Stop in after a game and we found this location because of Google reviews and it said it was family friendly in my opinion is not family friendly for after 8 o'clock. It was dark and it just seemed like people were barhopping in the area. The food was subpar nothing special that stood out. Came here with my parents on an early Saturday afternoon for a quick lunch. They love a low-key, pub fare kind of place. I've frequented the area but hadn't gotten a chance to try this place! Since it's a bar, it was pretty empty when we walked in, as most sports games hadn't begun at that point. We were promptly greeted by our server. To drink, I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, mom had a Mountain Candy, and dad had a cider. No complaints there! We were really pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered the Corned Beef Sandwich, which came with a side of fries. It's not something I'd typically order and my parents joked that they've never seen me finish a meal so fast. I also added a side of their potato salad because I can never say no to that. It was perfect (think New York Style potato salad from Publix). My dad got the London Broil Pita and thought it was great. Mom got the Cajun Chicken Wrap and had no complaints, either. It's really a no-frills place with better food than you'd expect from a bar. First time at French Quarter (went there on a recommendation from a friendly Charlotte police officer), and very happy with the experience. First off, our server, Owen, was incredibly friendly and helpful. In addition to being an excellent server, Owen provided us our-of-towners with good tips/insights into the Queen City, and it's various neighborhoods and hang-out spots. We felt grateful to have him as our waiter. Secondly, we were there for a very early dinner, so we were able to sit at a table right at the front window looking out onto the street, which made for excellent people-wstching during our meal. Finally, and of course, most importantly, all three of us were extremely satisfied with our meals. I had an excellent Cajun chicken wrap matched with a good, local IPA. And we all loved their seasoned fries - outstanding! Overall, I highly recommend a lunch or dinner at the French Quarter in Charlotte. I know it's quite a different environment when the place is often packed on weekends, but it's probably still worth the trip. read more

Such a cute little pub. Atmosphere was awesome. The service was quick even on a Cowboys V. panthers game day. Our server was pleasant and quick. The food was amazing. We got the chili cheese fries to start and then a bacon cheeseburger for the entree. Both were cooked perfectly and came out quickly. Beer was nice and cold. The only thing was they served the beer in plastic cups which wasn't my favorite but it's likely because it was crazy busy on a game day. Popped in here after a visit to the Mint Museum. "Taverny" feel, leans Greek rather than French. Basic bar, solid menu. We had cocktails; husband had gumbo, I had a chicken souvlaki, and we finished with cheesecake. Everything was fine, gumbo and crispy hot shoestring fries especially good. Cheesecake was nice -- not too sweet. Staff, especially Sarah/Sara, were friendly and seemed happy to serve us. And I will add: This is the second time in a month we've been in an establishment where a man, presumably someone in management, simply will not leave female staff alone and let them do their jobs. At this visit to the French Quarter a man apparently associated with the restaurant sat several feet away yelling conversation, infused with many f-bombs, at the bartending staff and attempting to engage with younger Sarah/Sara. At one point he moved closer to us, at the bar, to offer up a very sexual story that he found hilarious but no one else seemed especially interested in hearing. And he kept interfering with people doing their jobs. It's very offputting, and offensive or not, it keeps workers from doing the job they are trying to do. Setting is fine, drinks and food were good, staff were great, but my memory will always be of this guy sitting at a corner table yelling "f***" at his employees (?) every 10th word. read more

