I recently managed to spill half a cup of coffee on my laptop, which absolutely wrecked my keyboard and left me brokenhearted. I had assumed the damage was not fixable (or would require fixes out of my price range) but figured I'd have it checked out before making that fateful decision to replace the laptop. Ron is very good at what he does, but what separates him from other repair services are his customer service skills. Ron is friendly and welcoming, prompt to respond to emails/calls, and always willing to explain the work he's doing. Throughout the whole experience he made me feel confident that my computer could be fixed (and at a reasonable price) despite my assumptions otherwise, and I especially appreciated the extra effort he went to in order to keep me updated on the progress throughout the week. I flew from Sarasota to SFO. When I got on the plane and turned on my computer it would not boot. My Lenovo Ideapad is 9 years old and it was getting to be very slow. I took my laptop to Ron and asked him to "decrapify" my computer and see if it would take an extra 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. Lenovo states that the maximum RAM the Ideapad can take is 8 GB. Ron said he had plenty of RAM and if he couldn't add the RAM there would be no charge. Thankfully he was successful in adding the RAM and I now have 16 GB of RAM. I think Lenovo purposely understates the upgrade path for the Ideapad so people will purchase the more expensive Thinkpad. Ron also informed me that my Western Digital 7200 RPM hard drive was failing and recommended replacing it with an SSD. Naturally I said yes and he did that too. Now it is like I have a brand new computer. It boots up in 12 seconds compared to 150 seconds previously. The man is truly gifted when it comes to computers. He is also very honest and very fast. I contacted him to repair the port connector on my Dell laptop. His communication was very timely and friendly. He researched the model and let me know that the power connector on this model is not on the main board, so the repair would not cost the standard (reasonable) power connector charge, but only an hourly rate. He said the connector is on its own little board, which was likely what was loose, preventing my laptop from charging. I dropped my computer with him at 915 am and it was finished by 130pm. $80 well spent. A very positive experience. read more

I can't recommend Ron highly enough. Possibly the best service experience I've ever had given circumstance. I brought my laptop to Ron as there was a problem with the power port. Turned out I had fried the motherboard when trying to fix it myself. It wasn't worth it to fix given it was an older computer. Ron was generous enough to lend me an old laptop and even transferred my hard-drive over so that I could have access to all my old files while figuring out what to do next. I ultimately got a new laptop and returned the loaner to Ron. When I asked how much I owed him for all the trouble - he said $0 given he couldn't fix! As fair a treatment as I've received in a long time (maybe too generous)! Hopefully my review here will drum up some additional business for him and can act as a kind of payment. Very recently I spent close to three hours at the Genius Bar, Burlingame Apple Store, with the need to retrieve my iPhoto library dating back to 2003. My Mac desktop is a 2007; and when iPhoto converted to Photo a few years back, I lost my library archive. The Genius Bar tech informed me that I needed to downgrade from El Capitan to the Snow Leopard operating system, which meant erasing all content from my computer. Genius Bar could not help me. End of story. They referred me to two local computer tech shops, neither of which responded to my repair inquiry when I reached out by voicemail. I am a librarian, and all about finding people who can help. I found Ron Gravatt in San Carlos, who is a gem! -- utterly competent, respectful, and personable. I had a Dell laptop that suddenly had a very noisy fan. It was out of warranty by a few months so I hit the Internet to find a local computer repair person. I came across Ron and his computer repair service and his reviews said it all. And, I can now say from experience that they are all accurate. First of all, Ron is a very nice and friendly person and very easy to deal with. On top of that, he is very knowledgable about PCs and also Macs and even iPads. He actually repairs all of them. You cannot go wrong with Ron. He is incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and his prices are very reasonable. We switched internet providers at work and experienced many bumps along the road. Ron helped us with the switch and went to battle against Comcast and CBeyond to get all of our domains/emails/info transferred over (which turned out to be a nightmare of a process). Several thumb drives were potentially corrupted or infected with malware, such that they could not be read- had important files on them. In addition Windows 10 Plus operating system was not working correctly-couldn't open Start menu and search function. Ron was able to quickly and effectively resolve the issues at a very fair rate. Ron resurrected my Sony laptop that would mystifyingly shut down immediately on startup. It had valuable files that I needed access to, and I had no desire to take it to Geek Squad or some other impersonal service. Ron was very accessible, got right back to me, and was able to quickly diagnose the problem (a broken power jack). The fix involved pulling the motherboard and installing a new jack, and the cost was only a little over $100. What a relief! I wish I had called Ron months ago.
