The restaurant was sparsely crowded as we were taking a late lunch, so it would be interesting to see how the noise level is on a crowded day. So, on with the food. We ordered the supergreen caesar salad, the powerhouse bowl, and the green detox smoothie. The waiter was attentive enough. It seemed like they do quite a bit of a take-out business, as one waiter was hustling the to-go bags from the back kitchen to the front. Our meals came pretty quickly. Let me just say, you can't go wrong here. Everything was crispy fresh. You may want to ask for more dressing, especially on the powerhouse bowl. No problem; no extra-charge, which was nice. This was my first time visiting the chain and I love it - everything from the decor, vibe, food to service. This was a highly recommended spot by my friend and he swears by the squash tacos. Unfortunately it didn't fit with my current diet plan so I opted for the all star salad which was super filling and delicious. Love their endless healthy options. Being a vegetarian from Montreal, I absolutely loved this place. It's not your typical hippy vegan restaurant but rather clique and trendy. Surprisingly busy for a vegetarian place. They have a great list of tonics, smoothies, fresh juices, some of which are bottled and available to go. Their baby bowls are not so baby, so if you're going to try an appetizer keep that in mind. I tried the power bowl. Each bite was full of flavour and texture which blended together so well. Brown rice with nuts and seeds in a spicy tahini sauce with tofu, avocado and chickpeas topped with some micro greens. I like Fresh on Front as a vegan/vegetarian option. Everything I have tried is fairly tasty and reasonably priced. My only concern is the portion size for take out - I ordered a small salad to-go once, and when I got home I realized it wasn't even enough for a small child. Meanwhile, the regular salad when I ate at the restaurant (different salad but I imagine the sizes would be similar) was a very good size. I don't see how the small should be miniscule in comparison, given that the price difference isn't that large. The BERRY WAFFLES that we got at brunch were very tasty. Short & Sweet: Great place for vegan eats! The long version: I really liked the atmosphere of the place. Clean, high ceilings, space between tables... It was a great location. We ordered the daily soup (carrot), the buffalo wrap and smashed avocado toast. All of them were delicious! I am personally not vegan, so I had some doubts, but everything was great. I especially liked the vegan feta, very flavourful and adds a great salty touch. The grilled garlic and seed flatbread that came with the soup was also really good, but just a touch too salty in this case. What really impressed me was the food's presentation. All of it looked beautiful, which I appreciate. I also got a taste of the Muskoka Mule, which a ginger beer replacement. Pretty good, but a bit too strong for me! Conscientious as ever, the vibe of this location is even more upscale, which adds further versatility to the contemporary and future vegan and vegetarian. It is very encouraging to see how simple, accessible, and tasteful in all ways that cruelty-free dining can be. Ruth Tal certainly empowers us to better envision ourselves in the joys and rewards of what we love and need to do with everyday nourishment. She and Jennifer Houston have even provided various books like Fresh to help us bring that convenience and compassion home. Our meal was delicious as always, and crisp in presentation. Beauuuuutiful interior - the prettiest Fresh I've seen so far! The bar is huge and yes, they do have alcohol. Everything from the color palette to the mood lighting to the cute decorations scattered throughout makes this Fresh perfect for a first date, hanging out with friends, or with family. The menu is the same as everywhere and no difference in taste or quality. I did notice tonight however, the portion sizes for the soup+salad combo has become even smaller... The small size combo comes with a soup that only fills what seems like an espresso cup now :( The charcoal latte was quite interesting. I asked for it without sweetener (you can ask for maple syrup - not on the menu) and found it to taste very... Buttery? I'm disappointed with my most recent experiences with Fresh. The last two experiences (once before COVID and once after) I had with Fresh had me waiting over an hour for food. For the first experience, I sat at the restaurant waiting for an hour for my food and when I flagged down a waiter to check on it for me, it turned out they had forgotten about it and hadn't even started making it. For my most recent experience, I ordered delivery through Fresh's new app and my order arrived late. The delivery person told me that he had to wait at the restaurant for almost an hour because the restaurant workers told him that they gave my food to someone else. This is a shame because I actually like the food at Fresh and I don't typically like vegan food. My go-tos are their Clubhouse Wrap and Quinoa Onion Rings with garlic mayo. I do still recommend this restaurant for vegan/vegetarian options, just maybe not if you're in a rush. read more

Oh. my. god. I have pretty much loved every experience I had at Fresh in the past but the last one has turned me away from Fresh forever. I always loved Fresh for their reasonable prices, decently big portions, and mostly good food! Their bowls are usually disappointing and the more I go, the worst their food seems to get. I loved the tacos but for some reason they get drier and drier every time I order them (it's like they put like no sauce......) but then their wraps are way TOO saucy and fall apart. Anyways, yesterday I went and they had a new menu and I noticed they increased their prices by a couple of dollars, no big deal. I ordered the Beach bowl with a side of tofu steaks in the baby size. They brought out the food and my jaw dropped. Now i've ordered the baby size before, and it was actually quite big!! Like I was pretty full after having it, but not only did the raise their prices this time, but they halved (maybe more than halved) their portions. The baby size was now literally the portion for a newborn and the regular size was what the baby size used to be. I was looking at the constituents of my bowl and what I saw were some damp vegetables and oily rice. I couldn't see my tofu steaks... oh wait... there it was. ONE small triangle shaped piece of tofu. And it tasted like nothing but salt because it must've been marinated in soy sauce. Now if this baby sized bowl was like $8, I would understand the little effort but no.... this bowl was $15.50?? My mind is still boggled at how they could charge that much for basically NOTHING. My boyfriend ordered the tacos and thankfully they did not cut the portion down for those, but he did order a size of dragon fries for $6.00. Now we came a few months ago and got dragon fries as an appetizer for $8.00 and it was SO HUGE, and we were stuffed. So we decided to go with a side this time expecting, you know, a bowl of dragon fries. Nope! We got a basically a TEA CUP of fries, there was maybe 10 fries in there.. How...? Why?... Just for context, I will admit I am a Fresh super fan. I've been to all the locations tons of times and own all of their cookbooks. I was incredibly excited that they open this new very large and super cute restaurant in a great location ! The bar and cocktail menu is a welcome addition. Our waitress forgot about the appetizers and we had to wait longer for them, our main orders took forever (on a Tuesday night when it wasnt that busy) and 5 min before the main courses were served our server let my mom know that the soup she ordered was out of stock and my mom had to order something new when everyone else's food came out 5 min later. My mom got a card for a free smoothie in the end but she should have gotten a gift card for a free meal at that point. All my siblings and I came to fresh that night for a family birthday, we never get to see one another - the food + service fortunately didnt spoil the evening since we love seeing eachother no matter what circumstances, but we definitely wont be back. read more

