I recently used this salon as a member of a small wedding party down in FL. The family was generously paying for the make-up artist/hairstylist that was coming to the house to work on myself, the bride, and the mother of the bride. I was decently happy with the way my hair and make up came out, however I was not happy to hear that the family was charged approximately an extra $400 more than discussed to their credit card the day after the wedding. This extra charge came with no warning, no breakdown of what was being charged, and no up front (and honest) discussion about what exact services constitute an extra charge. The bride was told that clip in extensions were recommended for her hair, so she bought them herself, but was never told clipping them in would be extra up front. Upon calling and trying to get a breakdown of what the extra charges were for, the salon arbitrarily named lashes and clip in hair extension installation (which were our own clip ins bought ourselves) STILL without a formal breakdown. Only one drugstore cluster lash was applied to only my lash end with the make up artists suggestion (phrasing it as though she was doing me a favor) along with a swipe of duo brand drugstore lash glue. While we still have not been provided a formal breakdown of additional charges, which the contract says can be done upon request, I am curious how much that was worth to them. This and clipping in 3 pieces of hair (no formal hair extension installation). An email was sent out before the wedding that said "bring any accessories, veil, hair pieces etc." While there was a contract, I found it to be extremely arbitrary and the business model in general seems to lack transparency as a whole. It is very easy to tell your customer, "by the way to do ____ will be extra" instead of just adding the fees on. I think openness and being courteous to your customers goes a long way & could have prevented some of these issues. I ended up feeling very bad this family was charged so much extra. It also turned what was supposed to be a fun experience of getting our hair and make-up done together into something that was a headache after the bride's wedding day. I believe a credit card must be put down up front, but if possible as a warning, do not give your credit card information to companies like this. When possible, my best advice is to use cash or a check and stick to places that don't store your sensitive information to use later on. If you are using this company, make sure you probe and ask as many questions as you can about pricing and what constitutes an extra charge! read more

It took a ridiculous amount of time to get a partial color and partial foil of my shoulder length hair. 3 hours! It would have been 4 hours with the cut and color. I have been getting my hair colored for years and years...it has never, ever taken that long. Was so frustrated I left with wet hair and no hair cut. I've never been to a hair salon where I was charged an additional $66 to blow dry my hair after having it highlighted. After spending $350 to get highlights I couldn't believe that I was charged that much money to blow dry my hair. Was never told there was an additional fee! I did have a conditioning treatment done and was told that would be an additional fee which I gladly paid for, but to charge me that much money on top of what I already paid doesn't matter how good the job is I would never go back. I am beyond frustrated with the way my hair was handled. i have attempted to get mistakes in color corrected to no avail. My hair was accidentally over-highlighted and then botched to correct and turned very ashy. I went back a 2nd and 3rd time and left without much resolution. I decided not to go back a 4th time. first, let me say that this place is absolutely beautiful, very high-end with great amenities. I felt very comfortable and relaxed during my hair service second, my stylist lupita was great and even though she was young she did a really good job on my color and cut. I love that they did an online consultation with me ahead of time and had me send pictures to make sure they had a good idea of what I was going for, if there was any negative, I would say that they charge a 3.5% fee if you use any type of card whether it be credit or debit and that seems a little bit high. I understand that credit card fees are expensive for businesses, but they shouldn't be passing 100% of that onto the customer, I don't have a checkbook so that's not an option and it's hard to carry around a lot of cash, I will say, though their prices are pretty good , not cheap, but also not extravagant. Tried a manicure and pedicure at this salon for the first time 4 days ago. My gel manicure is already coming off! I have never had a gel manicure last less than three weeks. The pedicure was supposed to be 50 minutes long and both the manicure and pedicure were done in an hour. Room seemed a bit dirty and the equipment was run down. The UV light used on my hands actually felt like it was hot and was burning my fingers, which I've never encountered anywhere else. Today was my second visit to the spa and I have nothing but great things to say. The