Prepared lobster meat tasted like chlorine. No expiration dates on cream-based fish soups. No itemized list of purchases on receipt. I love this place! I found it after getting questionable seafood from other local markets. They always have a good variety of fresh fish (you can taste it in the product) and cook and serve foods, and the staff has always been friendly to me. They also have a pretty extensive butcher counter. I would recommend Fresh Catch anytime. read more

I have ordered both haddock, swordfish and salmon on three different occasions. The fish is not coming from the dock to the case in the same day. Freshness and taste is extremely questionnable. Also management and staff need an "attitude adjustment" if they want to survive in these economic times. I Pre-ordered 10 - 1-1/2 lb cooked lobsters for a party, picked them up in the afternoon they were all wrapped up in foil. Got them to the party to find out they only weighed a little over a lb. each. Our guests commented on how they looked like little "craw-fish". I called them the next day, the manager "insisted" that they were 1-1/2lb lobsters. I have eaten lobster for 40 years and know a 1-1/2 lobster when I see one. I was charged over $16.00 a lb for 10 little chick lobsters that they sell for $5.99. lb. Several months prior to this i purchased 30 1-1/2 lobsters from them and they were the correct size. Fresh Catch pulled a bait and switch, thinking that we would not notice the difference in size of lobsters. BEWARE OF FRESH CATCH IN MA. Never again will I step in that store. read more

First off, I would like to say that me an my wife have driven, flown, & floated all over this world, an hands down the best seafood we've ever eaten in our lives was at Fresh Catch in Mansfield Mass. The staff an the fellow customers were some of the nicest people I've ever had the chance to dine with! An as for the owner, who actually took time out of his busy evening, William "Bill" Sarro, to come to our table an chat it up, that didn't even bother to tell us he was the owner by the way, until he had chatted with us for 20 minutes! Went in unsure what to make for dinner. I bought two 1.5 pound lobsters to cook at home. The meat was delicious. I also bought 6 baked stuffed shrimp. Fresh and loaded with seafood in the stuffing. Lastly I got their ready made corn bread. It was a fantastic meal. Worth every penny for the high quality. read more

I visited this past Saturday and decided it was time to write a review. I decided to have an old fashioned New England Clam boil with guests on Saturday evening. Headed over to Fresh Catch at their new smaller location in the middle of the same Rite Aid Plaza (Wamsutta Drug for Townies). Significantly smaller store and I was surprised at how little seafood they actually had displayed. I was greeted immediately and politely asked what I would like, the store was completely void of customers at this point and after reading some of the other reviews I understand why. I ordered 5 lbs of steamers @$4.99/lb, 2 lbs of Mussels @ $2.99/lb and 2 lbs of haddock filet at $15.99/lb. Product ordered was bagged behind the counter and most of the shellfish was selected and bagged out of my sight, when I got home and started soaking the clams I understood why. STRIKE ONE : I would estimate a good 1/4 of the steamers were broken/dead and therefore unfit for human consumption. There were two steamers that were so large that they would only be suitable for chowder. When I say big I mean I have never seen steamer clams the size of a large apple. (these were not sea clams or quahogs either, they were steamers). STRIKE TWO: Onto to the muscles. The muscles themselves were fine, but included in the bag were not one, not two, not three, but four good sized rocks. Not pebbles, not stones, but ROCKS. I kid you not. I understand mussels attach themselves to rocks and such but I shouldn't be paying for rocks. The haddock itself was fine although when I stopped at Shaws in Triboro Plaza to get the hot dogs, corn, potatoes, etc. I noticed they had haddock on sale for half the price of Fresh Catch and the clams were the same exact price. Shaw's didn't have any mussels that I saw on Saturday. STRIKE THREE: Just as I was approaching the check out counter the young lady at the register, who saw me approaching, left her post and headed to the area behind the counter to chat with another employee. At this point I am still the only person in this store, and she clearly saw me approaching. I stood at the counter waiting to pay as the employees went on and on about their plans for the rest of the weekend, and something about a video on Facebook. When I finally turned and made eye contact with this cashier, she hastily returned to her post. Said not a word to be but did ring up my order. I paid and again no words were exchanged except that I stupidly said "Thank You" as she handed me my receipt. She replied "no problem". Well it really shouldn't be a problem since it's your job sweetheart, and you should have thanked me for spending $63.84 in your establishment, which in turn goes to pay your salary. Game Over - Fresh Catch, North Attleboro - You lost me as a customer. Clearly your head isn't in the ball game. Broken clams, rocks, and overpriced fish coupled with extremely rude staff have ruined what could have been a wonderful experience. I ordered two lobsters steamed (to go) so I wouldn't have to deal with the mess of cooking. When I got there I was charged $4 ($2 each) for cooking the lobster!! I got some convoluted story from the manager when I complained and she said that because they are a restaurant, they charge for cooking(???). I said what if I came in here for a hamburger (they also have a restaurant) would you charge me extra for that?. She had no answer. First of all, if they are going to charge $4 to cook lobster, you should be TOLD THAT WHEN YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER. No refund, no sorry, no credit to make up for it. Really ???? I've never purchased meat here, looks a bit expensive compared to other places I shop for meats (Hilltop Butcher shop) but generally Way Over priced fish! Quality is good on some items if you know your fish and are selective. All and all, Not Half as good as Ocean Fresh Seafood, which went out of business and this place now occupies in the North Attleboro Location. read more

I went to the North Attleboro store yesterday (12/05/14) at around 3:30 in the afternoon. Place was empty on a Friday afternoon. My first visit there in about six months. I bought fish cakes because they did not have scallop cakes, they did not have codfish cakes, DRY, BORING, TASTELESS, like badly flavored cardboard. I would never purchase anything from there again. I purchased 20 pounds of clams and had them shipped. The clams were received cold and they were all spoiled. Fresh Catch blamed FedEx! I bought $200 worth of seafood including lobsters, little necks, and oysters. Brought them home and opened them only to find most of the oysters and little necks were either dead or on the verge of rotting. There were so many dead ones I saved them and brought them back to the store the next day. After speaking with their operations director who insisted the seafood was fresh, even after showing her the blue-green dead oyster, she continued to defend the "long hours" she and her staff put in at the store and never once accepted accountability for serving substandard seafood. She finally offered to give me a refund on the oysters and littlenecks in exchange for removing the negative review on Facebook. After the terrible experience with the rotten seafood and the less than desirable customer service experience I requested a contact through their website. The owner called me that day and from the first words out of his mouth it was clear where the director of operations got her customer service training, or lack thereof, from as he was nothing but belligerent and obnoxious. He became more frustrated each time I challenged their quality and ability to provide customer service and he eventually resorted to using profanity and insults to justify his store's inability to provide quality seafood (at an higher than average price) and proferssional customer service. I've had poor customer service experiences in the past and they have always been rectified once the issue was raised with the leadership of the establishment. Unfortunately, this situation was much different and did not end well with the owner, who clearly lacked any leadership ability, acting like a thug in response to a customer's complaint. This demonstration of his inability to provide customer service and accept accountability is clearly reflected in the rotten seafood he sells in his establishments. Local competitors such as Dave's Market, Wegman's, and even Marketbasket provide better products at lower prices with an appreciation for their customers. Read the reviews on this place and you will see the trend of their substandard products being sold to their "customers" long after they should be. read more
