Have been a fan of Oliver and Eduard's restaurant from their downtown WPB days and followed them to Pétanque in Northwood and now French Grill House. It's probably one of the most underrated steakhouses in South Florida. Have tried different types of steaks and they have all been good while leaving you full. Tonight was a special night for myself and wanted to celebrate - ordered a ribeye medium with fries and bernaise sauce. Cooked to perfection with chocolate mousse and an espresso. 10/10 - they are categorized as a French restaurant but the steaks are amazing. Also ask for their burger selection, it's phenomenal!! Service is always attentive and the vibes if you stay later on a Thursday - Saturday turns into a nice dance party with house music and a great, sophisticated crowd in jackets or shorts; all are welcome :) read more

Cool place in "developing Northwood area". Apparently been there for 4-5 years and somehow related to the Spanish restaurant next door. Seem to have music and dj starting at 10 and onto early hours. Well stocked bar and adequate parking if a bit sketchy. Food excellent and owner/ host as ever very welcoming and gave good advice on wine and menu chooses. Half chicken made in smokehouse(?) excellent with great sauce. Salmon generous and really tasty. Baked Brie with honey just right for simple starter as was the pate. This is a little gem tucked away in Northwood. We arrived just after they'd open for the evening, so we were greeted and seated promptly. The seating in the restaurant is primarily al fresco and the patio area is cover in astro-turf, potted plants, and other decorations. Both one of the owners and the server were extremely friendly and helpful in explaining their cooking style, the various dishes, and what to expect in terms of wait times. We opted for a grilled mozzarella and tomato stack-style appetizer to start, followed by grilled fish entrees. All the food we ordered was cooked over the wood fired grill, which imparted a pleasant and smoky taste to the dishes. The fish was cooked perfectly and well-complimented by their house sauces. We really enjoyed our meal and are looking forward to dining here again soon. I highly recommend trying the French Grill House. read more

In a word, fantastic. Great service and delicious food. Who could ask for anything more? I didn't know anything about the history of the chef/restaurant team before we came, so we weren't here for the cachet. I'd read a short review and the dishes sounded intriguing. We called and left a message on the answering machine (they're only open for dinner) regarding a reservation and headed over. The restaurant is located in the historic northwood section. We were early so easily parked the car on the street nearby. Inside, it is small with a limited number of tables. Outside, they have a large charming garden patio area with a counter/bar and tables. We opted to sit inside as there was only one other couple dining there -- and it was a very hot day. We had excellent service -- professional, but personable. And the menu had quite a few choices among which to decide. We started by sharing the grilled avocado appetizer. Perfect that it was two small grilled haas avocado halves filled with chick peas with a tomato "relish" sauce. This was a good starter for us -- creamy avocado with a slight grill taste. For our entree, I chose their whole grilled branzino. Market price was $30 that evening. And for my side (you get a choice of one included), I added grilled asparagus. The whole fish was just the right size and delicious. It was a perfect combo of charred flavor on the outside and tender fish inside. I've eaten whole fish many times, so no problem navigating. All that was left in the end was the skeleton (bones)! You also get a choice of a sauce/butter and I selected the Moroccan one. I also really liked the grilled asparagus which I had not been sure would be good grilled, but was proved wrong. My husband got their "steak of the day" -- which was flank steak when we went. Oh my, it was very good. He had a hasselback potato for his side -- the potato is sliced almost all the way through -- and topped with butter and scallions. He actually had a portion of each to take home (for his breakfast with eggs the next day). Can't wait to come back -- have my eye on their grilled Caesar salad and maybe one of their steaks? The ribeye? So happy we decided to try them. I think we've found our new favorite in this area. read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant on recommendations from others and it did not disappoint. It is located on a sleepy street that West Palm is trying to revitalize but the street just doesn't get the traffic. Once inside, you feel like you are transported to more of funky bohemian place and time. The decor and lighting are perfect. We started with the pate and tapenade. An Inviting outdoor patio awaits you as you enter, beyond it is an outdoor garden which will make you feel as if you're in the South of France. The ambience overall is superb, and the staff are exceedingly gracious and timely. On top of that the food was marvelous! I had the wood grilled wild salmon served with grilled asparagus. It was a nice size piece of fish. We saved room for dessert, as must you!I recommend the crème brûlée. They have a good wine list, both by bottle and glass. I just also like to mention how pleased I was to enjoy dining in a new restaurant where I wouldn't have changed a thing. Grilled whole Branzino for my wife with grilled Asparagus and for me the Grilled Flank Steak with a grilled Hasselback Potato. We started with the Grilled Avocado which had a nice smoky grilled flavor, along with Chick Peas and a tomato puree on the side of the avocado halves. I ordered a glass of their NZ Sauvignon Blanc to go with my entree. My Flank Steak was nicely grilled and tender. The Hasselback potato was grilled hot, tender, and sliced so I could pull off bite sized bits. My wife enjoyed her Asparagus and Branzino, leaving only a skeleton on her plate and a smile in her face! We shared an Apple Tartin with Vanilla Icecream topped with almond slices. Yum! Terrific healthy(ish) food in a great outdoor atmosphere. Been here twice and each time was great. It's a weird entrance setup, you go into a propped open side door, and the inside looks a little dingy (but with some nice decorative touches and a beautiful bar) Once you step outside into the garden you are created with the smell of wood smoke. Edward the owner is very gracious. There is a back garden area with a little fountain that is lovely. Food is all grilled, hence the healthy ish. I loved the tuna steak, great marinade. The flank steak and pork chop were good, they lean on excellent sauces to liven things up. Sides of asparagus, and ratatouille were outstanding, I wished the hasselback potato was crispier on the edges, otherwise what's the point of hasselbacking it. There is a terrific cocktail program with some New Orleans classics and some nee additions. The peach melba was delicious. Highly recommend, go check it out. read more

I would love to give one additional star but I cannot. The food is spectacular. Never disappointed. The service is great. Nothing to complain about. But there is one important thing...the smell. The damp smell is overpowering and needs to be taken care of. The ambiance needs a little help. The restaurant business is a mostly a sensory experience. Smell, taste, visual, tactile, etc. Please do something to dry the place out. It makes me a little concerned about the kitchen conditions. Other than that, the place is top.
