I called one shoe repair place but they didn't inspire confidence in their ability to complete the work today or do the job, at all. Next, I called Love-Way and the gentleman who answered the phone responded with enthusiasm and absolute confidence that he could both complete the refresh and get it done as soon as I could bring the shoes to him. I immediately headed over and was greeted by the same enthusiast charm that I experienced on the phone. The shop is small and very cluttered with shoes, materials, machines everywhere! This is truly a workshop! None of that fancy retail decoration. This is where work gets done! He took my shoes and asked when I wanted to pick them up. Since the wedding was in a few hours, I said I could wait, if he could do them now. He replied "I'll get on 'em, like ugly on an ape!" And his partner started working on them immediately. As I waited, other customers kept coming, bringing him more and more shoes to repair, from single pairs to laundry baskets full! Obviously, they are very popular and do good work. Sure enough, he made my shoes look better than new in a very short time and I went on my way, a very satisfied customer! See the pictures for before and after, as words don't suffice.

I went here after reading Yelp! reviews--and it's a 5+ mile drive for me. Went back for my 3rd weekend in a row today-- to drop off a 5th pair of boots for new heels and some have also needed soles and taps. A bunch of my stuff arrived after being in storage/on truck cross-country and heel bottoms and/ or soles fell off 1st time I wore them! Yep, I was told--cold on truck--change in temp will do that. Who knew? Owner has an industrial leather sewing machine that's probably 60 yrs old--my age! Prices are fair,shoes are ready when promised, I like the work and shine and I like the TINY standing-room-only, one-room-in front-of-small house shop. Like the owner and the customers standing cheek-by-Joel with me...and I love the "old-school" r&b playing. This,my friends, is the Real Deal. P.S. when I was there tiday, the woman after me had brought a lovely butter-soft 3/4 length black lambskin leather coat --they were going to shine it up for her--not sure if she was requesting other repairs but both she and I were pleased to hear he could do the work! Getting hard to find/afford good-quality leather boots now--so I find them used--well worth additional $35 to have them resoled/heeled and spruced-up by these gentlemen.

I was directed here by signage on closed-for-renovations Main Street Shoe Repair. And I'm glad I sought it out. The owner is the friendliest around, and his workspace -- in the front rooms of a cozy house -- is packed to the gills with antiquery cobbling wonderment. Rather than have me make two trips, he encouraged me to take a seat as he proceeded to repair my bag handle on-the-spot, chatting with me all the while. It took about five minutes, and cost me five dollars. The loop is a little warped where it connects; but otherwise, it's good as new (or as good as it was before it busted!). I told him I might bring some shoes by, but that I'm embarrassed by their condition, since I beat my shoes up pretty badly. Gayford looked at me and said: "When you go to the hospital, you don't apologize about your condition, do you? It's the surgeon's job to fix you up. And it's my job to fix your shoes." I fell in love then and there.
