If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would, it's fantastic! We were greeted like family and after taking our table, they brought us out garlic fries and deep fried mushrooms! The owners are so accommodating and welcoming! Their prime rib is to die for and all of our food came out hot and quick! They checked on us several times and had great table side manner! I complimented how wonderful their homemade ranch was, and they sent me home with some, which was so kind of them. Great place, great people! Would absolutely go here again as the hospitality is like family! Thank you guys for a great date night! :)

Great food with great service. Prime rib was cooked perfectly. All the steaks were cooked perfect as well. Will definitely have to make time for this spot again. Great portions with great sides. Salads were awesome. The balsamic vinaigrette was great!

Exploring Whiskeytown Lake area, ventured off the road to find French Gulch after seeing a bar on yelp that was filled with rifles and vintage items, and a restaurant that served prime rib. After driving through the small town of homes and old buildings, we parked and walked into the building marked Saloon to found out that the bar (with the rifles) across the road closed several years ago, but that this was indeed the restaurant that we had planned on checking out. So glad we did. Unassumingly delicious and nice staff. We ordered chicken wings, fish n chips, NY state with shrimp and their special lobster, and a salad with grilled chicken. Everything was cooked well, wings were a special homemade sauce that was spicy and sweet. Blue cheese dressing is a must. Can't forget to mention the root beer and orange crush floats! While I didn't have a float, my wife and father n law were very happy!! The orange crush was just like a 50/50 bar. Nothing disappointed us. Yes, a little pricey for the area but for Father's Day, no price is too pricey, and really for as delicious as everything was, we'd definitely come back! Business is tough in this little town, don't miss the opportunity to support a small local business with delicious food and interesting old wall decor. Important note it's beer and wine only.

Massive prime rib! This is the large order.

Great small town steakhouse. Excellent prime rib! Huge portions. Everyone in our group had nothing but great things to say about the food and service. I can't wait to go back. Note - Reservations are needed, and if you want the prime rib, you will need to order with your reservation.

Amazing staff, great beer selection, and really cool history here. The bar and mirror are from the 1800s.

What is the brand of the house wine?

Sorry. I do not know. I am a beer man myself, but you can call 'Sandy' there at (530) 359-2045 and ask her. She is one of the owners and very pleasant and helpful. They all are. Great place....

Do they have a corkage fee?

The entrance was a bit tough to recognize. In addition, the sign requesting patrons to wait to be seated was absent personnel. The youngster arrived while on the phone taking a reservation. Further delay as she coordinated seating for the large group (showing up on Wednesday, she shared). She mentioned they were slow and said I could select whatever table I liked. I ordered a savory martini and filet mignon, mashed potatoes and French onion soup. Soup arrived with the martini and the two could not have been more oppositely received. The soup exquisite, the martini...nearly undrinkable. But to be fair, I wasn't expecting an overwhelming bell pepper flavor. Black pepper Absolute Vodka was the description. I detest bell peppers. I tried to choke down as much as I could, then decided to give up halfway through. The soup was sublime. A 1/4 inch slice of brown toast under the melted Swiss cheese, the broth and onions delicious. I requested a 6 ounce pour of the Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon with the steak. It arrived with my meat and potatoes beautifully plated. I'm not sure I wasn't served a sirloin. That filet was the shape of no filet I've ever bought or been served. But it was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were sublime - buttery and flavorful. The wine with less tannins than I anticipated- I really enjoyed that. Service was attentive and both the hostess and my server checked on me. My drive back to Sacramento will be pleasant.
