This place is pretty much just ok to not so good. The only donuts that are decent are the sprinkle or pink cake donuts. Most of the times I've gone there the donuts are dry and borderline stale. Also never get anything with chocolate on it unless you like the strongest sweetest overbearing chocolate flavor in the world as we know it. The Asian man and woman are rude as F. They both act like it's an inconvenience to buy donuts. Oh I'm sorry I'm buying ridiculously overpriced donuts, and lining your pockets with cash. I'll just go elsewhere. Last night I went in as they were just taking out fresh donuts. So instead of giving me fresh donuts I get the ones that were sitting there all day that they were going to throw out in about 20 min anyway? Ok. Also paid with cash because these Asian donut makers are serious when it comes to paying with cash. If you need to use a card in the year 2015 it's def a big f-ing deal. They will get pissed. So I get half a dozen stale as shhh donuts and it's like 7 bucks. Really?? He tells me the price then I give him the cash and he doesn't say thanks or goodbye. Here's a tip: stop being a grumpy rude ass to customers. We will tell our friends, family and all of Yelp of your attitude and mediocre nuts of dough. You will not get business. Thank you!!! Extremely disappointed. The man behind the counter obviously considered me to be an inconvenience. He was rude and disrespectful, right from the beginning. It was my first time there...and.likely my last. Also, I asked for a cup of water, and was told a bottle of water was a dollar. I asked again...he said one dollar again. I'm done...go elsewhere...for.somewhere that cares, is friendly, helpful, and grateful for customers. My next stop is newbury park's own spudnuts. Good donuts a little bit pricey and the owner is very rude and rushy he does not have any patience for his customers you should learn how to treat people better so they would like to return and feel more comfortable. My girlfriend was not treated very well and I think it was un fortunate because we live so close and could be customers in the future multiple times and we eat a lot of donuts. A lot of people have recently rated Stans Donuts nearby (on Moorpark Road in the Whole Foods center) higher than Fresh Donuts, but since 2011 when the owners at Stans have changed and they've gone way downhill since, I'd say Fresh Donuts are now the best on this side of town, in my opinion. Although we only go for donuts maybe once every 3 months now (as we grow older, we seem to eat less sugar & junk food) my family has been going to Fresh Donuts since we bought our house nearby in 1985. They've always had consistent quality and good prices. I've never had any problems using my debit card to pay (if/when I buy a dozen or more - something we used to do a lot for parties or meetings). Our personal favorites are the glazed raised (whether vanilla glaze or chocolate), raised twists, and my hubby loves their cinnamon roll donut. My favorite is always their apple fritter. We all love the french cruellers - light & airy. And my daughter loves the sprinkled cake donuts. (we all love the buttermilk glazed too but they can be a lot heavier than the raised donuts, so we eat them in moderation). I've never had anyone behind the counter be less than efficient or pleasant in a business-like manner. I'm not there to make friends.... just to buy donuts. No one has been outright rude to me, and I'm not the kind of person to stand around & waste time either - I always know exactly what I came in for, so things move pretty quick, which I like. I've also tried a few other donut shops nearby... besides Stans on Moorpark, there's one on Arboles between CVS & Albertsons, but the others never really measure up to the quality of Fresh Donuts. So I think we'll stick with them. read more

Fresh Donuts has been a favorite since childhood. If you're looking for heart and hard work baked into a round treat, then this is the place to go! Their donuts are tasty, the variety is great, and we have known the family that owns and runs the place for a long time, and they are absolutely wonderful, I'm sorry to hear that others have had bad experiences with their staff, but every experience we have had has been great! Truly a community landmark to those of us who went to elementary/middle school/high school in the area, and will always be! I love their ham & cheese croissants - HUGE, great for breakfast or lunch, and of course everything else they have is yummy too! I know it's silly but as a child, I've always loved their crushed ice. I always get a sprite and a glazed donut to eat right away and then some to take home! read more

Pretty typical donut shop with bubble tea. The boba wasn't terrible and the taro slushy was a nice way to spend the 70 degree heat. Pretty small space to navigate if you have more than 5 people the shop but all in all a great little shop. read more

The main lady that's usually there is rude and racist. I saw it with my own eyes. There was a young Asian girl and her friend at front of line, the woman helped her and even gave her a free soda, then there was another woman in front of me who asked and paid for lotto tickets but the worker lady made a mistake on the ticket request then actually yelled at this customer to leave like it was the customers fault, I couldn't believe my eyes. The customer seemed like a nice person, white lady dressed niced. So the customer called the worker lady rude then she left, I left right behind her. The people that own this store should know who works for them. This little Asian woman was really quite nasty! She was completely out of line and owes that customer an apology. But doubt that will ever happen. This donut shop is dirty, but they are local for lotto tickets, however I will be going elsewhere. I was disgusted at the behavior of the staff here, I don't want to share any winnings with them. Terrible experience of human nature, I felt bad for that customer before me. The donuts here are great. This is the only place I've been able to find that has blueberry donuts and they are my absolute favorite. The employees aren't very friendly and the donuts are pretty expensive though. read more

We were starting to come to this donut shop regularly because they have the best tasting raspberry-filled donuts (more sour, less sweet filling, how I like them), but we've reached our limit with the horrible attitude of the lady working there. Most places, even when they're kind of cold to you at first, will start to at least treat you respectfully when they recognize you as a regular customer. Not here, nope. By coming to this shop and buying a donut, you are totally putting them out and disrupting their thoughts of...what? How much they hate Americans? How much they wish the shop would fail so they can just shut it down? This is unfriendliness just short of hostility. Today she gave my husband attitude and then sold him the wrong donut. The donuts are great and reasonably priced but the lady that usually works behind the counter who doesn't speak much English is extremely rude and unfriendly. Donuts are very good. Help is not very friendly, especially at night. Morning people are efficient. Layout is very awkward when several people are in the shop. The owner also has the Vienna Bakery (almost next door). Costs for donuts are not cheap. Management was better when it was a Foster's Donut locations - I miss them. I don't like that they seem to charge a minimum for credit cards or they will charge more. read more

I really want to like this shop because it's so close to my house, but it is mediocre at best. The owner works at one speed whether there are 2 or 20 people in line. There donuts are super blah, and the cream filled donut tasted well...kind of moldy inside. I stopped going after the owner's obviously ill wife was sneezing, blowing nose in the background. Too much of an ick factor for me combined with slow service and a total lack of creativity. read more

Went here based on yelp reviews to get some crullers but man was it disappointing they were not fresh, they tasted like they were a couple of days old. If they were fresh then they just did not taste good. Either way would not recommend. read more
