Stopped in today and it was so nice to grab a sweet treat with the crazy hot temps outside. The cake batter and coconut almond ice cream flavors were both delicious! Very casual atmosphere, friendly service and very bright and well lit inside. Two regular two scoops cups were about $17. Pricey, but an occasional treat!
I visited here around 1:40 PM on a Saturday afternoon with a date. This location is in downtown Apex and I actually found out about it via the visit Apex website as I searched for things to do in the area. The area was pretty busy as the church around the corner was hosting a Halloween event. Luckily, I was able to find a parking spot close by. You have to walk to the back where there's a sign hanging that tells you where the line begins. It wasn't busy at all. We were able to try different ice cream flavors and I tried the midnight brownie and Bojangles bo blueberry jam. I enjoyed both flavors, but ultimately decided to get the latter in a small cup and My date got cookies and cream in a regular cup. To be honest, the small cup was plenty. My date was unable to finish all of his ice cream. You can expect to receive a generous portion. Personally, I think the prices are a little on the expensive side and they do not have many flavors compared to other ice cream shop with similar offerIngs. Nonetheless, the flavor that I chose was unique and it was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and there is sitting both inside the restaurant and outside. Me and my date sat outside on a bench while we enjoyed the nice weather and ate our ice cream. I would return.
Tried the April specialty flavors in a kids size cup. Brookie tasted a lot like Ben and Jerry's brownie batter but creamier. Cookie Monster hit it out of the park!!! Each bite was better than the last. Oreo chunk, then cookie, then MORE Oreo! It was my favorite by far. Topped with sprinkles, Fresh made my tough day a whole lot better. Thanks guys!
My family and I love Fresh Local Ice Cream. At times, can get rather busy but it's definitely worth the wait. They offer samples which is great before committing to a flavor. Their staff is always super friendly and personable. They have some constant flavors but also have a small rotating menu as well. I like that they do source ingredients locally. My kids love their milkshakes and you can take any ice cream flavor and make it a milk shake. It's also wonderful that they allow you to get 2 different flavors in your cup or cone. If you're looking for great ice cream, this is the place.
Bottom line: Fresh Local Ice Cream delivered the goods and on their name to have fresh delicious ice cream in a charming shop atmosphere. Good positive interactive service. Four area locations to serve the NC Triangle area. The Deets: After having dinner within downtown Apex, some of my coworkers and I made our way down to Fresh Local Ice Cream down the street. We heard they had the real-deal on delicious and fresh ice cream (like their name, of course). Upon entering, the shop itself is very charming and presents a bright inviting atmosphere. There are a few table/chair sets available and then a good number of ice cream selections available in their display case to choose. Their website states that they have handmade ice cream that is made fresh each week, highlighting "Local Milk * Free-Range Cows * Free of Artificial Hormones, Antibiotics, and Pesticides" as well. With it being post dinner, I was glad to see that they had a "kid cup" sized entry on their menu, and I went with this one selecting Cookie Dough flavor to enjoy. Service was positive, good, and interactive. That ice cream was delicious and creamy, no notes. They live up to their name of "fresh" and I enjoyed every bit of that kid cup as it was the perfect size for the evening. Others got waffle cones and enjoyed theirs just as much if not more. I am going to remember Fresh Local Ice Cream in the future when needing an ice cream fix, as they have four area locations to get that delicious ice cream out to everyone.

We appreciated their unique and tasty flavors. The birthday cake was the best! Sprinkles and cake crunchies were tough to beat. The brookie was delicious as well, rich chocolate ice cream with brownie and cookie dough pieces. The Carolina crunch was yummy, I will probably get that flavor next time. The staff members were friendly and welcoming. They offered us samples and didn't get cheap with us. My brother-in-law loves samples so he was very happy. He even made another trip later in the week to pick up pints for July 4th weekend. Fresh Local Ice Cream is a must try while in Apex!
Happy Easter 2023 Came here after lunch and services. The whole street was empty but luckily this place was open! We had gone to the one in Cary so we were familiar. The place was not only open but busy! Everyone was getting ice cream. It was great ambiance with kids and adults enjoying the weather and place. I had the mixed berry sorbet and it was delicious. In a cup with sprinkles. They had waffle cones with assorted flavors. We were all happy.
Fresh Local Ice Cream INTRO: Located in downtown apex. Midnight Brownie Crunch and Banana Granola ($3-7 depending on number of scoops and/or cone)- The ice cream was very creamy. The midnight brownie crunch Definity satisfies that chocolate craving. The banana Granola is lighter but doesn't lack in flavor and sweetness. Parking/ Location- There is parking on the side of the street toward the shops along the downtown, but more parking is located on the other sides of building Ambience and Service- Service was a bit slow but worth the few minute wait for the delicious ice cream. The shop is decent sized with plenty of seating and the accessibility to walk through the downtown portion of apex.
Strolling into Fresh seemed like a natural conclusion to a leisurely downtown spring evening. Although the line is pretty lengthy, it moves quickly and you're accompanied by fun, upbeat music while you wait. They do offer sampling prior to purchase if you're on the fence. We each got a little something different and everything was great. The waffle cone was soft and warm, perfectly complimenting the cold delicacy embedded inside. The cashier was nice and - bonus - was a UNC fan. Overall a great parlor and, quite literally, the cherry on top of a chill night.

