Tried this place on a Friday during lunch time and there was no wait. We were able to get a high top table and our server immediately took our order. She eas very efficient and friendly. Ordered their avocado and cold grilled salad. Now the salad was big and very tasty. The only thing I did not like were the black beans that were added. They made my salad feel very mushy and since they give a hefty portion of the beans, I feel like it over powered my salad completely. Thats all I kept tasting were the black beans. Pair that with avocado and the salad just became very mushy all around. I could not finish it unfortunately. If they wouldn't out so much of the beans, I feel like it would be 100! Every one else loved their burgers, wrap, fries, fried okra. Wouldn't mind coming back and trying something other than their salads. Very cute and family friendly place. Plenty of seating options with bar options as well. Parking is horrendous though. Small lot in the back, few spaces in the front. Coming in and out the lot itself is a hazard and its right off Providence Rd so you get the picture. This is a good little restaurant and bar combo. They have a good salad with homemade dressing. they have individual variety sliders had a blackened, blueberry blue cheese slider. Server was sweet but the bar tender was extremely rude. Our table had no space on it and my drink was empty so I went to the bar to hand the bar tender my empty glass and got yelled at for putting a cup down on a "clean surface" I put it down at the bar. I ordered take out from here. I was looking for a patty melt and tried theirs, it was just OK. The burger was OK but the sourdough bread was too small. The onions were undercooked and it turned out to be dry. Unfortunately they don't add the thousand island dressing. Came here on a Monday night to watch the hockey game and sat at the bar! The bartender, Forrest, was awesome and he gave my partner and I many recommendations regarding food and drink! He put on the hockey game right at 8pm and there are many TV's so you can watch any/all sports or other shows you may want to watch. Convenient place for lunch and fast go-to orders for take out lunches! I arrived to the restaurant and the parking lot out front was full, but thankfully there were signs for more parking in a lot behind the restaurant. They have a back entrance, but I didn't see it when I parked. Once inside, I walked up to the counter and placed a to-go order at the bar right away. I only waited for 10 minutes before my food was ready I ordered a Pimento cheese grilled cheese with sweet potato fries for myself and an avocado BLT with sweet potato fries for a co-worker. The pimento grilled cheese was made with white cheddar and was very tasty and the sweet potato fries were thick cut and crispy! Overall, it was very homey and local feeling inside with pictures and memorabilia on the walls. The staff were friendly and the food was decently priced. This quintessential little spot in Myers Park has clearly been a staple for many years. There's photos of regulars on the wall, and you can tell it's a family friendly spot, especially after church on a Sunday. My husband and I ventured in for lunch and entered through the back door (parking here is interesting - but there is plenty). We had to weave our way through the restaurant, but there really wasn't a hostess stand, so that was a challenge. We were seated promptly, but service seemed slow throughout the meal - like they might have been short a server. My husband ordered wings and I ordered the Ruben. We also got a side salad and tots. The food was good, but nothing great or stand out. The salad was lettuce with a giant chunk of cucumber and weird pita crumbs (like the bottom of the bag was dumped in). The wings were flavorful, but they stayed in the fryer a little too long, and they didn't have a ton of meat on them. The meal and service were fine, but honeslty, I wasn't blown away by it. It won't steer us away if we are in the neighborhood, but maybe try some different menu items next time we are around. read more

All of the tables were socially distanced, everything was clean and all employees were wearing their masks, really making us feel comfortable to dine in. Our waitress was so helpful in making suggestions and customizing menu items to our tastes. I got the Grilled Chicken & Avocado Sandwich and it was seriously amazing if you love avocado! Crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, tomato & lettuce with a delicious Picabo Sauce. I didn't know what Picabo sauce was before ordering and it really pulled the whole sandwich together. We also got Billy's Club Sandwich with tater tots, it was huge and an all around beautiful sandwich. Love having this great bar right down Providence Rd from my house . They have changed the menu since I was there last and you have lots of great choices. All kinds of sandwiches, wraps, bowls and entrees. We started with the most soft delicious Pretzels with a mustard and queso to did them in. Then we ordered just a small sampling of Blackened Wings which were crisp and perfect ! I ordered a Grilled Cheese with Tomato and Bacon which just the thought makes my mouth water now ! I have gone to Providence Sundries for many years but tonight it was run by slugs. The waitress was just lousy . She paid no attention to us and took her time getting anything done . But my husband wanted another Beer before we left and the waitress never came back . So he asked to bartender and he told him if he wanted another beer that he would have to wait for our waitress to come back to get that as he was not able to serve him a beer and tell his coworker waitress to add it to our bill. At that point we just decided to leave. Wow what Covid has done to places like this . If I was the owner I would fire both of them and find new responsible staff or just close the place... very disappointing .. This famous local haunt has clung to the edge of Providence Road since 1933 and served up some of Charlotte's best burgers ever since. Amazingly though, until my recent lunch there, I never tasted one. I'd say it was worth the wait, almost. I just went with the standard cheeseburger with cheddar. Although it doesn't say on the menu, what is listed as a cheeseburger is actually a double cheeseburger, as they all are. The ground beef was lean and tasty and the patties were completely encased in melted cheese. The accompanying lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh and crisp; however, I must say that the lackluster bun disappointed me. It was cold, untoasted and seemed an afterthought to an otherwise excellent burger. As I have said before, the bun can either make a break a burger; in this case, it didn't break it but it certainly was a detraction. The fries appeared to be freshly cut in house but were a bit soggy. The combo ran $9.99 and overall was good. Service was also friendly and attentive. The atmosphere what's nostalgic and quaint. The booths appeared to be original however were a bit uncomfortable. The entire restaurant was clean and had a high sanitary rating. Overall it definitely warrants a return visit read more

