While our daughter was hanging out with some friends on a Friday night my husband and I decided to for dessert and we ended up at Fresh Legend on Kingsway. Featured here: House Special Double Layered Steam Milk with Mango The House Special came with Taro Balls, Grass Jelly, Fresh Taro and Ice Cream. Despite its name, it really wasn't so special. My husband found it quite bland and the ice cream was the only redeeming part of the dessert. Double Layered Steam Milk with Mango was much better. I had seen someone else post a double layered steam milk dessert from this place earlier in the year and had been curious about it as I'd never had such a dessert. This was very soothing for my tummy especially as it was a bit of a cooler evening. The mango was a perfect way to complement the soft custard like texture of the double layered steam milk.

Taiwanese style dessert place with modern decor, not hole-in-wall or divey. All seated customers must order an item from the menu. So our party of 4 tried assorted dishes (see pix). All were tasty though nothing was exceptional. Prices were roughly $7-$9 per dish CDN. Service was provided by a friendly server/hostess. If you're looking for a nice place to enjoy Chinese style desserts while having a quiet date/ conversation, this is the place. Fresh Legend is more mood than food, which is OK depending on what you're looking for.

The lady who worked that day was very sweet. We were the only customers during the whole time we dined there. There was a big sign there that said they only accept cash or debit. We ordered mango pancake, two dishes with combo items in them like taro balls, red bean, grass jelly, etc. and tofu fa and red beans. All were good but they all tend to taste the same after trying few dessert places. I learned that I don't care for extra toppings like red beans, mango pieces over tofu fa or steamed milk. I prefer the classic traditional dessert which focus on the main dessert.

Been several times to Fresh Legend, a Taiwanese/HK dessert spot, specializing in taro balls and grass jelly. They're a few doors down from Fortune Lamb Dining and Li's China Grill. Always the same lady running the front (with her husband helping in the back). The menu is split into herbal tea, double layered steam milk, grass jelly, taro balls, sago, HK style, fruit pancake, pudding, tofu dessert, special shaved ice and drinks. Note: minimum order of one item per person. Trip #1 - Grass jelly, fresh taro and mix jelly ($8.45) - grass jelly was fantastic; homemade with a slightly herbaceous note. Taro balls came out warm and chewy. Jelly added a touch of sweetness. The only thing we didn't like was that it came on a bed of ice. - Mango sago ($6.75) - a touch frozen but sago was excellent and the mango was a perfect amount of sweetness. - Watermelon grass jelly ($6.75) - had a bite and found it was a bit watery but J said he liked it. Trip #2 - Mango grass jelly ($6.95) - mango sago with the addition of grass jelly. Good. - Tofu dessert with black sesame soup ($7.45) - not sweet as they don't drizzle syrup on the tofu. Black sesame soup was tasty. - Almond soup ($5.95) - thick and piping hot. Trip #3 - Winter melon tea with herbal jelly & taro balls ($4.95) - winter melon had a subtle nutty note. Not too sweet. - Mango grass jelly ($6.95) - better than the last time we ordered it. - Tofu dessert with sweet almond soup ($7.45) - a tasty combination. Debit or cash only. Will continue to come back to FL for their desserts.

Durian sago, mango sago, and a grass jelly, yam, pearls and barley dessert (#2)!

When I really need a durian dessert to hit the spot, I come to Fresh Legend and get their durian sago. It's the perfect amount of durian flavour, balance with little chunks of durian on top and sago. For $7.20 after tax, it's reasonable considering durian is a pricey fruit to import! Tonight we also ordered a mango sago and grass jelly dessert so being able to interchange the flavours was a good palette cleanse but I always came back to my delicious durian sago as my favourite! I feel like it would be a good entry way into exploring the notorious stinky fruit because it's really not bad. In fact, it's delicious and this place DOES IT RIGHT! They also have boardgames to play while you slurp and chomp away if you aren't busy catching up with friends post dinner!

I was craving dessert after dinner and decided upon Fresh Legend based on the Yelp reviews. When we first saw the store front we were a little skeptical but decided to try it out regardless. We ended up getting steamed milk (hot) and mango sago and were pleasantly surprised! It was my first time having steamed milk and I'm definitely coming back here for more! It reminded me of late night dessert cafes in Hong Kong. Was thoroughly impressed with Fresh Legend!

