December. I spent almost a decade in industrial and commercial sales. I was a manufacturers representative for steam and hydronic systems. I specialized in Steam Boilers and steam systems. I also specialized in hydronic systems and pumps. So, I have quite a bit of experience in construction and sales. I left the industry in 2007, to pursue other passions. I mention my background because I feel it is relevant to my experience with Freedom Solar. My Salesmen's name was Robert Bradshaw. He did a fantastic job on earning my sale. I really dug into the technical details and asked a lot of questions. I pitted Robert against another salesman from one of their competitors. I even showed each salesman the other's bid. Robert was helpful, informative, gracious and handled my sale like a real pro. I was a very difficult customer and I know it. I can not say enough about his service in gaining my sale. However, once all the paperwork was signed, and the permitting was finished and I was handed off to the installation team, his service really dropped off. I had a really difficult time getting answers after the sale was closed. It took more than a week and multiple emails to get answers. I realize he has many customers and earns a living from commissions, but given how well he handled my sale, I was extremely disappointed in his service after the sale. When I would email Robert, he tended to give me a stock answer rather than looking into my particular sale and finding the answer I was looking for. In particular, I had issues getting my Friends and Family rebate from Sun Power. Robert assured me he had taken care of the paperwork on February 23rd, when in fact he did not turn in the paperwork until April. I have had issues with my solar System's reporting features that I have asked about on 3 separate occasions. They have never addressed the issue it has been 9 months since I brought up the issue and it has not been resolved. i have tried to contact 4 different people at freedom and no one has returned an email. The issue is minor and does not affect the system's performance. I am very happy with my purchase and their installation team, but I am extremely disappointed in the service I received after the sale. I was going to include this in my closing survey rather than go to social media, but Robert took the survey away from my wife as she was filling out ofter she was only able to answer 2 questions. Once, I signed the last check, i was completely ignored. I recommend Freedom highly, their system is outstanding I feel like any big issues were addressed in a timely fashion. However, Their service after installation in dealing with minor issues has been terrible. Do not sign the last check until your system is !00%. read more

We had Freedom Solar install panels on our house in Rockport, Texas. Federico was our sales rep and walked us through the whole process. He was very professional, knowledgeable and obviously likes his job. The free evaluation provided good information on what the setup would look like and its performance. They provided all the necessary information on both the Federal and utility rebate. Through their affiliates, they arranged for a low interest loan for the residual cost and a zero interest loan to cover the Federal tax credit. There were no out of pocket expenses and the installation went smoothly. There was a minor hiccup when the electrical interface between our wind turbine and the solar panels created a unpleasantly noisy control box, but it was quickly re-engineered and is now perfectly quiet. I did the first full year's analysis of the production recently and found that we produced electricity in excess of what was necessary to cover the cost of the loan. The excess is sufficient to cover nearly two months of air conditioning down here on the coast, so this is a considerable value-added. One word of caution for folks considering installation. The local utility companies do not have to by back your excess production in Texas. That will alter the financials of the investments, so do your homework. Green Mountain Electric is our provider and buys back the excess. read more

In a Word "Awesome" company! These guys are top notch. As the other reviews have said they are super responsive and for someone like myself that had lots of questions this made all the difference. I called up Freedom Solar after getting several other quotes and actually just canceling a contract with A/C Solar Solutions. Talk about timing... They had just given a presentation at my wife's company and she asked me to give them a call. Over the phone I told them about what I was looking for with system size and the panel options I was considering. Within a few hours they had pulled my home information off the net and had a proposal with size and quoted cost. They walked me through all the details and the pros and cons on the systems I was considering. They were SUPER respectful and you could tell that they have a customer first mentality that's not just words on a page. You could also tell that they have a passion for what they do! and Adrian specifically, I'm super glad that I was fortunate enough to have him as an installer on this project. He took the time to answer my even more questions, show me the details of my system and gave me his cell phone number to ring him up if I had other questions. And he answered when I called! They worked around my crazy travel schedule and had the panels ordered and installed in a matter of week. They ensured all the needed information was submitted to AE to get the rebate. They also came out to meet with the inspector and ensure that everything went smoothly and that any issues would be quickly resolved. And last but not least, the install comes with a product lifetime service/labor warranty from Freedom Solar, with Freedom monitoring production. There were a few hiccups through the process, such as Austin Energy modifying/reducing the rebate amount and some gutter downspout clearance stuff but the first was not something that Freedom could control and the second was quickly resolved. I recommend this company HIGHLY! Actually, my neighbors have been asking me to let them know how everything goes as they are considering installing solar as well and I HAVE recommended Freedom and will continue to do so... We took the plunge into solar in the summer of 2014. Between falling solar panel prices, federal rebates, and utility incentives it made sense. Both financially and feeling good about producing energy from the sun. We got quotes from a number of companies. We decided on Freedom for a number of reasons. One the only offered us micro inverter systems. These produce more energy, more reliably than something called string systems. Second they used panels made in North America. The panels and inverters had good warranties. They also offered true no interest financing for a year which allows us time to get our federal rebate. So the price and panels were good. Then the installers were efficient and pleasant. Reps were always available via email or phone. Output so far in the first two months has met or exceeded projections. Note we are in Oncor service area so not just Austin offers rebates although Oncor can run out of rebate money later in a year. Over all highly recommended you at minimum contact Freedom and I recommend putting them at the top of your list. read more