First timer here. Burger was pretty good. The waitress Ally was in a crappy mood from the minute I walked in. Tables were all dirty as they probably were busy I'm sure. A lot of their customers are older, as the table next to me were. The older gentleman asked her for a menu and she said to use the QR code; however, a lot of older people still prefer paper menus. I have been going to Providence Road Sundries for over 20 years, ever since I moved to Charlotte. Throughout the years I have been on many different occasions, for snacks and/or drinks at the bar only. Food is pretty good, nothing outstanding, but good for bar food. Service at tables is definitely better than bar service. Not saying bar service is that bad, but they do favor their regulars. Overall, Providence Road Sundries is a great spot to meet up with friends, especially local ones, to enjoy a quick bar bite and a good drink. read more

We sat in the bar area the wife ordered Salmon Salad Blackened and I ordered the 60's burger. The burger was actually darn good, and the wifes salad came out but the salmon was not blackened. She said they young lady repeated it back to me so I blame the kitchen. I agree with that to a point, they do not write down the order so when the meal is complete they have no way of verifying the order, except by memory. Which apparently in this case failed whether it was the kitchen that hosed up the order order the server who did not write the order down, really does not matter it came out wrong. The wife would not send it back and said it was good. So all in all the food is good but apparently they have no way to verify what they are bringing out is correct. We have been here before and will be back again. This is a great place I am sure for sporting events and if you have kids this place is a plus. After giving this restaurant multiple chances to get it right in the last year, we may be done with them. We are long time weekly customers-in person and take out-and in the last year something has been wrong with EVERY order. We have had missing items, wrong items, poorly cooked items. Sorry guys you are in a cruising mode and we are upset now. the last time a few weekends ago with a missing item we called after getting take out (we live a ways a way and not convenient to go back to correct it). the person apologized and said we wld be credit on our card. 3 weeks later and still no credit on our card. Food is too expensive to have us continue to accept this service. we always eat local but are taking you out of our rotation. if you can get it together let us know. Finally a bar that has obviously been around a long time. Late 30's, early 40's crowd. Slow going even on a Saturday at 6pm. Not a great burger but not bad either. A little over-cooked, but solid. Hot french fries. I'll be sure to visit again and try other items on the menu mainly because of the full bar. They have a respectable selection of draft beers, scotches and vodkas. There's billiards and video games but nobody's paying attention to that. It's hard to categorize because it's mellow enough to have a conversation even with the juke box playing and plenty of people watching games on multiple TVs. It doesn't feel like a sports bar. That said, this weekend I was around the corner and decided today was the day. I'm glad I did. When we arrived we were told by a nice man that we should seat ourselves. I had a coupon for Providence Road Sundries, so we decided to give it a try. We were looking for someplace casual, but I was worried I might be a bit underdressed in jeans and a sweatshirt being that Providence Road Sundries is smack-dab in the middle of 1/2 million dollar homes. Our server was also the bartender and she greeted us at our table from behind the bar (we went on a slow night). The booths are highbacked (nice for some privacy) and made from an old wood. The tables elsewhere were tables my grandparents had in the 70s, with the rounded seats reminding me of wagonwheels. The restaurant had the feel of a place I might have really enjoyed during my college years -- hang out with friends, get cheap beer, and eat greasy food. As an adult, though, it really didn't feel like my scene. Don't get me wrong. I'm all about greasy food sometimes. In fact, we both tried the burgers, but they were average. As were the french fries that accompanied them. I guess that was fitting for the setting. If I lived in the area, I might walk over to Providence Road Sundries for a drink or dinner, but... I called this evening as I was driving in to Charlotte and asked for a "take out" order. I was told by the person (male) answering the phone...."We are not doing take out, we are too busy..". What?
