This is one of my favorites on Broadway. We frequent this place for so many reasons... location, great food, reasonable, variety, occasionally a band and in the past trivia nights. I had never ordered the Reuben because I thought I would be disappointed as I usually am with this sandwich. But no, the corned beef was tender! You didn't have to tug on the meat while biting to get a bite. Amazingly tender. Is it because it's not cut overly thick or is it how it's cooked. I think a combination of both. Previously I had ordered for delivery the Corn Beef and Cabbage Boxty which I was very disappointed with. I didn't even finish eating it, and I gave it one star. In the mean time I ordered the same meal again, and am happy to say it was much much better than the first time I ordered it. The meat looked fresh and it was juicy and tasty. The cabbage likewise was fresh and well-prepared, and the potato pancake was tasty. I give it 5 stars. read more

This was a tale of two shifts. The first shift handled our ipening drinks and appetizers ... enjoyed them! The cauliflower buffalo wings were firm and tasty. The curry french fries were okay ... not a huge fan of their curry sauce. The mule was very good as was the raspberry beer. The plates however were a different story. Every plate was cold .. not just not warm .. they were cold like sitting out on a counter for an hour cold. I heard the fish here was delicious so I wanted to try it out. A friend was actually having an event here and while here, I ordered the fish. This is some of the best fried fish I've had in a while and the french fries were also as equally tasty. I would highly recommend and I wanna come back and try other things on the menu. I will definitely be back parking was a little iffy because there looks like there's limited parking by just remember behind the building or on the side of the building there's more parking. read more

First time here as we were celebrating my niece's birthday. We had 8 total in our group. I have enjoyed Irish pubs in Georgia and California, and was very happy going to the Cottage (besides it across from my favorite BBQ restaurant the Smoke Shack). I ordered the Blackberry Bramble to drink. Very delicious, but maybe a little too sweet for some, but I enjoyed it (my apologies as I forgot to take a picture). For dinner I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish was flaky, the batter was light so the only heavy food on my plate was the chips. After finishing my Fish and Chips, I had no room for dessert but the cheesecake and bread pudding looked delicious and I will try them when I come back. I was in the mood for fish and chips and decided to give this restaurant a try. We went on a Sunday for brunch. It wasn't too busy, but as we were leaving, we noticed it getting busier. Our waiter was also the bartender, but he did a great job coming around often and getting our order in and out quickly. We all started with drinks. I had the Irish old-fashioned. It was just what I expected. For my meal I had to get the fish and chips because that's the reason I went to this restaurant for. The fish and chips were very good. The fries were delicious. I would go back just for the fries. I am not sure if they are hand cut, but that's how they taste and look. The dish comes with three good size servings of fish. It is perfectly battered. I stopped by The Cottage Bar planning to sit at the bar and ended up catching happy hour which is absolutely the move. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wings and wow. I had never tried them before and now I am fully obsessed. Crispy bold and flavorful without trying too hard. One of those dishes that surprises you in the best way. I paired it with a mule from the happy hour menu and it hit just right. Cold refreshing and balanced which made it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The bar itself feels like a classic neighborhood tavern. Lots of rich wood paneling warm textures and low lighting that reminds me of an old school dive bar you would find up north but polished and intentional. It is cozy without feeling cramped and relaxed without feeling sloppy. This is the kind of place that works for a quick bite after work an easy happy hour or a laidback date where you actually want to talk. Comfortable welcoming and quietly charming. Thank goodness for Guineas beer... We had a large group meet here to celebrate my nephew's birthday. Food was pretty good. I enjoyed the chicken pot pie, but my wife did not very much. Enjoy her fish and chips. Said that they did not have a lot of flavor. But the Guinness was flowing and it was delicious as it should be! This is a nice place. Honestly if you have read my seafood reviews, you know that I am a BIG time fish and chips fan. We love to try out fish and chips where ever we go if it is on the menu. There are exceptions though depending what else the restaurant offers, but for the most part it's fish and chips and something else to share and try. The wife found this place when visiting her parents in San Antonio. The fish and chips are on point here, very on point. The service is great. The ambiance is dark, just like what you find in the pubs of Great Britain. This is a spot you definitely need to try if you are in the area. read more

Got right in on a Thursday. Our server Belle was fantastic. She was very attentive and answered all our questions and made some recommendations. They have varying daily specials, this Thursday was steak and fries with a pint. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. The flavor on the steak was a little light but still decent. Fries were delicious. Wife's steak sandwich unfortunately missed the mark on the cook temp, there was still some pink even though we stressed absolutely no pink. Place was clean and all the staff seemed very friendly from the time we walked in the door until we walked out. We will be back to try some more traditional Irish food on the menu. read more

