Enjoyed my visit!!! Lovely food and some really cool decorations. Will definitely be going again as the menu has more good stuff by the looks of it

I was in the mood for fish and chips and decided to give this restaurant a try. We went on a Sunday for brunch. It wasn't too busy, but as we were leaving, we noticed it getting busier. Our waiter was also the bartender, but he did a great job coming around often and getting our order in and out quickly. We all started with drinks. I had the Irish old-fashioned. It was just what I expected. For my meal I had to get the fish and chips because that's the reason I went to this restaurant for. The fish and chips were very good. The fries were delicious. I would go back just for the fries. I am not sure if they are hand cut, but that's how they taste and look. The dish comes with three good size servings of fish. It is perfectly battered. The restaurant has one section that looks like an Irish pub and another section that's bright and reminds me of a tea house. They have parking on site. The music is very traditional.

I stopped by The Cottage Bar planning to sit at the bar and ended up catching happy hour which is absolutely the move. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wings and wow. I had never tried them before and now I am fully obsessed. Crispy bold and flavorful without trying too hard. One of those dishes that surprises you in the best way. I paired it with a mule from the happy hour menu and it hit just right. Cold refreshing and balanced which made it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The bar itself feels like a classic neighborhood tavern. Lots of rich wood paneling warm textures and low lighting that reminds me of an old school dive bar you would find up north but polished and intentional. It is cozy without feeling cramped and relaxed without feeling sloppy. This is the kind of place that works for a quick bite after work an easy happy hour or a laidback date where you actually want to talk. Comfortable welcoming and quietly charming. I came for the bar but I will definitely be back for the food.

Thank goodness for Guineas beer... We had a large group meet here to celebrate my nephew's birthday. Food was pretty good. I enjoyed the chicken pot pie, but my wife did not very much. Enjoy her fish and chips. Said that they did not have a lot of flavor. But the Guinness was flowing and it was delicious as it should be! This is a nice place. Very laid-back with a big patio and a game room attached. Will likely be back here for appetizers and drinks.

Fun spot for st paddy's day weekend. Good food & service. Great music. Feels like we're back in Ireland.

Some of the best fish and chips I ever had.

Honestly if you have read my seafood reviews, you know that I am a BIG time fish and chips fan. We love to try out fish and chips where ever we go if it is on the menu. There are exceptions though depending what else the restaurant offers, but for the most part it's fish and chips and something else to share and try. The wife found this place when visiting her parents in San Antonio. The fish and chips are on point here, very on point. The service is great. The ambiance is dark, just like what you find in the pubs of Great Britain. This is a spot you definitely need to try if you are in the area.

What a fun night at The Cottage Irish Pub during team building time playing music bingo. There was also a great raffle being offered where I want a paintball package so that was neat. I enjoyed a hamburger and a soft drink and was very happy with the way it was prepared and the portion size price point. There's a consistency to the type of things I look for and write about my reviews . A lot of places serve food, which is great then you can get into the experience on a personal level based on how you're treated in the overall environment. Even the best food in a bad place doesn't make you wanna go back. With The Cottage Irish Pub, you get the best of both worlds. The service was great. The people were friendly in the food was good. I actually wish I had tried the cheesecake which I saw someone else have. There's plenty of reasons to go back and I enjoy the decor too . Everyone had a great time and I can see why there is such a popular spot on Broadway. Do yourself a favor stop wondering and step on in. The fact that they remind you, there's a service for you to get home safe earns its place. It's four star that is the difference between viewing people as signs and treating patrons with respect. Great job folks.

I was in San Antonio visiting my family, and we had lunch after checking out the Witte Museum right across the street. This place is exactly what I picture a pub in Ireland looking like! They managed to seat our group of 9 without any issue, and the service was top-notch throughout our stay. Everyone in the group absolutely loved their food. The Guinness beef stew and the cottage pie were definitely our favorites!

