We had two servers, which actually had the opposite effect of what you would expect - neither was around the few times we needed anything. We had to wait to flag anyone down, multiple times, despite supposedly having two servers at our table. The cauliflower was served so hot it was honestly dangerous. The space is dim and it was hard to see just how much steam was coming out of it. This dish should not have been brought out at this temperature and my friend badly burned her mouth taking a bite. Once it did cool down, we all tried it and it tasted so bland it honestly wasn't even worth eating. It tasted like standard steamed cauliflower and I don't remember what it supposedly came seasoned with, but none of it had flavor. We also got the truffle corn side dish and onion rings. The corn was small bud edible. The onion rings, however, were not. They were SO hard that I couldn't bit into them and when I tried to use a fork and knife it ended up just making a mess. We ended up barely making a dent in both the cauliflower and onion rings and when they took our plates we were honest that both dishes were basically inedible. They very kindly removed them from our bill which we appreciated.

For how excited we were, it didn't feel romantic/have the ambiance we envisioned for something as special as Valentine's Day. The tables were very very very close together where you could hear the conversations in the middle of the dining room next to you and did not have the ability to choose a section with more room even though we made a reservation a month in advance. When seated, we were a little rushed to pick drinks/food right away to get it in. The server didn't go deeply into specials or anything like a normal fine dining experience. We honestly would've gotten more if we weren't rushed right away. The grouper and beef dumplings were amazing. I love how the Caesar salad had a more grilled/torched taste when eating. It added a new flavor and I liked it a lot. I want to try the sushi next time or go during a weekday night when not as many people are there.

The food was delicious. In order of best/must try: Drink: Bloody Mary: homemade tomato juice and the hint of horseradish was perfection. Food: 1) crab Benedict- crab stuffed cakes with perfectly cooked eggs. The hollandaise sauce was delicious. 2) filet + eggs + grits. The perfect amount of grits that were creamy and delicious. The steak was super tender and eggs, again, cooked perfectly. 3) BLTA salad was super refreshing 4) Chicken + waffle -- it was okay. But take the chicken and add it to the salad-- and that was the perfect combo. Dessert: The Mud Pie was the perfect way to end the meal-- though thoroughly stuffed-- it was a top 5 of mud pies! The environment is super clean, service across the board is excellent and perfect Palm Beach vibes.

It quickly became clear why the drinks receive high praise! They were indeed delightful and well crafted. However, my experience with the food left much to be desired. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were topped with a creamy sauce. Unfortunately, the dish did not meet expectations, falling short in flavor and presentation. I would rate them a mere two out of ten. Additionally, we tried the oysters, which were disappointingly bland. Even with various toppings, they lacked the fresh vibrant taste one hopes for when enjoying oysters. Regrettably, both dishes missed the mark for me so I decided not to order more food and go somewhere else. On a positive note, our server was exceptional friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which helped enhance our overall experience. The restaurant's ambiance was mature and inviting and its location is indeed impressive. Despite the high ratings and popularity, I found the food lacking, which makes me hesitant to return. While I appreciate the quality of the drinks and the warmth of the service, the culinary offerings did not live up to the hype considering the basic dishes I ordered. Go for drinks only!

12:30om, 3/18/2026…read more Ambience = Steady, lunch crowd in the bar. Yet not phonetic or chaotic. Good, chill vibe. 4-5 high top tables for two. At the bar- nice personal space and hooks for purses. Nice place to perch my feet and store my obnoxiously long golf umbrella. Perfect atmosphere for a chilly, rain date lunch with spouse. Balance of business professionals, "ladies who lunch", and a few couples. The bar reminds me a of nicer Las Vegas resort hotel bar. One TV showing Golf TV. Food = We've eaten at J.Alex since their soft open moons ago. The dishes are always consistent quality. Today hub's was jonesing for a French dip. I was craving their Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich. We both order their shoestring fries. We're slowly enjoyed each other's company and our lunches. We immensely enjoyed our meals. Service = Good. Our bartender didn't offer his name, and we weren't on our game to ask his name. However, he did a good job. He quickly came over and put down black napkin placemats with napkin rolled utensils and offered water while we skimmed the menu. Beverages were served quick. Food order quick and complete. We never had to ask for extra sides as he brought them all out with the meals- ketchups (If you like an abundant serving, ask when you place your order. They use small 2 oz stainless steel ramekins.), horseradish sauce, a side of blue cheese (to dip my fries in ), and my Nashville hot sauce on the side. Check came quick too. We ask and learned that they do not offer a Happy Hour. However, they offer very large pour martinis with a side car waiting for you for the price of one. He said late afternoons they have very happy and loyal regulars! We've been dining at "J.A." since their soft open many moons ago. They have always offered well trained staff. We've been here as parties of two, parties of up to 8, and as times with infants, to toddlers, to elementary school age peeps to seniors who many need a little extra consideration with seating. J.Alexander's has always offered great service. However, for some with low vision may find the back of the restaurant a little dark. Bathrooms are clean. There is an outside, screened over bar area as well. My extra bullet points: Value = Yes! High quality, consistent food, great staff and fair price for the experience. The BIG question: Will we return? Yes! We are every other month "regulars". During COVID, they were able to pivot their business to keeping their doors up keeping people employed and offered service to the community. HIGH GIVE! We'll be back. Cheers! Tip: Be sure to make reservations especially during holiday weekends, PGA golf classic weekends and "Season" for tables. If they're booked, Bonefill Grill is directly next door as "back up". Get there early for parking as the lot fills up fast for dinner with several restaurants sharing the same lot. Perfectly located between 95 and TPK, for family dinners if coming from PSl or South county or Broward.

I've been here on a multitude of occasions…read more I'm not sure exactly how long they've been open but when I first became aware of the place, which was about a year ago, someone took me for my birthday and I had a great time. The service was excellent, and the food was actually quite good. But it's really the atmosphere that's just so interesting. From an aesthetic standpoint, it's really a very pleasing environment. Sadly, all subsequent visits since the first have gone downhill. So perhaps I just got more than lucky on that first occasion. The sushi in particular has been "fishy". So I stopped ordering it, but on the last try, they actually argued with me before taking it back. No apology mind you. While they were fighting with me, I asked, "why don't you taste it?". Which resulted in a lecture series on how the chef is the owner and how he prepares everything himself. So I logically asked to speak to him because you could smell it from at least a few inches away and it wasn't fresh or at least wasn't good. And of course they let me know that he's not working. So what was that exercise about exactly lol? On my last and final visit, I got stuck in some crazy Florida storm prior to walking in the door. The streets were literally getting flooded. Anyone on the road at that moment knows what I'm talking about. The restaurant had just opened and there was not a person inside nor do I think anyone would enter the restaurant because to get to it, they would have had to walk through the parking lot and by the time they made it to the door, they would be soaking wet (as I was). Meanwhile, I did not want to drive in that flood and so just decided to order food / drinks and wait it out. So without a single person in a restaurant, other than staff, and with sympathetic glances from the hostess and the bartender that I had survived the storm to get into the restaurant relatively dry-ish, and just grateful to be anywhere and not outside, the manager decided to come over and throw me out because I had a graphic on my T-shirt. Ironically, it was my own design, having worked in fashion for years. Of course, he could've made an exception since there was a massive storm outside, and no customers inside, but no, he made me go back out into the rain and now by the time I hit my car, I was completely soaking wet drenched, which also drenched my car. So let me just say a giant FU to that Manager whoever the hell you are dude yeah and you won't be getting my business ever again. I predict this place goes the way of the dodo and not the flamingo. It will take time, but it will happen.
