I came here with a friend after she highly recommended the place. The restaurant itself is nice looking, with a cool outdoor part overlooking the water... But that's really as good as it gets. We came in early for lunch. There were just two other tables of people there, yet we waited almost half an hour before the waitress even came over to greet us. Lunch is supposed to be quick, in and out. The waitress was clearly getting irritated as we asked questions about the menu and the drinks. She even rolled her eyes. The food arrives another half an hour later and it's far from impressive. The wine was the only part of the meal worth the money. Will I be back? Probably not. I'm upping my previous review. Adding a star. The food is good here. I've always gotten take out but I've heard that the restaurant itself is nice to eat in because of the view of the water. I can definitely see that. It's kind of tucked almost all the way down Cross Bay Blvd before the bridge. Menu is diverse as far as Chinese and Japanese selections. Came here this past weekend and had a subpar experience. First of all for a Saturday night around 8pm the restaurant and bar was pretty much empty. The hibachi tables were full but besides that the place was empty. We were sat in a back corner both away from everything in an empty restaurant which was pretty strange. My fiance and I each got a soup to start which was served with a plastic spoon. If I am going to spend $100 for dinner (which is what our bill was including a $25 bottle of wine) I should be given real utensils. Then when we were ordering our main course my fiance was trying to substitute the tempura crunch out of her roll due to her gluten allergy and the server was not being overly friendly. When the sushi came it was presented very nicely and the taste was average. Overall I will not be going back here for sushi, which is such a shame because it is a big beautiful place right on the water. read more

Fairly small, but not too small -- it had an intimate feel being seated in the back booths. It was nice for a date. The waiter was friendly and attentive, the lychee martini was good. ($10 each) We ordered a specialty roll and a hand roll appetizer, both were really good. Negatives: It could use an update, I'm used to newer/modern looking Asian fusion restaurants. So my last experience 9 months ago was horrible but I ordered delivery tonight to give Frenasia another try after management responded to my review and apologized and promised a better experience. I ordered a salad which was pretty good, the lettuce wraps again with shrimp which were AMAZING! And I also had a mama Mia roll. The roll was very fresh and delicious! Just finished having an order delivered wheee the delivery guy yelled "YOU HAVE CASH FOR TIP" and would not give me my food until I tipped him. I love coming here every once in a while. The picture does no justice of how good it was. The portion sizes were huge. It wasn't until almost finishing when I remembered to take a photo! Staff is attentive. Won't disappoint. I love this place. I've been going to this place for years and I'm glad to see it bounce back from Hurricane Sandy. It's pricy but affordable for a night out. They have a wide variety of services from a sports bar in front, hibachi and outdoor dining with an amazing view of the bay. Service is friendly and quick but they do get swamped so orders get mixed up once in a while. Pro tip just make them repeat it. I love this place. The food is always amazing. It's fun to sit and wait to see the door decor. Always a treat. I usually get the avocado tempura roll and I must say that they are the best in town. I often get the tom yum vegetable soup also which is good, always. There's an outdoor seating area with the view of the water. Very beautiful; it's great for those summer days when you're looking to unwind and enjoy some good food. The decor on the inside is the restaurant is great. Very nice setting; perfectly subdued. My new go to place. Food was excellent. The have a habatci and a full bar. I got so many appetizers I can't remember. Pineapple rice was with chicken my favorite. Chicken and beef skews . Today I decided to order for the first time. I ordered Pineapple fried rice with no vegetables and the lobster and shrimp hibachi no vegetables in the rice. The pineapple rice had vegetables and not one pineapple. Really I called the restaurant and the guy said he put the carrots and green peas and did not put the pineapple because pineapple are considered vegetables. He said I should have noted to add the pineapples. Really it's Pineapple fried rice I should not have to say I want the pineapple. The lobster and shrimp was good but it only came with 4 shrimp and some lobster with a bowl full of vegetables. Not worth the $30. Came here on a date with my boyfriend last night unexpectedly. I was craving sushi and wasn't having the best of days so we decided to come here. It was close to where my boyfriend lives too so it was convenient in that way but I didn't expect it to be that nice. I would say that it is a good spot to go on a casual date, not to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries but just a day you want to make a little special for your special someone. So we went there around 8:30pm and was seated right away, the menus were given to us and the waitress was polite too. We ordered rock shrimp as an appetizer which was good but I think with a little more sauce, it would definitely be better. As for drinks, we both ordered a Shirley temple. I never had that before so I was curious to see how it tasted, I ended up not really liking it though. It was okay, but I'm not a fan of cherries. With our appetizer order and drinks, we decided to also order our entree because I personally get the same sushis and my boyfriend loves Sushis so much, he already knows what he wants. Before we could even finish the appetizer though, our entree was here. It was a little startling at first but we were hungry so there wasn't necessarily a problem. A plate of crunchy spicy tuna roll came out along with shrimp tempura for me, and Boston roll, crunchy spicy tuna and shrimp avocado roll came out for my boyfriend. His shrimp avocado was delicious but I didn't really find there to be a difference between regular spicy tuna and crunchy so it was still pretty good to me. My boyfriend liked the Boston roll and the shrimp tempura was great too. The food in all was up to par or even more than we expected. As for the service however, I felt like things were a bit too rushed. My boyfriend literally took his last bite of the sushi he had left and the waitress quickly grabbed his plate and took it. I appreciate the efficient and quick service but it was not even busy and it gives off a very cheap atmosphere when service tends to be rushed. Customers want to take their time eating and not feel like we are being rushed to leave, it's a little disrespectful especially since we are putting our money into the business and closing time is no where near. I'm sure it wasn't that deep and she wanted to be a great waitress but even after we finished our dessert, right after actually, our check was waiting for us in her hands. She just slammed the check on our table and took our dessert pla. I think a pet peeve I have is when waiters bring you your check with out you asking, or don't even ask if we are ready for the check after a good amount of time after our last meal. I just find it a little annoying and was displeased with that. Other than that though, the food was great and I wouldn't mind going back there for sushi. read more

