We came here one other time a longgg time ago for pho and their poke bowl. It was unimpressive and before my Yelp days. Today, we decided to try out the sushi here instead of the pho and poke bowl. The interior of the place is nicely decorated, but I didn't enjoy the dark atmosphere. I wished there was a tad bit more light in the place, but this is their unique ambiance. My SO ordered the thai tea, which came out in a cute mason jar cup. He thought it was good, but there was so much ice that there wasn't much tea for him to sip. We ordered the spicy salmon hand will, salmon skin hand roll, Sushi Combo A which comes with a Rainbow roll (a California roll topped with salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), and four pieces of nigiri (salmon & tuna), and a Super Caterpillar Roll (eel with cucumber). The spicy salmon and salmon skin rolls are both tasty. The spicy salmon one is raw salmon mixed with a spicy sauce while the salmon skill rolls has cooked salmon with skin. Both rolls are wrapped in nori (seaweed) paper with sushi rice and cucumber slices. We like to dip our rolls in wasabi and soy sauce. The spicy salmon roll is $3.50, while the salmon skin roll is $4.99. Prices are decent for these. The Rainbow roll is a roll with crab mix and avocado as its filling, topped with slices of avocado and fish-salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The sushi rice was made well. The tuna and salmon nigiri pieces are pretty fish, but the sushi rice underneath was still warm so the fish was not as cold as it should have been. That was slightly unpleasant, but we do like the size of the fish and the rice. It was decent so we shouldn't be starving for a few hours. We did lik Super Caterpillar roll comes with eel inside and cucumber, topped with avocado and eel sauce drizzled on top. The cooked eel tasted delicious and this was a pretty solid roll. The sushi is extremely tasty. However, I've ordered from them 5 times+ & anytime I arrive to pick up my food, they haven't even started it. The restaurant is completely empty each time too. One time the chefs were just in the back, laughing & watching football or some sport. This doesn't bother me too much since sushi is quick to make & I only have to wait maybe 10 extra minutes. But why tell me to pick up in 15 minutes then? I've given them an extra 10-20 minutes several times before picking up to see if that would help. Every single time I arrive, my order hasn't even started & I'm told "your food is almost ready." Nobody is ever dining in anyways so please just make people's food when they place their pickup order. The food is so tasty but the service could be improved. As long as you have time to spare this place is great. If you're in a rush do NOT place a pickup order. read more

Believe it or not, ive had sub-par ramen at some Pho/Vietnamese specific shops in this city. This place had the flavors and temp just right. We got a boat of sushi to share, and even the flash fried sushi came out perfectly, with the outer shell very thin/delicate and with a lightly crispy texture. Other more popularized Sushi joints in this city make complete monsters out of sushi rolls that require flash frying. What a find! I was making a U-turn in the parking lot when the place caught my eye. It was simple, unadorned and clean with two very polite guys there behind the sushi bar and waiting tables. The waiter said his favorite dish is the marinated beef pho (small bowl, 32 oz, $12.50) I followed his recommendation and am I glad I did! I have eaten on a lot of continents and under a lot of circumstances, but I have to say that the pho itself was one of the most flavorful, interesting broths I have ever tasted. The contents of the soup were simply the meat, noodles and mung bean sprouts (plus the fresh basil, a hunk of lemon and some hot pepper slices to add). It was a stunningly good meal. We tried a bunch of vegetarian items, but were quite disappointed overall. The veggie roll is avocado + cucumber, and tastes the same as the avocado roll. In both rolls the rice was mushier than it should be, detracting from the sushi flavor. The to-go soy sauce packets were terrible, so definitely have your own soy sauce on hand (the ginger was strong as was the wasabi, so no issues there). The vegetable tempura was a big let-down, as the sauce they served it with was vinegary. In decades of sampling tempura at Japanese restaurants, I have never had such a bad tempura sauce as this vinegary one. We also tried the teriyaki tofu stir fry, which was not tasty, and the rice noodle tofu stir fry, which was ok, very mild in flavor-- but neither had many vegetables, mostly chunks of tofu. I placed an order for takeout on a chilly, rainy day after hiking Mount Lemmon with my family. We ordered the Ramen, Pho, and a Sushi platter for my toddler (who has been begging to try sushi for weeks and today was finally the day she got to do so). I was really surprised by everything! Normally the takeout apps can be very wrong with the time guesstimates for readiness with the orders but this place was on point. In 15 minutes, our order was ready - just like the app (qMenu) said it would be. My Pho was hot, soothing, flavorful, and brought a genuine warmth to my core. There was a generous portion of rice noodles, and plenty of cilantro, bean sprouts, and other mix-ins for eatings. The Ramen, stir-fry style (not soup), was cooked well and flavorful. And finally, I was shocked to see my 3 year old actually eat an entire piece of sushi. I knew she wouldn't be a big fan from the get-go, but I was so impressed to see her finish one entire piece - I feel that truly speaks to the skills and flavors of the recipes at this restaurant! A concept like sushi + pho often means lack of focus and not doing either well. That is the case here. We had both: Pho Bo Ne and three different rolls. The pho is fine. It lacks the subtle flavors you get from good pho, with hints of cinnamon and a consistency that only comes from a long process. Instead you get a little all spice and a lot of the green onion, but largely because they add so much. The beef is likely the same thin, well-done slices that are used in their teriyaki beef as opposed to the rare flank and brisket that is so good with pho. The sushi was just bad. They didn't have tuna or salmon on the menu; just spicy versions of each. That usually means they are using sriracha to cover bad fish, and that was the case here as you could still taste how fishy the salmon was under all that salt and chilli. Nothing on the plate was good. Add to that the price: small bowl of pho is $11, rolls run around $11 for specialties and $7 for regular. And they do not give you as much on the sushi as other places in town. Add to that the