Good luck parking! It took a couple of minutes of searching, but I snagged a spot on Park St about 2 blocks away on a Saturday night. The location is quite small, so there may be times you'll have to wait outside. The staff let me sample 3 flavors, which was very kind. they also have pints of flavors available for takeout. I went with a scoop of coconut almond crunch and a scoop of banana pudding in a waffle cone. I'm not sure it was the best combo, it was as if the Oreos in the CAC overwhelmed the more subtle banana pudding. But still, both flavors are great. The waffle cone had a really distinct flavor to it, not a generic cone. I'm not the type to get ice cream out all that much, but this is a fine place to go. read more

As a cream expert, I am vouching for FRESH. As the name states. The ice cream is Fresh and delicious. It's a small place on an up and coming strip in Cary. There are a few seats at a small window inside but plenty of tables to sit at outside. I tried the strawberry shortcake, banana pudding, coconut almond, coffee and Oreo. All were delicious. The sweetness was not overpowering and you can taste the flavors. I settled on a milkshake and it was good as well. No pics but since I know I'll be back, I'll take some then. I know times are tough but it is a bit pricey. My shake was $10. An adult cone was about $8.75. Portions are adequate. Overall it earns the 5 s and I know I'll be returning this summer. read more

While I was out for a walk downtown, I decided to visit Fresh, a popular spot in the heart of downtown Cary. The staff was welcoming and patient with every order. I ordered a scoop of birthday cake and a scoop of banana pudding ice cream in a waffle cone. I enjoyed both flavors, although the color of the birthday cake ice cream was unexpected. The waffle cone was tasty but quite large - I couldn't finish it and didn't need it on the cone. I look forward to trying other flavors in the future. read more

The ice cream was good, but the kids working there know nothing about cleanliness or being sanitary. I took my kid there, and although the boy behind the counter was very nice, he grabbed the cone with his bare hands. I didn't think much about that at first. As we were sitting outside eating our ice cream, he came around and started washing all the Windows with cleaner. He used his bare hands. We purposely looked, and he went back didn't wash his hands and started helping others, once again, touching cones with bare hands, not on wrapper. We didn't want to embarrass him because they were quite busy, so we pulled one of the blonde workers to the side and just politely told her that he was just washing the windows and didn't wash his hands. And she rolled her eyes and said OK. I said, you're being very dismissive about it, and she said, sorry And shrugged her shoulders. The boy behind the counter kept helping people. It would be nice of management could teach them a little bit more about being sanitary and clean. Such a bummer because now we'll be going to Kiloans across the street. I'm glad FRESH provides a local ice cream shop in downtown Cary. I came with my daughter and she ordered the Cookies and Cream while I tried their seasonal Spiced Cookie flavor. My ice cream wasn't bad - I wish it was a little creamier and had more "spice" flavor in it, but overall I can't complain too much. My daughter liked her Cookies and Cream and was excited that the sprinkles came with the kids scoop. The portion size is generous, and although the pricing is on the steeper side, I can understand why. The parking can be a hassle, especially with construction going on in the area. There was plenty of seating outside, and we at our ice cream outside, in spite of it being a bit chilly. Also - I know this can be controversial and every business has the freedom to make choices for themselves, but as a customer who brought a young child with me, I was disappointed that none of the staff were wearing masks while indoors. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in that they are probably screening employees prior to working and making informed decisions regarding COVID, but regardless - the optics of going maskless when you're serving food while we're still in a pandemic isn't great, even if the town isn't requiring it indoors anymore. That's just my personal opinion, and it honestly didn't affect my star rating for them. Just go prepared that the staff doesn't wear masks (or at least didn't wear them when I came on December 8), if that makes a difference to you as a customer. read more

We were visiting Raleigh for the weekend. We met some family for dinner who were also traveling. We had four kids in tow and of course they wanted ice cream. It was a pretty night so we stumbled on FRESH looking on YELP. The parking is not convenient especially in the middle of July, but after driving around for awhile, we finally found a spot. You could smell the cones being made. The shop is very small. It was a bit overwhelming for being first timers The workers were quick but it was a bit rushed. However, the ice cream is was really good. The kids loved the cones. The portions were huge. It was a perfect treat for a summer night! I got the Chapel Hill Toffee ice cream - salty caramel ice cream with crushed toffee bits, which was a March 2021 specialty. My boyfriend got another March flavor, the Nutter Butter, a creamy butter ice cream with pieces of Nutter Butter cookies. He got his in milkshake form. Both were INCREDIBLE! This is a very small store right on the main street in downtown Cary. There is no parking, so plan to park elsewhere and walk. There is also indoor seating, all the seating is outside. We have been to this location and the Apex location and both are always so good. The flavors do change sometimes, but that makes it fun. They always have the standard flavors however. My grandson like the birthday cake one and the cookies and cream one. My daughter likes the chocolate ones...several of them...and I am more of a traditional butter pecan or some kind of praline if they have it. Always busy, but the line moves quickly.