Mmmm... beignets. That's all I have to say. :D Okay, okay, I'll give you more than that. ;) It's a good place for a quick bite, if you're not looking for too much. I honestly only wanted to try the beignets to see how close they were to authentic. Not too far off, honestly! Yes, they're Mickey shaped, but that doesn't detract from the flavor or the way they are made. Pretty close to the real thing! The coffee was fine, too. But, you definitely need to order ahead. There was a pretty slow moving line for on-the-spot orders. We even had a bit of a wait for our mobile order as well. Totally worth the wait, but still, go in armed with knowledge. I can't speak to any of the other offerings, though, but if the beignets are anything to go by, I'd at least be comfortable trying whatever else is on the menu. Given the lack of decent New Orleans restaurants outside of the Gulf region, maybe it's just my longing for some Cajun/Creole cuisine. I was in uptown conducting training in my Charlotte Office when I decided to have lunch at the FQ for the first time in 15 years. There was a modest crowd of mostly patrons on their lunch break. I was sat at a single table where a friendly served helped me choose my meal. At her suggestion I ordered the steak sandwich with fries and a bowl of gumbo. The gumbo came out first was steaming hot and served with oyster crackers. The gumbo had some massive pieces of celery and okra. There was not much meat at all in the bowl. The warm broth did taste good on cold day. The serve told me how tender the steak is on the sandwich and she was spot on! It was cooked med. and seasoned perfectly. The fries were shoestring type with seasoning. The steak sandwich was definitely the star of the show and the fries made for a good supporting cast. The atmosphere, sandwich and the service made this a good reintroduction to the FQ. 4 stars. read more

It was just at the beginning of the weekday lunch hour when we stopped in. The gentleman at the tourist office suggested this place when I asked if there were any historic restaurants nearby, or one's where the locals go. It's at the beginning of the alley way that leads to the Latta Arcade (a 100+ year old building, housing small shops and has a glass ceiling). Although named French Quarter, they offer a variety of cuisines and the Greek food was recommended to us, so we both got the Gyro. It was tasty, the tzatziki was good and the fries crispy. Nothing crazy exciting, but good solid food. The waitress was friendly. She came over shortly after giving us the menus to take our order. They seem to have a regular clientele who know what they want. She stopped in once after we got our food to check in on us, but pretty much left us to our own devices. The tables inside are very close to each other and most tables were occupied during our visit. There are a number of TV's around the interior so you can see one from any seat in the house. They also have tables out on the alleyway and there are lots of people walking by to keep you entertained. It's just across the street from a large park so if you snag that first table you can look at the park too. This is a no frills restaurant with fast paced service. read more

I've been coming here for years for their lunch specials and occasionally for drinks after work as well. They are located in the Brevard Courtyard right across from Romare Bearden Park so if you get a seat by a window you can get a nice little view! The place is small but cozy with a relaxed pub like atmosphere. They offer a different lunch special each day of the week but their most popular by far is their baked chicken special on Thursday. For under $10 you get a fantastic meal! Try to get here early because space fills up on this day. Despite being busy the service is usually still really quick, and they may rush you a bit to open up the table for another customer, but this is understandable as there are a lot of hungry people waiting. I also really like their red beans and rice. Despite their name they only offer a few Cajun dishes but all that I've tried have been great. My department just had a get together here last night before the holidays and it went extremely well! They were accommodating in giving us a large section to eat drink and mingle with plenty of seating and room to stand as well. We went here last Saturday before a concert at the Knight theatre. Nice little bar/restaurant with great atmosphere. I was hoping they would have gumbo, jambalaya or Po' Boy sandwiches on the menu, burnt apparently they only have certain meals on certain days. We decided to split a chicken quesadilla. We also ordered two small Greek salads and a cup of She Crab soup. I thought the soup was good but not anything special. My wife didn't care for the soup at all. We both enjoyed the salads. Crisp lettuce, pepperoni is, Kalamata olives and a large amount of finely shredded feta. The salad dressing was good also. The Chicken quesadilla was good also. Had two glasses of Chardonnay. Both of us had the Monte Cristos as well as one local beverage. It is without exaggeration when I say it was the best Monte Cristo I've ever eaten. Excellent Fare in a Friendly Atmosphere Came down to visit the Latta Arcade/Brevard Court and while we were here, to grab a quick lunch on a beaufiful Saturday. After walking up and down the venue and reviewing a number of tempting menus, we decided on French Quarter. The narrow confines of Brevard Court does remind you somewhat of the narrow streets and alley of the French Quarter but the comparison stops there. Nothing on the menu to suggest anything from Bourbon St. Still a nice Greek/American menu with something for everyone. Walked in and were seated immediately and were given our choice of where to sit. We picked a table by the window overlooking College Street with Romare Bearden Park immediately across the street. Both our host and server were great and efficient along with the young man I assume to be the manager. From the menu I chose the Corned Beef Sandwich with Fries. The sandwich was excellent and one of the best I have had in a long time. The French Quarter Salad is worth the trip itself. Large bowl lined with Pita's with and a mound of lettuce in the center and not just lettuce but a bounty of tomatoes, cucumbers, large fresh Croutons and an incredible amount of Chicken. My wife always complains to salad that are just about all lettuce and maybe one sliver of tomato but not this time. Fun spot to hand out. With construction and Jazz festival at the Park, parking can be a bear but we ended up in the parking garage next door. Three of four blocks from Bank of American Stadium, one block from the BB&T Ball Park and within walking distance of a number of Arts Venues and Museums, this could serve as a good place to grab a bit when you visit downtown. read more

