Stopped in for a solo dinner last night and sat at the bar. The bartender greeted me right away and handed me a menu. There are some televisions to watch the games on and it was a pretty comfortable atmosphere. The menu had a lot of pretty good options and the prices were decent. I ordered the BLTA with regular fries and an iced tea. The iced tea tasted funny, must've been a brand I wasn't used to. It took a while to get the food but it was hot and fresh when it arrived. Some of the best fries I've actually ever had! Crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle. The sandwich was skimpy on filling, but tasty. No complaints, but also nothing too different than a normal pub. read more

We walked in here on a whim and ended up having the best casual date night ever. We sat at the bar and the bartender was an absolute gem of a human being, she also made absolutely fabulous drinks. There was really nothing she couldn't make and she was very knowledgeable. The appetizers were also flawless and better than your typical bar fair I would say! 10/10 read more

Sometimes you walk into a bar that's new to you and just relax. This was one of those places for me. We sat at the beautiful bar to eat lunch. Our server/bartender Leah was so helpful and answered my (many) questions. Her go to is the tuna sandwich -- I can see why. My husband and I both had the delicious tuna sandwich, which comes on marbled rye (!!) with a side salad. Plenty of good food. And I want to be BFFs with Leah -- such a lovely and welcoming woman. Friendly place with a cool atmosphere. The space is actually the old Redding post office. There's a large U-shaped bar with lots of seating, along with high tops and tables. Plenty of TV's to watch the games. They have a good draft beer selection that they rotate often so you can always try something new, along with a full bar. Food has been good. Standard pub fare prepared well, nothing fancy but that's what you want. Friendly service and extremely clean. Post Office is a solid Redding pub with good food! read more

This is the restaurant we first came to when we moved to Redding We always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food Still like to be there when the bands are playing. It is in the center of downtown located with lots of parking and close to the Cascade Theatre and other menus The prices are fair and the food is good and excellent service read more

This is a great downtown spot for a delicious lunch. The menu is new since about a year plus, but the food is still good. This French dip is one of the best I've had around town. Ok, let me start by saying there was a few events downtown and the Post Office was crowded with stragglers from the events. The bar area was loud but, we came for the comedy show so we knew most would be leaving. We were sat immediately and ordered drinks and appetizers. The bartender was busy but our drinks came fairly quickly. We ordered and our food came out fresh and hot. My wife had Fish & Chips and I had a burger. All was tasty, hot and fresh. No time for food pics, but believe me the plates were full. We will be back, but not for the hmmmm, comedy! Oh wait, the drinks were tasty and well priced. read more

This place is so random. The staff has never been super friendly, their phone number is out of service and not updated anywhere, the food is extremely hit or miss and ridiculously overpriced. Came to this place with my 5yr old. Very friendly staff. They got me paper so my child could color. I had crayons but needed paper for him. Bloody Mary was really good. Hamburger was super good and onion rings were amazing!! The place needed a little cleaning and my only issue with the food was the regular fries. They tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the fish they fry. It was not good so thats why I am giving 4 stars. Otherwise the food and drinks are good. The Post Office is a bit of an institution in Redding. Many people from work have gone there Friday after work for years. My wife called last week on a break from jury duty and asked if I could meet her for lunch at the Post Office and I happily agreed. Our waitress was energetic and engaging, and recommended the onion rings to accompany my BLAT. Our food didn't take too long, which is a plus for those of us who have limited time at lunch. BUT. The bread was over-toasted and cut the heck out of the top of my mouth. And there were 2-3 tomato ends on the sandwich. Not one (1) slice of tomato. In case anyone back in that kitchen has ever pontificated on the glory of a BLT or BLAT, they could have relished the idea of tomatoes, bacon and mayo perfectly combined for epicurean bliss. But no, none of this happened, and I paid about $17 for a really, really bad sandwich. The waitress should have seen the shoddy work when she picked it up and refused to serve it. Go ahead Post Office, shave your food costs by serving tomato ends (all on one sandwich here) and see what losing a customer feels like. But the onion rings were good. They were served with enough ranch (1/2 ounce?) to dip 1/3 of the O Rings. Food cost won't matter if you aren't serving anyone. The second star is for the server, who deserved more. There are plenty of positive reviews here. So clearly you CAN get a good meal. But at $20+ with a soda for lunch, is this where you want to gamble on it? read more