The staff was friendly and offered tastings to assist my friend and I with choosing a flavor. I choose the Carolina Crunch. It includes pieces of Heath toffee and Butterfinger. It was quite tasty. I recommend visiting this ice cream spot in downtown Apex.
A fresh local home made ice cream shop located in downtown historic Apex, NC. It's a cozy shop with limited seating. I had a scoop of the Sweet Honey Sea Salt in a waffle cone. Delicious! The 21 month old grandson who frequents this ice cream shop often with his mom and dad chose the strawberry which he immediately devoured. They even have a nice selection of "take out" pint sized containers as well as several gluten-free options. The staff was very friendly. Make sure to plan a stop - even if there is a line it is worth the wait!
Such a fun spot in downtown Apex. They have a great variety of ice cream flavors. I personally loved butter pecan, sweet honey sea salt, and the groovy gooey brownie was a total treat. The service is great and they happily let you try flavors before choosing, which makes the experience even better. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, takeout pints, and even dog ice cream. It is not free, but totally worth it because why should only humans enjoy ice cream :) Perfect place to cool off and hang out. Definitely worth a visit! read more

What's not to love? Great selection of flavors and homemade waffle cones! Every flavor our group got was delicious and love the idea of a couple flavors rotating in and out to mix it up a bit. The peanut butter cup ice cream I got was fantastic and the flavor of the month called salted caramel Oreo was a huge hit. Make your way there if you have time and enjoy! read more

Some way and some how, I ended up in Apex. My mind said, "no" but my heart said, "yes" to dessert. I've been a fan of the Raleigh location for a long time now but it's been a long time since I've had it. I decided to stop in tonight (Thursday, November 5th, 2020). I made it in 30 minutes before closing. I was greeted with a warm welcome. I went with a small -- NY Cheesecake and the Brownie. AMAZING! Every bite was a hit. No wonder this place is called, "Fresh"! Makes so much sense! I was also greeted with a "enjoy the rest of your night". I haven't received this kind of customer service in such a long time. Shout out to the two kind young ladies who worked tonight. They will do well in life. Thanks to management as well -- great job! read more

This is a very charming spot and Downtown Apex is the better for it. It's as straightforward as I remember many similar shops to be in Brooklyn - pick a size and choose what goes into it. I ordered a scoop of coffee and one salted caramel. The ice cream is very good and the staff seemed very nice. I love the open windows. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because you have to blow me away to get that. These good folks did everything right, but nothing was truly exceptional. Yet. Okay bye. read more

Get this ice cream! I consider myself an ice cream connoisseur (LOL). For real though, I love ice cream and have it all over the US. I've only been once, but loved this place and will be back. I tasted both the chocolate brownie flavor and the peanut butter cup flavor, and would have devoured either, but went with the brownie. Great choice. As an added bonus, it smelled amazing in here! If you are in or around Apex, make the stop for some dessert! read more

Loved it!! Apex has the BEST ice cream! Walking by Fresh, you have no choice but to turn back because the smell of the fresh waffle cones will draw you in. The service is quick and efficient, but there's always a line! Enjoy! read more

We came to Fresh Local Ice Cream last night and we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was very tasty and the service was wonderful. We asked to try a sample of a few flavors and then made our decisions. My nephew who is very picky chose a coffee shake which he said was really good. I chose the peanut butter cup ice cream with peanut butter sauce on top. The topping was just enough to get some on every spoonful and a little left over to get with a spoon. Mmmmm. My sister chose the brownie ice cream plain and enjoyed hers as well. We will definitely be back when in town. read more

When with the family for the first time and it was amazing! Loved the cheesecake ice cream and I had to add sprinkles! I love them so much. My kids had the cookies and cream and midnight brownie. They both ate every bite. My friend had one of the seasonal flavors that was recommended by the wonderful ladies that worked there. The staff was very helpful and had a great friendly energy. Great new spot for the summer! read more