Been here a couple times and have been pretty satisfied with their desserts. It's a pretty large portion for their price. I've tried their tofu pudding with black sesame and last time I added the taro balls to it. The black sesame goes well with the tofu because it adds sweetness to the otherwise plain tofu. The taro balls were soft and chewy. I recommend checking this place out. There's plenty of seating and the service is pretty good.

Really solid dessert place. I loved the ambiance and the dessert here. This is definitely the place to catch up with friends and what not. The boss is super nice and friendly! She seated us right away. We ordered the durian pancake and the house special with taro balls. I loved both of them a lot. The price that you pay for this dessert is insane. It's an absolute steal. All in all, I'd definitely recommend coming here if you have any cravings for Asian desserts.

Affordable, delicious, and comfortable. This is one of my favourite dessert places that I bring all my friends to simply because of how convenient and accommodating this place is. It can get full, but there are always seats available and I always manage to stay here for quite a while catching up with a friend or playing some of their old board games. I've been here multiple times and I recommend any dessert with their mochi balls and their tea (with unlimited water refills). [Items Tried] Lavender Black Tea (5/5) - ~$5 Taste: Their teas are always super fragrant and delicious - especially if you love floral teas like myself! I recommend this one/the rose tea. Portion Size: 2-4 people House Special Grass Jelly (5/5) - $7.95 Taste: The house special came with milky shaved ice, grass jelly, mochi taro balls, vanilla ice cream and fresh taro. It was made simply but it was also delicious. More on the sweeter side. Portion Size: Good size for 2 people. [Value for Money] This no-frills dessert shop is well worth the price (if it were me, I wouldn't share this place with anyone, but it's too good to be kept a secret!)

Cute little dessert shop if you're feeling in the mood for meet fresh but can't afford it. Although not near the quality of meetfresh, the grass jelly desserts here are quite good and cheap for its portion, which is around $7-8 for what you would get at meetfresh. My friends and I come here often to play the Chinese board games offered here.

A very friendly mom and pop dessert place, they mainly serve Taiwanese and Hong Kong style desserts with quality ingredients. I always get the Thai glutinous rice with mango, the rice is very well cooked, it goes so well with mango. Their taro ball dessert series are very tasty too. The owner of the store is super friendly, support local small business.

We were having trouble trying to find one of our old bubble tea haunts out in Burnaby, so we circled over to a nearby dessert house to find that place packed as well. Instead of wasting an entire evening, we looked up nearby dessert houses and Fresh Legend came up as being the closest. It's a small, cozy place with some games reminiscent of my childhood (I saw chinese checkers, and I think I saw chinese chess or a variation of it). Service is pretty efficient, and we didn't have to wait very long to get our order, however, the desserts were pretty disappointing. I had the mango pomelo sago, which was fine taste-wise, but there were chunks of thawed pomelo in it. My husband ordered the mango double layered milk dessert, and the mango was also partially thawed. The serving size was also a bit on the smaller size. We also had the mango pancake, which was ok, although we could tell the mango wasn't fresh. When I went up to pay (cash only!), I asked why everything that was served was still frozen. I was told that it's because fruit doesn't keep for very long, so they freeze it all, which is fine with me, but at least make sure you thaw it before you serve it. Free street parking available out front.

I thought this place is newly opened but then realized it was here since 2014. The place isn't super busy but its probably because Asian desert competition is fierce in this area. When I saw the menu I was surprised they have the double layered skin milk desert. This is not easy to make and its the first time I see it in Vancouver. I had it in HK and really loved it. So I got the mango double layered skin milk. Its a very small bowl for $5.95. Its expensive but due to the complexity in the making process, its worth it. Its very smooth in terms of texture but the taste is a bit off from the HK one (Australian Milk Company) but my mom is guessing this place uses Canadian milk and while the one in HK uses Australian Organic Milk that is why the taste is different. Overall the double layered skin milk is very good. I also got a melon drink. Before ordering I was a bit skeptical and not sure if she is going to give me a can melon drink. Apparently no, I think she makes it in house. That was very tasty as well. We also got the mango and durian pancake to go. That was not bad. except they were a bit cheap on the mango and durian. I would say this place is worth 3.5 stars but because of the double layered skin milk desert they got bumped up to a solid 4 star. Portion is a bit small here. I will come again one day.

Almond soup, hot tofu with red bean, fresh taro and garlic balls, mango platter and hot tofu with sesame.