Came to meet some friends to watch some soccer matches and had a good time. The Cottage has an inviting and friendly vibe that is great for groups to gather and have a pint. Getting hungry, I ordered the cottage pie which comes with a side of Irish brown soda bread. After a while the food came out and I have to say it was rather bland and a bit greasy for my taste. The portion size was hearty, and the soda bread was good with some butter. Overall, the is a good spot to gather with friends and watch sports while enjoying some adult beverages. I look forward to coming back with the gang for another round.

When a place has returning customers, you know they're doing something right!! Welcome into The Cottage Irish Pub on Broadway (not far from The Hayden) Since my first review. I've come back for lunch and enjoyed their Beef Stew. Absolutely fantastic. Most recently though, I came in for dinner on a Sunday night, around 6:00 and ordered the Fish & Chips. The meal comes with (3) generous pieces, lightly breaded and flakey without being dry or, too greasy. The bonus is the live music bringing just about everyone to stomping their feet and clapping hands. Fun times for the whole family. Check out the Cottage and discover a friendly place with great food and ice cold beer. As always - Eat in Good Health!

The city's best fish and chips!

The BEST fish and chips in San Antonio! We've been here many times and have tried many different menu items, all of which are delicious, but if you're looking for fish and chips you need not look further. Three large pieces of perfectly beer battered fish with house made fries, a hefty portion to leave you full and happy. The lighting there isn't the best, so the pictures don't do it justice. They even have the traditional malt vinegar if you ask for it. It comes with homemade tartar sauce and some lemon wedges (I always ask for extra) Other great things we've tried include the sausage sandwich, the breakfast, the cottage pie, bangers and mash, curry and chips, Reuben egg rolls, and the steak! Yes, the steak! It was surprisingly good, but everything is good here. They even have HH specials on Fridays until 6. Fish and chips are buy 1 get one 1/2 off on Tuesdays. They also have live music - check their schedule. Parking is a bit awkward but we've never been unable to find any. Service is always great.

Will always recommend their fish n chips
    Aldo C.

Theeee best Fish n Chips I've had anywhere. The staff here are always welcoming, I loved coming here for lunch at least once a week. Live music on the evenings with amazing artist, can get a little loud so not recommended for intersocial experiences but rather for a lively environment, at least during the evenings. But regardless great food and great beer selections.

They were overly breaded and not the tastiest I've had. The frozen Irish coffee was good but also not top notch. So why 5 stars? The live music talent on the night we went was incredible. Fiancee and I just exited a metal concert and wanted a couple drinks. The acoustic guitarist here had a very good voice, played so many nostalgic 90s songs, and masterfully transitioned from song to song while weaving them together seamlessly with similar bars. Kudos to this guy's vocals and to Waxy's for having the vision to invite a talented musician to play here, and as a result elevated our entire experience.

They have a great selection of whisky's and usually make a really good black and tan. Today I sat at the bar, I was greeted right away and got a beer in 20 secs. I've had the fish and chips here which were good. Bangers and mash I've had and enjoyed, Shepard pie is pretty good. Today I went with the BBQ burger. Food came out in about 10 mins from placing my order. Not bad, not great. My rating on the bbq burger. They did not ask me how I wanted it prepared, it was pretty much well done. The bun was a little hard, almost stale. There was not much bbq sauce on the bbq burger. With all the toppings, I'd give the burger 5 of 10. The hard bread took away from it for sure. I always like to try just the patty without anything on it to see how restaurants prepare their patties. It was about what I expected for a well done burger. Not much flavor, it tasted like well cooked ground round. I'd give it a 3.5. The fries were so so, I like fries more on the crispy side. These were more like thick steak fries, soft and limp. They were seasoned with salt and pepper. Not bad, not great. The beer I had... had an odd smell. It tasted ok, but I think the glass itself may have not been the cleanest. Hoping I don't get sick from a dirty glass. The bartender was nice enough to let me try their frozen Irish coffee. It was surprisingly delicious, like a boozy ice cream. It just seemed like a full glass would be too much. So I got a black and tan, which was good. If I was eating just this visit, I'd probably be between a 2-3, food was meh, and the dirty glass didn't help. If I include all my other visits I'm at 3-4, since this most recent experience I had to say I'm closer to a 3 than a 4.
