Stopped in for a solo dinner last night and sat at the bar. The bartender greeted me right away and handed me a menu. There are some televisions to watch the games on and it was a pretty comfortable atmosphere. The menu had a lot of pretty good options and the prices were decent. I ordered the BLTA with regular fries and an iced tea. The iced tea tasted funny, must've been a brand I wasn't used to. It took a while to get the food but it was hot and fresh when it arrived. Some of the best fries I've actually ever had! Crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. The sandwich was skimpy on filling, but tasty. We walked in here on a whim and ended up having the best casual date night ever. We sat at the bar and the bartender was an absolute gem of a human being, she also made absolutely fabulous drinks. Friendly place with a cool atmosphere. The space is actually the old Redding post office. There's a large U-shaped bar with lots of seating, along with high tops and tables. Plenty of TV's to watch the games. They have a good draft beer selection that they rotate often so you can always try something new, along with a full bar. Food has been good. Sometimes you walk into a bar that's new to you and just relax. This was one of those places for me. We sat at the beautiful bar to eat lunch. Our server/bartender Leah was so helpful and answered my (many) questions. Her go to is the tuna sandwich -- I can see why. My husband and I both had the delicious tuna sandwich, which comes on marbled rye (!!) with a side salad. Plenty of good food. And I want to be BFFs with Leah -- such a lovely and welcoming woman. Ok, let me start by saying there was a few events downtown and the Post Office was crowded with stragglers from the events. The bar area was loud but, we came for the comedy show so we knew most would be leaving. We were sat immediately and ordered drinks and appetizers. Came to this place with my 5yr old. Very friendly staff. They got me paper so my child could color. I had crayons but needed paper for him. Bloody Mary was really good. Hamburger was super good and onion rings were amazing!! The place needed a little cleaning and my only issue with the food was the regular fries. They tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the fish they fry. It was not good so thats why I am giving 4 stars. Otherwise the food and drinks are good. We like going there except for Dice nights Which I understand is three nights a week when everybody slams the cups on the bar which is terribly annoying, can't hear the music that we spent money on, because of all the slamming of the dice cups a total turn off. The Post Office is a bit of an institution in Redding. Many people from work have gone there Friday after work for years. My wife called last week on a break from jury duty and asked if I could meet her for lunch at the Post Office and I happily agreed. Our waitress was energetic and engaging, and recommended the onion rings to accompany my BLAT. Our food didn't take too long, which is a plus for those of us who have limited time at lunch. BUT. The bread was over-toasted and cut the heck out of the top of my mouth. And there were 2-3 tomato ends on the sandwich. Not one (1) slice of tomato. In case anyone back in that kitchen has ever pontificated on the glory of a BLT or BLAT, they could have relished the idea of tomatoes, bacon and mayo perfectly combined for epicurean bliss. But no, none of this happened, and I paid about $17 for a really, really bad sandwich. The waitress should have seen the shoddy work when she picked it up and refused to serve it. Go ahead Post Office, shave your food costs by serving tomato ends (all on one sandwich here) and see what losing a customer feels like. But the onion rings were good. They were served with enough ranch (1/2 ounce?) to dip 1/3 of the O Rings. Food cost won't matter if you aren't serving anyone. The second star is for the server, who deserved more. There are plenty of positive reviews here. So clearly you CAN get a good meal. But at $20+ with a soda for lunch, is this where you want to gamble on it? read more

The service here is always good. Fish & chips are consistently great. All of their dipping sauces are amazing. Driving in from Hilltop on 44, mother nature hit me hard. I had to find a place quickly because the meds are kicking in. I couldn't think of any place but I did see the Post Office and I was right there so I parked and rushed in. . Success! No accidents and mother nature was quelled. Since I'm in there I just say well let's try their Bloody Mary. The bartender was quick to make a beautiful, fully gardened. Concoction with plenty of horseradish. It was delicious and a beautiful image as well. Whooohooo so I had to take a photo and here it is. Looking around the place this is why the great place lots of things hang in the wall historic stuff looks like it used to be a post office for real and now it's a beautiful bar I haven't had any their food yet but I plan to in the near future. We went here after the "Kool April Nights" cruise and had a wonderful experience! There was a large group of us, and we didn't have a reservation, but they graciously accommodated us. Our server's name was Anna, she was amazing! Despite a couple of us arriving a little bit later, all of our food showed up around the same time, none of us went without our beverages being refilled. My boyfriend and I are currently doing the keto lifestyle and we ordered their Cobb salads which were absolutely divine.