Fresh Salon and Spa really lives up to its name with its fresh and clean modern look. The staff welcomes you upon arrival and after checking in, they guide you to your service area. I was guided to the back spa where the ladies lounge and locker room is. My esthetician was Deanna for my back facial. This was my second time booking with Deanna and the service was even better than the last time! She made me feel relaxed with conversation in the start and asked about my skin since my last service. After identifying what I was concerned about, she advised me to relax and let go. I would recommend anyone who is new to the spa to try the back facial treatment with Deanna. The service combined massage techniques with clinical product application- leaving your skin soft and muscles less tense. At the end of the service we reviewed some of the products she used on my back. She even recommended a cleanser for my face. (I'm excited to try it!) I just came in today (I'm getting married next month) and I needed to get my hair colored for the first time as I had a few gray hairs I didn't want in my wedding photos. I was very nervous and had so many people tell me not go get it colored as they always go too dark and I'll never get my exact shade (which is a milk/dark chocolate). We had THE BEST experience at Fresh Salon! We saw Shana for our first time there. We are from LA and very picky about who does our hair, and Shana did NOT disappoint, she was incredible! Talented, professional, and kind. She did a mens haircut for my husband and a cut and color for myself, and we couldn't be happier. She is our new go to when we are in the area, and we HIGHLY recommend trying her out. Another benefit of the salon was Lynne O'Keefe, makeup artist. Probably one of the prettiest salons in Sarasota with a unique location. Unfortunately the pricing is getting too high for the services so I don't think I will be returning. Every time I go, the price is higher. And I always ask for the exact same thing. (Partial highlight and cut). Actually, I usually ask for less highlights as I am trying to phase them out, but they still charge me the same. In addition, there's always some sort of $30 treatment fee, or a $20 conditioning treatment or a $25 toner charge or a $30 gloss. This last time I had a $20 bonder fee which when I asked apparently has something to to with coloring... Shouldn't that be included in the color price? The point being, I NEVER once asked for any of these treatments and was NEVER told they were being given. I simply asked for a cut and highlights. Also the charges for those go up a few bucks each time as well. When you get to the counter and ask the girls about the price they always seem very confused. Basically that's your price and pay it or don't come here. So now I am up to $250 for PARTIAL highlights and a cut. Seems expensive every 8 weeks. So no, I don't want to buy any of your products! read more

This place is amazing! I booked my first hair appointment in August with Kathryn and was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. From the moment I walked in through the doors, I was greeted with smiling faces asking me if I wanted a mimosa while I waited for my stylist to be done with her other client. While sipping on my mimosa, one of the ladies at the front desk walked me through the entire facility to show me where all the magic happens. I didn't even mind that my stylist was running a tad behind because the staff was super accommodating and welcoming! They do massages, facials, and nails here as well. I'll be back for some of those services for sure. In regards to my stylist, Kathryn was such a gem! I have been looking for a great stylist ever since moving to Florida a year ago, and can finally say I found her! She's super attentive to my needs and extremely talented - the perfect combination for a great hair experience. I actually read a few reviews online for this salon and stumbled upon her Instagram while researching which stylist I wanted to book with. I recently went to Fresh to see Suzie. I've had a couple strings of poor experiences at various salons throughout Sarasota from Yellow Strawberry and other various salons. A lot of times I would find a great stylist and then they would leave the salon never to be found. I was referred to Suzie because she's a great listener and is completely open and willing to adjust through the process. She has a great balance of creativity and conservatism and she is a down-to-earth person that I instantly clicked with. I love this salon. I followed Brandon from his last disaster of a salon. Fresh is everything the other salon isn't-relaxing, quiet, smell free and spa like. My stylist Brandon and his assistants go out of their way to make you look and feel beautiful. When I hurt my hip, his assistant went out to my car and drove it around to pick me up so I didn't have to walk. My hair was brittle and dry before Brandon and now it's full, natural color and no frizz! Love these stylists-better by a mile than the other four I've been to in Sarasota. I used to be a regular at this salon. I was loyal to one of the stylists (Melissa) for a long time. Then, on