We like going there except for Dice nights Which I understand is three nights a week when everybody slams the cups on the bar which is terribly annoying, can't hear the music that we spent money on, because of all the slamming of the dice cups a total turn off. And nobody seems to care about the other customers read more

The service here is always good. Fish & chips are consistently great. All of their dipping sauces are amazing. I don't like pickles so no 1000 island for me but the Post Office makes really good 1000 island. This will continue to be a regular stop. I just wish they would serve lunch earlier on Saturdays. This is NOT the Post Office of yesteryear. No, the food isn't bad, it's about average+ but the service is nowhere near the level we've experienced for years. Sorry but things have changed and it feels to me that they're just not trying. Two visits in the past 60 days and the same both times with different waitstaff. Perhaps with some more experience (maybe)... I just don't want to be the guinea pig. Seems to be a certain snobbery evident in some staffers. ‍ read more

Driving in from Hilltop on 44, mother nature hit me hard. I had to find a place quickly because the meds are kicking in. I couldn't think of any place but I did see the Post Office and I was right there so I parked and rushed in. . Success! No accidents and mother nature was quelled. Since I'm in there I just say well let's try their Bloody Mary. The bartender was quick to make a beautiful, fully gardened. Concoction with plenty of horseradish. It was delicious and a beautiful image as well. Whooohooo so I had to take a photo and here it is. Looking around the place this is why the great place lots of things hang in the wall historic stuff looks like it used to be a post office for real and now it's a beautiful bar I haven't had any their food yet but I plan to in the near future. Come on out if you need a bloody Mary because it's one of the best I've ever had. read more

We went here after the "Kool April Nights" cruise and had a wonderful experience! There was a large group of us, and we didn't have a reservation, but they graciously accommodated us. Our server's name was Anna, she was amazing! Despite a couple of us arriving a little bit later, all of our food showed up around the same time, none of us went without our beverages being refilled. My boyfriend and I are currently doing the keto lifestyle and we ordered their Cobb salads which were absolutely divine. I highly recommend this place for excellent service and delicious food. read more

I've been coming to The Post Office Saloon since I was 21. Place is an institution. Food is amazing, service is outstanding. You cant go wrong here. If visiting Redding area and want a quality meal, & cocktail or beer, this is the olace locals go. This is where I go. I just left a business meeting at another close by brewery to have lunch here. This is a very interesting place. At first glance it has some history to the building and beautiful wood work. The staff is friendly and efficient. The bartender seems well known and does a great job. We tried the steamed clams and they were delicious. We will definitely go back. read more

Talk about a hidden gem! I stopped into the Post Office Saloon and Grill and left with a full belly and an even fuller heart. Let's start with the prime rib--absolutely phenomenal. We've been eating at the Post Office for years and always had great service and food. Tonight Great food but by far the worst waitress we've ever had there. They were not busy. We were her only customer at a table. The rest were at the bar. She finally gives us our bill but never comes back to pick up the money. We go to the bar to pay. She finally comes out of the back and the bar tender gives it to her and she finally figured out change, which she shorted us. But couldn't Even say thank you. She set the money on the bar and said there and walks off!!!! read more

We had a great experience at The Post Office Saloon & Grill! I had the fish and chips, which were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The two others in our group ordered burgers and said they were excellent as well. A big shoutout to our server, Cari D. She was amazing! Super attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Great service always makes a meal better, and she definitely made our visit a great one. When I first met him, he flirted with me, and I politely rejected his advances. Since then, his behavior toward me has been extremely unprofessional. He has refused to serve me and, at times, even refused to serve the friends I come in with. He will roll his eyes, ignore us, and make it very obvious that he is unhappy to see us. What concerns me even more is that I have heard similar experiences from other women who say that after rejecting his advances, they were treated poorly or refused service as well. No customer should be made to feel uncomfortable or punished for simply declining someone's advances. Bartenders are in a position where professionalism and respect should be expected, regardless of whether a customer is interested in them personally. I'm sharing my experience because I believe women should be aware of this behavior and because it's disappointing to see one employee negatively affect the reputation of a bar that I otherwise enjoyed visiting.