atmosphere of a tiny shop in a run down strip mall. And it's strange because it is not for lack of competition: there are several Vietnamese and several sushi places around. But maybe no one else is doing the two together and that's the draw? Another birthday in the family and the birthday boy chose Fresh Sushi Pho. I'm considering returning his birthday gift after this choice. What a dismal experience we had. When we first arrived, there were only one or two tables of customers, so I figured it was great timing. The waiter brought us ice water and menus. I guess he assumed we didn't want anything else to drink because he never asked. Yes, we could have asked him for drinks but that's not the point. We all decided fairly quickly what we wanted, so we ordered and then...the wait began. It's not like it took forever to get the first meal put on the table, it's more the fact that food trickled out so we were eating in shifts. We decided to skip the politeness of waiting until everyone's food had arrived and told those with food to start eating. My son received his sushi quickly, followed by his partner getting his pho. My son finished eating before my sushi and tempura arrived. I was almost finished by the time my daughter's curry made an appearance. She was almost finished when I stopped the waiter and asked about my husband's pho. The waiter looked baffled. Since everyone else was finished or almost finished, my husband told the waiter to skip the pho and take it off the bill. The waiter said if it was done, he was still bringing it out but after checking with the kitchen, he realized the order never made it to the kitchen because of some new software glitch. There was no offer of a courtesy discount or anything. All in all, the food was decent but it was also overpriced. Most of us left hungry, especially my poor husband! The food was not good enough to make up for the terrible service and experience. The waiter was harried and standoffish. The only thing he was quick about was bringing the bill, which he brought before my daughter was done eating. It is very good that the ambience is pleasant because if you eat here, you will be seeing it for a VERY long time. Never before in my life have I waited over 15 minutes for a single bowl of miso soup! We only received the miso after reminding them. Then we waited another huge amount of time for a single order of teriyaki chicken and a sushi roll and two pieces of yellowtail sashimi. There were very rare water refills, and again those only came after repeated requests. And please don't think you can have wine or beer because they don't have a license anymore. If you love fresh sushi, then you definitely need this place. Went here with my husband and daughter. The fish was decent. I ordered two rolls- one was fine. I have an allergy, and have had no problems elsewhere. I did clearly communicate this with the server and sushi chef. My second roll came on the same plate as something I am highly allergic to. I was not able to eat it at all. I did let them know and they did remove it from our bill. Our wait time was 40 minutes for food. There were three other tables that already had food when we got there. There were three tables that were dirty. All of those tables were gone when we left, and not one table had been bussed. The server seemed like it was her first day- just confused. She didn't seem to know or understand the menu. The attitude of everyone was very nice and no one was rude or anything like that. Because of my allergy, I just wouldn't go back. The sushi was just horrible. It was more expensive than my favorite sushi spot in town and not even half as good. My Alaskan roll was pathetic. Dude put the stingiest sliver of salmon on top of the roll and then cut it into a square, not even fully draping the roll. He basically gave my roll a high top fade! At 11.50 for the Alaskan roll it was a horrible value, a rip off. My dragon roll was even worse value at 12.50, that's the most I've ever paid for a dragon roll in town and this one was horrible. I've had much better sushi and much better pho elsewhere at much better prices. I feel like everything I ordered shouldn't have been more than 7 dollars each. You definitely don't get what you pay for here. I was so disappointed I didn't even box up my leftover sushi. I just took the L and left it there. I was extremely disappointed. Horrible food at high prices. If they came down significantly on the prices you could make it work but at the prices they're charging, go elsewhere. 3 stars for the very slow customer service! We finally check out this place after driving by many times. The restaurant is a decent size spot offering Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai food. They have a sushi bar and tables, family and group friendly. We went there on a Friday night and they were pretty busy. Almost all the tables were filled with customers and people continue to show up one after another. They only have one waitress and one bust boy, therefore the service was very slow. She couldn't attend to everyone to take orders, bring food, or bring checks. We ordered the combo sushi rolls and pho, and some appetizers. We finished all of our food and was about to leave and take our pho home because it took nearly two hours. We were being very patient because we have no other plans for the night and could see there was only one waitress. However, the chicken pho broth is amazing, tasted fresh, clear, and a bit sweet. The chicken tasted fresh and soft. Oh, their sushi tasted delicious too! This spot definitely offers great good, they just need more people working to attend to all their customers. We will be returning and definitely recommend it, but give yourself a lot of time to wait. read more

We ordered the Vegas Roll (AMAZING), the volcano roll (good) and rainbow roll (AMAZING). My husband and son got the P5 (beef, meatballs) and I got the P9 (seafood) and we were ALL very please with our food. We will definitely return and are all full!! Filling and worth the money. This is definitely a place to go to when you can't decide whether you want sushi or pho...The sushi is actually pretty good especially the monster roll, dragon roll (eel and avocado) and sea roll (eel, crab, avo, topped with salmon)...the Vegas roll is kinda heavy cause it's deep fried and has salmon and cream cheese inside but still good if that's what you're in the mood for. If you can't decide between sushi or pho, you can get both! They have pho+sushi+drink combos. Their pho is pretty standard, a little bit more expensive than most pho restaurants and only has one size. Fresh Sushi Pho definitely has a lot to offer so I'll definitely be back to try their poke bowls or grilled Vietnamese rice/noodle plates. read more