The best words to described Freedom Solar Power is "the Dept of Consumer Affairs/ BBB" Please stay away from this subcontractor. I installed the 16 panels in 12/2018 and has been living with a nightmare and frustration from the Freedom Solar Power. Thank you for the hail storm in my area that my home insurance policy covered the removal and re-installation. However, the 16 panels are taking up my backyard spaces. I am in the process to file a complaint with the BBB with their Contractor's assistance. Freedom Solar power company reps are great with saying "We're sorry and apologize" and no accountability. I have had emailed and verbal conversation with both the billing department, Vicki Johnson and the Manager, Dougg Soester to explained why my production is not the same as the first year. The can't provide a straight answer nor documentation to prove it otherwise. I will do a follow up review after the Freedom Power investigation and filing the complaint with the BBB agency. Today's update. We are still without a complete installation. I was told my situation was up grated to priority. Originally I was told I wouldn't have to pay a bill for the first two months once the system is turned on. I was also told everything will be ready to go before the end of December 2022. No wiring installed, no batteries connected and I'm now told the next step isn't until January 31st. This means I owe a payment on this in mid January and it won't be hooked up. Tried to talk to the bank the financing went through, they repeatedly said they couldn't help because Freedom Solar has already been paid. They never asked if the job was done. The recommended bank we are using filed for a lean against the property now and want us to pay for them putting a lien on it. We said no. Waiting to see where this goes. Should be interesting. No way I would recommend Freedom Solar. The only reason we are making what progress we are, I keep calling everyone that is accused of slowing the progress. The only common denominator of the project being held up, Freedom Solar just not getting this done. Now they been paid I have no idea how long this will take. The Freedom Solar team has been phenomenal this week. We currently live in a home that is less than a year old and we decided to get solar panels. Well there happened to be a leak in our roof which we had both the roofer and The Freedom Solar panel team come out and assess. However, the roofer did not want to do their job and blamed the leak on Freedom, he was very dismissive and just continued on about it being an issue with our solar panels. The Freedom servicemen continued to assess the leak over a few days and they sealed and resealed their intrusions. However, there was another leak and again I called out Freedom and my roofer, well Freedom identified that the leak was from the roof, they also provided me with pictures. So of course the same roofer came out and looked at the pictures and assessed that the ac seals were not properly sealed. So he seals one side of the roof, but the other side he did not because he said the solar panels needed to be moved (which they did not need to be moved). So I called and tried to schedule appointments to get Freedom and the roofer out and the roofer dispatcher told me by having solar panels that voids my roof warranty and they wanted to charge me $200 for just coming out to reseal an issue they messed up on. So since Freedom knew where the leaks were coming from the manager authorized them to come out and seal up the spots where water was leaking. She could have easily said, ma'am that's not our problem, but no she took time to assist me and the team came out with delightful and prompt service to make sure there was no leak. I truly appreciate Freedom because there could have so much damage done to our home, but they made it a point to assist us immediately! Such a disheartening experience. I will just say that once you make the mistake of adding solar panels to your roof you are in for some shocking news should you need to remove them and replace them for repairs. Wait for it....$2700 to remove them and another $2700 to come and put them back up. That is $5400. How many months to recoup the costs of that when you haven't recouped the cost of having them in the first place. But don't forget to add the cost of the roof repairs to that and now you may ask, who can afford this? I really want to be green but this was an unexpected disappointment. In addition, if we wanted to get a bid from another company for removal and replacement, they said we would lose our warranty on the panels. What kind of professional service is that. I am sad to learn the downsides of going solar. Who knew? Just ask all the questions you can think of, or put your panels somewhere else! read more

I have had the Solar Panels installed since mid December 2020 it is now Feb. 9, 2021. I have had to make payments on the loan and they still have not scheduled Entergy to come and inspect so they can get permission to operate. As of this time they have no idea when that will happen.