Food was good! It was my first time experiencing a vegan restaurant and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. I went with a friend who is vegan and usually takes out for lunch. The stew came out luke warm (probably because we waited so long for our food)but had great flavour. The sauce of the dumplings was probably my favourite. However, the service was incredibly slow. We sat down a little after 1PM, ordered about 5 minutes later and did not receive our food until about 1:50-1:55PM. Our server only spoke to us once to say the food would arrive soon but at that mark we still waited about 15 minutes. There was no apology for the wait either and the service is what makes me reluctant to come back. May consider ordering from Ritual for pick up, hopefully that's a better wait time. read more

Stopped into Fresh on a Sunday afternoon around 2PM for a quick lunch. Not a vegan/vegetarian but was interested in healthier option close to the train station and this did the trick! First impression - love the decor! Bright, open & welcoming. Clean & upscale looking. Nice bar area too. When you first walk in there's a place for take out orders & a window of vegan treats for those needing a quick snack. Yum! Ending up getting 2 different tacos and a bowl to split with my boyfriend. The cauliflower tacos & falafel tacos were BOMB. And huge! We were full after them. Ended up still eating the bowl, which was good but not stand out. Can't remember the name. We also tried some smoothies that were yum too. Loved that it's not just fruit purée with juice - we could see the workers putting whole fruit & almond milk and Vega protein in our shakes. Pricier but you can tell the ingredients are quality, which I will always pay more for, especially when traveling and am in need of some better for you options to not weigh you down. Called them to order takeout for my team and I and they hung up THREE times after putting me on hold for a few minutes at a time then had the audacity to say I hung up lol obviously I did not... Arrive to pick up the order about 40 min after the order was made (they told us it would be done in 25 minutes) because my whole team knows it takes forever to get your food there and the order is still not complete. Had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Even ordering through ritual takes forever to get your food... I can sympathize with issues in the kitchen or being understaffed but you should give you customers notice if that is the case or do something about it. Very disappointed. I stopped by around 11:30 hoping to grab a healthy nutritious lunch after having my blood drawn at the nearby clinic. They are supposed to open at 11:30 but for some reason doors were locked. I waited patiently after seeing someone in the kitchen. Finally at 11:55 someone walked out to let me and another patron know they wouldn't be opening till 2. I understand the labor market is tight but if you can't open, let's be respectful of people's time and at a minimum post a note on the door. There isn't a medium size. We ordered: -Onion rings to share - They don't give a complimentary sauce that goes with the dish. Just the burger. -I ordered a bowl - had a lot of veggies in it and 'Tofu steak' which was just slices of tofu seasoned with soya sauce. -I ordered the activated charcoal latte - very flavourful but quite tiny so I had to make sure to sip sip sip. Also they don't serve dessert or give a dessert menu, you have to get up and go to the counter and either choose dessert or take it to go. Overall, I found the restaurant cute and service attentive. First of all, I have to admit I'm a regular bruncher here. I am 98% certain i've developed an unhealthy addiction to their quinoa onion rings and garlic dip. I have tried making their cauliflower tacos at home myself but have never been successful at replicating the freshness and combination of flavors. Most of the dishes on the menus are customizatable and the waiters are super helpful with that and making recommendations. the portions are great for the fresh ingredients and price. I looooveee the drink selection and tonics. The interior decor is literally straight out of magazines and I've contemplated redecorating my dining room after coming here. i'd recommend making reservations online especially on the weekends because there's almost always a line up by noon. Fresh on Front is our favourite restaurant in the city. It is so family friendly and the menu suits everyone (my step mom is vegan). The goddess bowl, beyond meat burger and of course the Buffalo cauliflower are our go to favourites. The carrot cake is to die for as is the cookie ice cream sandwich. Lately all restaurants have been so busy with take out which is of course is the safest. Fresh (and especially the tall server Robbie) has not only taken care of customers dining in or on the patio, they have ensured we are all safe, sanitized and physically distant. Fresh on Front opened a few weeks ago and it was definitely worth the wait! This place is 5 stars on decor alone. They have 3 separate areas: 1 take out, bar/juice bar, dine-in. Everything from the wallpaper, exposed brick, plants and furniture really impressed me! Although they are still going through growing pains such as long wait times, the food still arrives within a reasonable amount of time and the staff is very transparent upfront about the wait to manage your expectations, which I really appreciated. I ordered the banquet burger and my wife ordered the highly popular Buddha bowl. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and serving size you get. One small tip: make sure you ask for their hot sauce!