This was my favorite restaurant when they first opened. It opened as strictly Asian Fusion and for the first couple years they had the most amazing Food and plate presentation. They had things that were hard to come by like Morelle mushrooms. (In season 1 month out of the year) I guess people stopped going there because their prices were a little high so they changed their menu around, took out the morale mushrooms as well as a lot of their delicious specialty items. the restaurant is still good the ambience is wonderful. they have live music and their prices are lower but it's just not like how it used to be. it was very much like a city restaurant when they first opened for the first two years. now it's more like a neighborhood restaurant and very similar to the other Japanese and Chinese restaurants around here. that's the only thing that's disappointing to me. in the summer I love eating out in the garden and they have a great bar on the water. the waitstaff is always five stars the place is very clean the bathrooms are clean and if you don't have a reservation they always try to fit you in. All of their dishes have a lot of flavor taste fresh and are paired beautifully. We have valet parking and their hours are open late. I have came multiple times with groups of friends and family and they were so kind. This was my first time coming in alone and they were so rude. They kept staring at me but never came to check on me. I ordered 2 rolls with no meat and it took over 20 minutes to come. When I called a waiter over politely for a to go container and the check I was just stared at and I had to call over someone else. The staff is friendly, and usually the outside is open so you can sit by the water while you enjoy some drinks. It may be a bit outdated but overall there is a good atmosphere associated with the restaurant. Reasonably priced, and the scorpion bowl drink is good for two. This place used to be decent, but we had an experience yesterday that will cause us to never return. First, someone in our group received a relatively warm beer. When we told the server, she said "it's cold, but I guess not that cold so..." Then she kinda waited and said "you want a cold glass with ice?". Then, another person in our group received a horrible drink, (really, almost straight, cheap, flavored Bacardi). When we told the server, she rudely said, "so what do you want!?" Then, we found a HAIR on one of the coconut shrimps. Decide not to say anything bc we didn't wanna make a huge fuss. We just set that shrimp aside. But then, when the sushi came, we found ANOTHER HAIR. We tell the server, who fetches the "owner". The owner says she'll give us all the next round of drinks on the house, and proceeds to ask us all what we're drinking. She also says she'll replace the sushi dish. Then, a few minutes later, she returns and says "the bartender won't allow me to give you a round for free, so I will give you a $10 discount on your bill". Mind you, the bill was over $100. And THEN, she didn't even offer to replace the sushi dish, (she just refunds that). We call her back like, " um, are you bringing another sushi dish?" And she replies "oh you want?" ... "Ma'am, she didn't eat anything..." She just returned her entire plate, don't you think she's still hungry? What a mess. And the food is very meh... Never returning and I'd advise anyone reading this to consider somewhere else for better food, drinks, service and experience. read more

What a nice hidden find! Came in for dinner on a whim. Nice, romantic but fun decor, beautiful water views, sweet outdoor bar. The food was great. I made some special requests and they were met without issues. Service was attentive and food was fresh and inexpensive. Loved the miso soup and the California roll was one of the best I've had. I'm not a drinker these days so it would be nice to see some more creative beverages on the menu, but that's my only suggestion. I highly recommend giving this place a fair chance.
