I've eaten at Fresco at least 3 times that I recall and they were all for either private parties or banquet-style events. In each case, the food and service was excellent. If you attend a banquet here, just expect LOTS of food. Even when you think you've eaten everything you can, they will still bring more food. And all of it is good! I love the pastas here, especially the farfalle wish mushrooms. I love the ceviche we tried recently as well as a passed hors d'oeuvres (not sure if it's on the regular menu or not). The banquets I've attended here have been Armenian ones (the owners are Armenian), and so the food has walked a line between Italian and Armenian dishes. I appreciated and enjoyed everything I was served. Honestly, even if I hadn't been here for group events, weddings, etc, I would happily return for the food. I know that most of their business does come from banquets, and the space is perfect for it, but I would definitely enjoy coming here on any given evening for a nice Italian meal. I hope you'll consider it in the future!

We celebrated my son's first birthday here earlier this month and everything was amazing. Fresco Ristorante is truly my go to place when my family is hosting an event. Their service and food is like no other!! The renovations they recently had done are spectacular - the place looks so great! Thankful that every event I've held here has been filled with so much fun and happiness!

Fresco has been a landmark restaurant on south Brand for many years. I have been here many times though not for 10 years until last week. Fresco is of another time in many ways: traditional in many ways. Yet since i am of another time and used to traditional ways i love it here. In the 70's this space was Mauro's and it was THE place to go for primo, upscale Italian food and exceptional service. Mauro's was owned by Mauro Vicente and he moved to the Oviatt building in DTLA in the 80's. If memory serves, this space was left to his partner and carried on under the Fresco name under which it operates today. I have not darkened these doors for 10 years and since a friend from NYC was visiting i thought it was the perfect time to check Fresco out anew. Reading the current reviews i note that the current owners have adapted to the times in Glendale and the ever increasing population of Armenians that have moved here. Smart move as far as i am concerned. If you want to stay in business you move forward but always with a glance backward at what made you famous. So we had a few current lunch menu items: Caprese Tower Mozzarella di Buffalo, Vine ripened tomato, basil. Ceasar Salad Costoletto Griliata di Porco Herb crusted organic pork chop charbroiled with grilled vegetable salsa. The Caprese was beautifully presented: all the components are fresh, tomatoes sweet and ripe, basil so fresh it seems to have been picked seconds before serving. Olive oil is fruity and lusciously nutty. The buffalo mozz is maybe cut too thick though it is milky and cheesey: very much unlike other mozzerellas. Caesar. A great Caesar salad is all about two things: the freshness and chill of the romaine and the dressing. The romaine was crisp and fresh but the dressing was a little two strong on the fish side though there are also high notes of lemon and parmesan and good olive oil as well. The real winner was the grilled pork chop which was cooked to perfection as it is not always easy to do with a basically fat less piece of meat. The veggie salsa is delicious. A winner. Good Stuff! As has always been for years: the service here is beyond reproach. The physical plant beautifully cared for. We had an amazing lunch: great food and great service. It makes my heart feel good that this old world style restaurant has survived with class with its basic great standards intact. Bravo!

    Meat plate. It was good.

This place is horrible. Food is nasty and prices way too high. Many better choices in Glendale than here. The staff is rude and careless.

I enjoyed my salad and my friend's pasta looked delicious. I was able to customize my salad a bit by asking for more chickpeas instead of salami. Surprisingly, I had to take some of the salad home because I wasn't able to finish it like I originally thought. They have complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar as well. Slightly pricier than what I was expecting but I enjoyed my experience and the food here so I didn't mind paying what we did. I was reading this page and saw mixed reviews, so I decided to try it with my son and make my own determination. They have no parking but thankfully we found a spot on the side street. The restaurant is located on the ground level of an apartment building. They also have outdoor seating, but we sat inside. One restroom each for men/women (and super clean). We walked in and got a pleasant greeting from Mia. She was HANDS DOWN the best part of this experience and provided stellar customer service. She is so young and has a bright future ahead of her. Mia treated us with genuine kindness and was a pleasure to talk to during our dinner. She made sure we were well taken care of and our orders were to our exact specifications. This restaurant is very lucky to have someone as good as her working there. For our appetizers, we got the Cesar Salad ($17), Parmesan on the side, and Bruschetta ($17). I also asked Mia if they bring complimentary bread to the table and she said they do, upon request. She asked if we wanted olive oil or butter and I chose butter. My son and I both enjoyed the Bruschetta and thought it tasted very good. The bread was nicely toasted and the tomatoes were seasoned well. It was also a good portion, easily shareable between 2-3 people. The salad wasn't our favorite and we've definitely had better at other restaurants. The lettuce didn't taste too fresh and the dressing wasn't really that good. The portion size was good, though. For my entrée, I got the Spicy Rigatoni ($22) but I asked for it to be light on the spice and added shrimp (+$12). It tasted fine, nothing really to write home about. I had to ask Mia to microwave it for a minute because it wasn't hot. My son ordered the Chicken Parmigiana ($23) but asked for the chicken to be grilled instead of breaded. He said he enjoyed his dish and the tomato sauce had a good amount of garlic in it. For dessert, Mia was kind enough to bring out a complimentary Key Lime Cheesecake since she found out my son is celebrating his birthday in a few days. She was seriously impeccable. Honestly, the place is just really drab and boring. There isn't much decor and it feels like a slightly elevated diner that serves beer and wine. It was a Friday night and there was no one in there/no pickup orders. We were there from about 7:30pm-10pm when they closed and only 3 other parties came in. There is no music playing, which makes the atmosphere even more drab and lifeless. Its also super cold in there and I asked Mia to adjust the AC and even after she did, it was still cold. It's not an upbeat type of place at all but the food is decent and Mia's service is the best part. She herself is 10/5 stars, but for my overall experience, I'll stick with 4 stars this time.

She explained that they were short-staffed and had two brand new servers last Sunday and that she was frantically trying to take care of the cooking and the serving as well as greeting newcomers. That explanation makes sense and had we known that, we might have chosen to forego the reservation that day or not been upset. I appreciate her taking the time to get back to us and being so candid and self-effacing. It seems it was a confluence of unfortunate factors that led to us having a sub-par experience at a respected restaurant.

This place holds deep personal significance for me. My parents used to come here, and we visited often with my stepfather when he was alive. I have great family memories tied to this space. Our meal started traditionally with a bread basket served with cold butter. Because I was saving my appetite for a food charity event later that night, I stuck with the antipasto salad, while my mom and sisters enjoyed the chicken parmigiano, chicken piccata, and veal parmigiana. The food quality remains high, and the service was great. We enjoyed quick, polite service from a server who looked after us well.