What a fun night at The Cottage Irish Pub during team building time playing music bingo. There was also a great raffle being offered where I want a paintball package so that was neat. I enjoyed a hamburger and a soft drink and was very happy with the way it was prepared and the portion size price point. There's a consistency to the type of things I look for and write about my reviews . A lot of places serve food, which is great then you can get into the experience on a personal level based on how you're treated in the overall environment. Even the best food in a bad place doesn't make you wanna go back. With The Cottage Irish Pub, you get the best of both worlds. The service was great. The people were friendly in the food was good. I actually wish I had tried the cheesecake which I saw someone else have. There's plenty of reasons to go back and I enjoy the decor too . Everyone had a great time and I can see why there is such a popular spot on Broadway. Do yourself a favor stop wondering and step on in. The fact that they remind you, there's a service for you to get home safe earns its place. It's four star that is the difference between viewing people as signs and treating patrons with respect. I was in San Antonio visiting my family, and we had lunch after checking out the Witte Museum right across the street. This place is exactly what I picture a pub in Ireland looking like! Came to meet some friends to watch some soccer matches and had a good time. The Cottage has an inviting and friendly vibe that is great for groups to gather and have a pint. Getting hungry, I ordered the cottage pie which comes with a side of Irish brown soda bread. After a while the food came out and I have to say it was rather bland and a bit greasy for my taste. The portion size was hearty, and the soda bread was good with some butter. Overall, the is a good spot to gather with friends and watch sports while enjoying some adult beverages. I've come back for lunch and enjoyed their Beef Stew. Absolutely fantastic. Most recently though, I came in for dinner on a Sunday night, around 6:00 and ordered the Fish & Chips. The meal comes with (3) generous pieces, lightly breaded and flakey without being dry or, too greasy. The bonus is the live music bringing just about everyone to stomping their feet and clapping hands. Fun times for the whole family. The BEST fish and chips in San Antonio! We've been here many times and have tried many different menu items, all of which are delicious, but if you're looking for fish and chips you need not look further. Three large pieces of perfectly beer battered fish with house made fries, a hefty portion to leave you full and happy. The lighting there isn't the best, so the pictures don't do it justice. They even have the traditional malt vinegar if you ask for it. It comes with homemade tartar sauce and some lemon wedges (I always ask for extra) Other great things we've tried include the sausage sandwich, the breakfast, the cottage pie, bangers and mash, curry and chips, Reuben egg rolls, and the steak! Yes, the steak! It was surprisingly good, but everything is good here. They even have HH specials on Fridays until 6. Fish and chips are buy 1 get one 1/2 off on Tuesdays. They also have live music - check their schedule. Parking is a bit awkward but we've never been unable to find any. Service is always great. read more

My favorite Irish pub in Texas! The only one I've found that feels like an Irish pub. Live music on the weekends! Kind staff who is very busy but never makes you feel like you're inconveniencing them. A delicious array of foods and beer. They have a generous, delicious happy hour as well! I always enjoy coming here for some quality time with loved ones in a cozy atmosphere. Parking can be a bit difficult, but there's street parking so it's never been a problem. We have been here many times, mostly for the happy hour, and every experience has been good. The servers are always friendly and the service is prompt. We have never been disappointed with the food, and we have tried a lot of different options. They have live music and daily food specials during the week, and a solid happy hour, so there is always something different going on. I also saw they do an English tea thing monthly that seems to be a hit. They also have a large room that can be rented for private events, if you are looking for a spot for that. Went on a Friday for lunch. Service was slow. It took the waitress about 15 minutes to come to our table to greet us (hostess sat us.) That's how the remainder of the visit went. The restaurant/pub was not busy, but all of the staff was busy. The best thing we ordered was the Cottage Pie on potato skins. Those were fantastic. My fish sandwich was also good, but needed salt. Awesome pub! Felt like I was in England or Ireland. The parking lot was full but snagged a spot on the street. Stopped around 3pm, wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. I ordered the fish and chips and my brother the hamburger. Food came out fast. It was fresh and hot! My fish and chips were large, nice and crispy. Their tartar sauce was awesome. Their fries definitely homemade and very thick cut. It was very good. My brother enjoyed his burger and cleaned up his plate. I had this pub on my bars to try in SA and cannot believe I have not been here the whole time I've lived here. Went down here with my wife to enjoy a couple of drinks and watch the NFC Championship game. Sat at the bar and started with a Smithwick since I have not had one in a long time. The bartender was great and we enjoyed our time here. The place is a lot bigger than I thought and wish we didn't have dinner plans, because the food looked incredible. Ordered the fish and chips along with the Guinness beef stew; both were tasty, but the stew arrived scalding hot, still boiling even after several minutes. The Cottage is now my favorite place for Irish pub grub. Sorry Waxy O'Connor's but you're just not it anymore. I don't like having to park downtown. The Cottage is in a spot that used to be Picante Grill from the 2000s to the early 2020s , a Cajun restaurant in the mid 90s and a Rolando's back in the 80s. Yes the building has a lot of history don't it? Parking gets filled quick. I like their fish and chips. They serve apps during happy hour that are big enough to make a meal out of. I ordered the curry fries which came with a dipping sauce. They were so generous with the fries that I had to forget about ordering corned beef and cabbage and just settled for a pork sausage sandwich instead. The sausages were served piping hot along with grilled onions. The sandwich almost reminded me of a Chicago style Italian sausage sandwich minus the sauce and giardinera. For dessert, I got the bread pudding and that was also good. First time I ate here ,service was ok. A waitress or runner almost sent me the wrong order that belonged to another customer. The host was kinda rude but my waiter was friendly though busy. The second time I ate here the host was friendly and the service was better. I also dined here for brunch and ordered the pork sausage with bacon , blood pudding and bread. I liked almost everything except the pudding and wouldn't order that again. I will return to order other items that seem good. read more