It's been a while since I've been here and I came in for a late lunch today, around 1:45pm. It wasn't crowded so my coworker and I were seated immediately. We both got the Thursday Baked Chicken special that was advertised on their sign outside. Service was incredibly quick and I swear our food came within 10 minutes. It was great because I was starving! Food was delicious and I definitely got hit with food coma afterwards. I had lunch at the French Quarter restaurant in downtown Charlotte, yesterday. I had heard good things about this place but I was surprised to see that it was even better than expected. Having lived in New Orleans in the late 1970's, I can still recall how good Cajun food can be. This place took me back 40 years with quality recipes. For an appetizer, I tried the she-crab soup and it was REALLY good. My entree was the Friday special which included blackened fish with red beans and rice (Cajun style, spicy). I can still remember when chef Paul Prudhomme introduced "blackened seasoning" that he used on many of his entrees in his New Orleans restaurant. The Charlotte, French Quarter version is a wonderful interpretation of that famous seasoning and the blackened fish was delicious. Their red beans and rice were spicy enough that I did NOT go looking for hot sauce. They weren't too spicy but I didn't need hot sauce for lack of flavor. No matter what you order here, get some red beans and rice....and I would recommend the Cajun style. There is craft beer available but I had a glass of white wine which was perfect on a hot day. If you are anywhere near the downtown baseball stadium (where the Knights play), you might want to give the French Quarter a try. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The interior has an eclectic blend of Louisiana signs/prints plus a few items from the Windy City and the Chicago Cubs. read more

Every time I visit here I order the Monte cristo so I may be biased by saying it's the best thing on the menu. My husband loves the gyro and ordered the mad Greek which as he puts was v good. We ordered light beer and hung out for a bit before enjoying the Charlotte Shout festival. This is also usually one of our stops on the St. Patrick's bar crawl and it never disappoints. read more

Apparently this place is a very popular lunch spot in Charlotte, but that is not the impression that I was left with. For starters my soda was flat. Then I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and whatever it was they tried to serve me was a crime. It literally tasted like noodles, chicken, and Chef Boyardee ravioli sauce. It was absolutely disgusting. I was so turned off that I took two bites and pushed it away from me. I didn't even want to try anything else from the menu because it was just THAT BAD. read more

I work uptown a few days a week and have been visiting this place for decades now (whenever I can). I cannot get enough of the greek chicken salad... the dressing is authentic and they do not skimp on the feta. (Thank goodness). The fresh pita is FRESH and comes out delightfully warm and is a real treat. I've not ordered anything else in here - but can see on weekdays there are often specials that folks indulge in (the pasta w/meatballs looks AMAZING). Now that the banks are back to the office, it is getting a bit tough to get a table (at least 15-20 minute wait if you arrive after 12 p.m. so you want to plan accordingly). I love how this place is hanging in there with uptown as the landscape has continuously changed, they've remained a reliable staple for a go-to midday lunch and I certainly appreciate it.