my birthday this past December, I went into the salon with a picture of what I wanted to get done. My stylist recommended also highlighting a bang in addition to the highlights that I wanted, and I said it was fine but I had 2 requirements. Number 1, I did not want any blonde (my hair is very dark brown) and I did not want the highlights to be streaky. What I got was just that, blonde highlights that were so streaky. When she did the blow out it looked ok and I had many plans that day, being my birthday, but the next morning as soon as I went to style my hair the way that I would normally do, I realized how bad it was and how so far from the picture it was. I immediately called back, explained to the girl on the phone that I was extremely unhappy and that I wanted the next available appointment to fix it and to get what I actually wanted. Well at first, all seemed ok. I got there, the stylist was willing to fix it for me, I tipped her well and I loved the end result and was (still am) very happy with it. However, it wasn't until later that afternoon that I got a call from the salon saying that I owed them money for the services that I had received. I told them that it was a fix of a bad dye job and that I shouldn't have to pay for something that their stylist messed up. Well, the lady on the phone was nice and we hung up and I thought it was over. Then, the stylist (whom I've been loyal to for a long time) called my personal cell phone and explained to me that she did give me what I wanted the first time (not true) and that I should have to pay for the new service. I explained that I've never had to pay again for a fix job but she was insistent that "she doesn't work for free" (even though she was tipped for her time both times I was in. I explained once again that I shouldn't have to pay for her mistake but she wasn't having it and said again "I don't work for free" and hung up the phone. For someone who works in a customer service industry and relies on loyal customers for her business I was very upset. My sister, mother and I are no longer clients here and we will never be back again. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly. And really, it's sad because she lost 3 clients over maybe $60. read more

And told me bang trims are normally complimentary- This full review never posted! I should have trusted the other negative reviews on here about this salon. I should have trusted my gut. I asked for blonde highlights and came out copper. Exactly what I asked not to have done numerous times. Copper looks orange and orange looks good on no one. My skin color looks awful. I have a baby and getting to the salon is more of a hassle these days. I don't have time to return after spending 3 hours in a chair to begin with to get them redone and highlights fixed. Especially being forced to see the person who did the bad job in the first place. The salon manager never even apologized. Not sure why Florida salons -(this is the sunshine state)- can't figure out blonde highlights. Beyond frustrating. Also some common sense tips: Don't try to push over priced products on me. Don't try to up sell me. And don't be pushy about me making another appointment when again I have a small child and my schedule isn't nailed down 6 weeks out. I purchased "LiBrow" after cut and color. At the time of purchase, I mentioned how I've been trying to grow out my brows. The front desk women quickly turned around and handed me "LiBrow" and mentioned this was the best product and guaranteed the results and they would refund it if I was not happy with the results. She informed me about the product and again stated it was 100% refundable if I was not satisfied. However, when it came to returning the item I was passed from the front office personnel, to the manager and eventually the owner of the salon - not a good sign. I was given the usual "unfortunately "the front desk personnel no longer work there and they can't verify what was said" this, from the office manager. I asked to speak with the manager; again I was blown off and told that "the manager also no longer worked there"; really? LiBrow cost $150.00 and the guarantee was promised and my father was there as a witness! I am dumbfounded at this point and pissed to be honest because I honor my promises and expected the same, especially from a business. I requested to speak with the owner of the salon. She stated she "would not refund my money" again because neither personnel where still working there; again really? What does that have anything to do with the salon's "procedures as the owner put in place and then deny everything? She, of course, stated she was "unaware of the guarantee" and that they no longer carry the item. I wonder why? Is this really a way to run a high-end salon? As owner, she must be making hundreds of thousands of dollars and I just can not believe that she can't honor the pledge at time of purchase and refund a $150.00 refund. Obviously, they do not stand behind their products or promises and use excuses in to get out of guarantees; in doing so; I wouldn't trust anything the store offers and would never refer anyone to the salon. read more
