Delete any solicitation email and ignore any solicitation phone call regarding a refinance you get from Fremont Bank. Believe me, you don't want to do a loan with them. This is coming from their current customer. Why? Let me tell you. I got a call from one of their reps back in January in which he told me that he would like to offer me a lower rate than what I currently had. I said okay. He asked some financial information from me, which I provided. Then I get a call from another rep a few days later and he asked me to give him the amount of $490 to lock in the rate as everything looked good based on my credit history and information I had provided, which I provided. Thereafter started a barrage of emails and disclosure documents needing signatures and asking for all sorts of documents such as bank statements, pay stubs, leases, tax documents etc. This went on for another month or so. So, close to end of February, I am getting a bit impatient and started inquiring about what was going on. Eventually, I get an email telling me that my loan had been denied and at first I am not given any particular reason, but, when I pressed a little bit harder, I am told that my debt to income ratio was not meeting the guidelines. I am surprised to hear that. When I asked how come this was not determined when I provided all the information initially to the rep before locking in the rate, I was not given a clear cut response. When I asked for the refund of the money I had already provided, I was declined and reason being that the underwriting had denied the loan and hence the deposit could not be refunded, which sounded like a complete hogwash to me. It is very clear to me that Fremont bank is running a scam which involves soliciting loan customers, getting them to deposit money to lock in the rate and then when the underwriting denies the loan based on their stringent guidelines, the bank still pockets the money. The bank does not even care about its current customers like me. I have stellar credit history and should be easily able to get the loan except all these banks are following very stringent guidelines that make no sense, like a debt to income ratio of 45-50%. That's a total nonsense. With that kind of ratio, why would I need a loan? Also, how come their reps don't check the customer's ratio against all the guidelines before getting them to commit? So, people, if you want to avoid all the hassle I have had and want to safeguard your money, please don't do business with this bank. I don't know if and when I would get my money back, but I hope that enough people read my comments go to other better banks and hopefully I can recoup my cost by denying this bank business worth perhaps lot more than what they got from me and then maybe this bank will learn how to deal fairly with customers or maybe not. read more

ok i been living in south hayward about 35 years. this bank absolutely sucks. first off its locked down tighter than fort knox. you have to hit a button for a buzzer. then some scared ass woman on the other side. goes oh what is your business here. then she wants to play 100 freaking questions. ok if you want know all my info hell do a freaking back ground check. or take me on a date at least. shit she was asking questions the priest, my lawyer, and even my mother don't even ask. i don't even think god himself would ask the questions this woman was asking. they are not friendly. they are a pain in the ass. im talking both cheeks and the tailbone. type of pain in the ass. i don't know why they even have a branch here its a ghost town you look inside you can't see no one working. but there is a woman playing big brother with a security system. and they are racist, biased, hate fat people, disabled people, anyone that lives in south hayward or even looks ghetto. they are rude to local businesses in the area. they are rude to dialysis patients that just got out of davita down the strip mall. so this place can literally kiss my big fat tall blinding white ass. customer service is a joke. i called and complained many times. its like why are you in south hayward if your not going to help the community. and if your not helping your just making things worse. read more

I started my search for best rate and bank to fund my short-sale home purchase. After looking at different banks mainly on the Rates & Fees for a 30 year fixed mortgage , used Zillow Mortgage/Bank Rate to find the best rate. I was surprised to see Fremont Bank offering similar rates as some unknown out of state bank. First contacted Fremont bank over phone and I was assigned Jason Gallagher as my loan officer. He provided the best rates, even better than one published online by Fremont bank. My closing was supposed to be on 11/30, the Title company was slaking and delayed the processing for almost 2 weeks. Jason was great he personally made sure the loan closed as promised, event though it was was not the banks fault in the delay. He personally hand carried loan documents from Title Company to Fremont bank to fund the loan just days before closing. I have an unusual and very good experience with Fremont Bank that is worth broadcasting to others. It was as follows: I needed to make an ACH transaction near the Christmas holiday of 2019 or my company would suffer a large monetary penalty. I needed to pay on time. I was comfortable with bank automatic payments by check but never an ACH, bank to bank. Carrie Valle initiated the procedure with forms and put a "rush" on the order for the fobs (passcode device). Normally this procedure takes a week or more. Problem: I was flying to the Caribbean in a week. Then Rachelle Wright, delivered the 2 fobs to me before I left. Then the business center called me in the Caribbean, on my cell, to help me step-by-step(several calls) until we accomplished the ACH payment. Easier than it appeared in hindsight. They take the time to get to know you and greet you by name. Carrie Morales is a great manager who always finds the time to help you if you need her. Martha rocks! I haven't had a problem yet that she couldn't solve. Their service alone is the reason I opened my teenage son's first bank account at this branch. Avoid Fremont Bank at all costs! We chose Fremont Bank for our estate wealth management. From Day 1, the communication, service and strategy was terrible. Can you imagine emailing your Wealth advisor and it takes him 2+ weeks to get back to you. But we also put in phone calls on this very important matter and never got a call back. Then after months of putting up with this terrible service, I finally reached out to the Wealth manager's boss, and all he did 3x was send my personal email about needing help and my bad experience to the Wealth manager. This is the third transaction and 2nd loan I have out with Fre Bank. Their rates are unbeatable esp for refi and their service from the loan officer (Josh) is top notch. They are responsive, quick and efficient with the steps involved and up until the underwriting process I had no complaints. I realize that restrictions are tighter now for underwriiting but the last minute hoops I had to jump through for underwriting requirements seemed ridiculous to me.
