The entrance was a bit tough to recognize. In addition, the sign requesting patrons to wait to be seated was absent personnel. The youngster arrived while on the phone taking a reservation. Further delay as she coordinated seating for the large group (showing up on Wednesday, she shared). She mentioned they were slow and said I could select whatever table I liked. I ordered a savory martini and filet mignon, mashed potatoes and French onion soup. Soup arrived with the martini and the two could not have been more oppositely received. The soup exquisite, the martini...nearly undrinkable. But to be fair, I wasn't expecting an overwhelming bell pepper flavor. Black pepper Absolute Vodka was the description. I detest bell peppers. I tried to choke down as much as I could, then decided to give up halfway through. The soup was sublime. A 1/4 inch slice of brown toast under the melted Swiss cheese, the broth and onions delicious. I requested a 6 ounce pour of the Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon with the steak. It arrived with my meat and potatoes beautifully plated. I'm not sure I wasn't served a sirloin. That filet was the shape of no filet I've ever bought or been served. But it was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were sublime - buttery and flavorful. The wine with less tannins than I anticipated- I really enjoyed that. Service was attentive and both the hostess and my server checked on me. My drive back to Sacramento will be pleasant.

Visited Casa Rios for the first time this week. I've heard a-lot of good things about this place…read moreand being a bit of a snob when it comes to Mexican food, the places I've visited in Redding have been mediocre at best with Casa Ramos being the "best" in Redding until now. First off, the rice, white queso dip, cream sauce, salsa and bean dip they have, rival a favorite place of mine in LA called Salsa and Beer I ordered basic cheese enchiladas (one with red sauce, one with green sauce). They were FANTASTIC. If you think something as simple as a cheese enchilada can't be gourmet and elevated, I suggest trying anything from Rick Bayless (Chicago or LA) and El Cholo (LA) with their aged cheddar. All that to say, Casa Rios didn't disappoint. My friend got the chili relleno with cream sauce, one word, FANTASTIC. I like that it had a bit of char to it and that it wasn't super eggy. It had a nice crisp to it. For desert (it being my bday week and all lol) was their coconut tres leches cake with strawberries. Another smash out of the park. I will definitely be back. Eager to try their fajitas, birria tacos and flan. Great job. If I'm in town on Tuesday (8/11) I'll have my bday dinner here.

Lots of shrimp and chicken with peppers, onions, rice and pinto beans inside. It was delicious. Complimentary bean dip and salsa with chips. Five stars for flavor but 4 starts for $9 up charge to get both shrimp and chicken, instead of one or the other. Server sent us on our way with ice waters to go!
