    Crawfish etouffee

The ambiance was good. We went on a Saturday evening and there was a live musician there playing on a sax and he was so good. The restaurant is divided in half with really high walls as you enter, so you couldn't really see the live music from the right side of the restaurant where we were sitting. Food: We ordered fried mushrooms and fried pickles for appetizers for the eight of us. The mushrooms were delicious and I would definitely recommend these. The pickles were good, too, but on the salty side. They were sliced thinly and had a great crisp. The ranch dip that accompanied both dishes added a good flavor to it all. For our entrees, we ordered fish strips and chicken strips with fries for the kids, a catfish executioner (fried catfish with red beans and rice and cornbread, creole pasta with garlic toast, the large fried foods platter, crawfish etouffee, and a bowl of gumbo. The clams were on the smaller side, but good. All of the food tasted fresh and was good. The service however, ruined the overall experience. We entered the restaurant, which is divided in two by tall walls. There were tree tables aside from us. While we were there, at least five other tables were sat but no additional staff was assigned to our side. We had to flag down our waiter for drinks (which he did not bring completely out at one time. Kid drinks were delivered after asking twice and finally asking a completely different waiter as he was exiting the kitchen.) Wedge asked for lemons on three separqte occasions, which were never delivered. We had to call our waiter to order our main courses after waiting for him to come after appetizers were delivered. We had to ask for water refills twice before he came and had to do the same to get our bill, for boxes, and then to pay the bill. We did not stay to get our receipt cause who knew how long that would take? A table next to us sat down maybe 10 mins after we did. When we left, they were only ordering. They had an app but didn't even order their main dishes yet. They were very patient to have waited so long for no one to show up. I get being busy and it may have been his first time working but that's not all on him. No one else checked on the tables or to see if he needed help. We were nice each time we had to ask for something, but to have to do so for everything every single time was a bit much.

Good food and service. Price was right. They have a Sunday brunch as well. Will definitely visit again.

It was great!! Service was outstanding, food was great, ambiance was good. I'm definitely going back, when I go back to Houston.

I've enjoyed my food hear and today was excellent. Ordered catfish vermilion and it did not disappoint. Sauce and veggies are so good as well.

Barbi and I love to French
    Fox E.

Barbi and I love to French, we do it all the time. We sometimes French when we come to French Quarter. Okay, we only came twice so far and both times were with family and neither time did we French (or maybe I'm just forgetting). But we do like it. There are some things on the menu that I don't like, and then there's some that are amazing such as the rice with red beans and the spicy sausage. We're lucky that the people we go here with - mostly blood related to Barbi - let us try their food in return for some of ours, so I've tried plenty of things. But I do think that the portions are too small and the prices are a bit high which is the only reason I gave four instead of five stars. Plus I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to enjoying New Orleans food. If this were in New Orleans, I wouldn't give 4. By Houston standards, it's a 4 or 5.

Rice was crunchy and the crab legs were way over cooked and dry. Shrimp was good. Polite waitress.

We received the shrimp & crab relatively fast; perfect texture and flavor. Everything was juicy and easy to peel. Our server forgot our 4lb crawfish order probably because we had been talking flavors etc no biggie it was fixed quickly..... however after our crawfish was rush ordered it came out with dark red shells that were super hard. Generally this is from it being served right after its required boil cook time and NOT soaking for the additional 20-30 minutes needed to soften the shells and soak up the flavor. The crawfish were extremely difficult to peel and many stuck the inside of the shells another indication that it wasn't post soaked. I asked the server to ask the kitchen if our batch had been post soaked or straight from the boiler... he came back letting me know that they told him "well it's the end of the season and that's probably why they're OFF".... this response is utterly insane to me as we eat crawfish several times a week allllllll through the season and 3 places just in last 7 days and they were easy to peel and around the same size as these. It's not the servers fault at all; he offered to bring something else but my husband was already fighting his way through the bag and after the horrible excuse from the kitchen I'm just gonna stop somewhere else on the way home. I'm not ok with wasted food or money as crawfish is a waste when it's stuck in the shells. Please post soak your crawfish as it's such an easy fix. It being June and the end of season IS NO EXCUSE Crab and shrimp 10/10 Crawfish 2/10 Service 9/10

We made a simple request to have them put the seafood on the side so we could get a full container of the liquid gumbo - and add the seafood ourselves as we desired. OTHERWISE they fill the container with so much other stuff than the liquid, we get home with almost zero gumbo liquid ... and this has happened on MULTIPLE occasions!!! ... ... which wouldn't be such an issue ... We get there and asked to have it made the way we originally requested ... and the server goes to the kitchen and brings back a small container of just the gumbo liquid ... That is OUTRAGEOUS and COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! THEY are the ones who could've followed the original instructions - not her - and they have the gall to make her pay for it!!! CITRUS HEAT CRAWFISH (medium heat): Strong kick when dipped in the juice at the bottom of the bag. Good flavor, but doesn't compare to my favorite crawfish flavor (The Mix at Crawfish Cafe). Large to medium-sized crawfish (late May). GARLIC BUTTER MUSSELS (mild heat): Really good! Large to medium-sized mussels. RAW OYSTERS: They were fine. Not bad, not particularly great. The word that came to mind was lackluster. I know they're gulf oysters, but I've had much better gulf oysters. Large to medium-sized. No small ones. Came with 1 small lemon slice and 4 small lime slices. LOBSTER BURGER: Really good! Great flavor! Good, brioche bun! Felt loaded! They didn't skimp on lobster meat. I saw a whole small claw in there! Appreciated the toothpick to keep it all together as much as possible. Would've been pretty messy without it. The FRIES were really good as well! Lightly crispy on the outside, soft inside, and well-seasoned. GUMBO: This was not very good. The rice was fully submerged under the gumbo, not on the side. The rice was also a little hard/undercooked. The meats were bland. The gumbo soup was very thin, like water (I prefer it thicker in consistency). On the bright side, the soup was flavorful.

Getting to the location was quite easy, parking was super easy as well, it is in a small shopping center. As I went inside, I could smell the food, and I knew it was going to be good. I was greeted by a younger guy who handed me the menu, but fortunately, I already knew what I wanted! Which was one of everything! But, I was solo on this day, so I had to have some restraint! I chose to go with the catfish basket, with 2 filets, fries (cajun), a side of mac and cheese, and a side of their specialty sauce that comes with crawfish! I had an appointment I was going to next, and I didn't think about how long it would take, but fortunately, it didn't take long at all. They drop the food to cook after you order, which I love!!! The catfish and fries were piping hot when they came out. Seasoned just perfectly for my taste! I'm glad I went with the two, so that I could take the other one home for later!!! I don't know how they season the fish, but keep doing what you're doing! I got the mac and cheese, it looked super good. It was cheesy and had the cheese pull that we all know and love. It wasn't my most favorite dish, it was missing a little something. BUT!!! When I added the side sauce with the crawfish in it, it became my favorite! Something about that combo just works! I believe it's the sauce they use in one of their pastas, but don't quote me on that! The sauce I used as a dip for everything, fries, mac and catfish. It is worth getting! All in all, loved everything about this place. It reminds me a little of some of the places I used to go to growing up in Memphis. Family vibe, packing lots of flavors, good music going, and just good everything. Will be back to try more of the menu!
