The crepe was full of goodies, thick with lots of stuffing, it wasn't skimpy on the items in the crepe, the scrambled eggs were on the side. The moment we walked in the door, we were welcomed with open arms, the hostess who seated us was truly a breath of fresh air. The server that took our orders was an absolute rockstar. We came here because crêpes are my mom's favorite food, and I was thrilled to discover that they have a gluten-free batter, a true game-changer for me. My son ordered a simple crêpe with whipped cream, and strawberries, and every strawberry was shaped like a heart. They brought him color crayons and seated us by the window, where he could look out, the crêpes were nothing short of amazing, just like the service. Delicious crepe spot in downtown Arcata! I have only been to the area a few times but I've dined here twice because it's such a great spot for lunch. This time I ordered one of the specials on the board -- the chicken and the mango savory crepe. My sister also got a special, the savory peach, and both were scrumptious. The ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful and the flavor combos in each crepe were excellent. The wait for the food felt a little long but maybe that's just the nature of the lunch rush. The decor is very colorful and cozy, but it's very limited in terms of seating. I ordered the amber rose crepe without a salad on top. I had come previously and ordered the sweet Sappho which was good, but the crepe was very watery likely from the washed fruit not being dried before plating. I promise there was an Amber Rose on this plate. I devoured it so fast, it was that good. The service was top notch, from greeting their customers as soon as you walk in the door, to walking you to your table in a snap. Amy was phenomenal and the young man making crepe magic in the back was just as good. The first thing we noticed about this place. HOW CLEAN it is. The first thing you notice is the style of decorations this restaurant incorporates. Very eclectic, many different pieces pulled together with such detail as to create a warm exotic space. I already started to anticipate the food offerings. The crepes on the menu continue the theme of pulling together ingredients in a unique way, and the dining results are equal as creative and delicious. We ordered the Amber rose. Brie as the cheese, bacon and apples. So yummy. And they gave such a large portion I couldn't finish it. Maybe because I topped it with their delicious salad. I moved away from Humboldt County 4 years ago and recently returned to take care of some estate business. I got a savory crepe and my friend's daughter got a sweet crepe. They both were wonderful. And, my latte was amazing too. The service is so quick and friendly. We got here reasonably early and soon the restaurant started to fill up even on a weekday, so make sure you get there early. My partner is visiting from New York State, and she loves crêpes. So, I knew that a return visit to Renata's was in the cards. I called ahead of time to ask about handicapped accessibility for her, and they said, oh, yes. We will set up a table for her. We got there, and everybody was friendly and gracious. We were immediately at our table, and we had a place to sit and put her walker as well. We each had the crêpe Normandie. prosciutto, mushrooms, swiss, Rumiano jack, scallions, and garlic, drizzled with crème! Oh, my God, it was delicious. It was rich, and it was garlicky, but not too much. The flavor was absolutely fantastic. We both loved ours. Once again, the coffee was fantastic, and my partner enjoyed her tea.
