Honestly I was so excited to try this place because it had great reviews. We came in and realized it was take out only. I was hoping to eat in. I was greeted by a friendly girl and I expressed out-loud that it was take out only in disappointment. Well the chef made it a point to kick me out and say "then go next door" I just looked at my son and said yeah we will. I honestly was willing to take my food home but he was very rude. Once we were ready for dinner, we unveiled the sushi. They all looked beautiful and well rolled. The unfortunate thing happened when we took our first bite, underdone rice. Yeah, nothing worse that undercooked rice. The fish all smelled fishy and that was a bit of a turnoff as well. Really sucked because I really wanted to support them. As you walk in there is a table for ordering to go orders only, and they only allow one person at a time inside. So you may as well call in your order and pick it up since there's nowhere to sit inside for now. I ordered Tuna Tataki Sashimi and was told that I could wait in my car and they'd bring it out to me, which was fine with me. The sashimi was delicious for a very good price. For what it is, this place ain't bad. I ordered a lunch special and an extra roll and the cashier ran the order out to my car when it was complete, which took about 12 minutes. Woah! They have HUGE portions! Their generosity doesn't stop with portion size either; The miso soup was gifted to us as a bonus. I wouldn't of ordered it, and likely won't when I return because it was tooo salty for my taste, and it had no tofu, but it did have generous portions of seaweed. Since it's so avocado-stuffed, I recommend getting a sauce to drizzle on top. The veggie roll was also good (cucumber, avocado, oshinko, carrot). There is not much sushi on the East side of Tucson and I will say, this one if you are nearby, is actually really good. You can eat at the restaurant, but they say they are "To Go" for a reason. Seating is really limited; you cannot get any large parties to fit into that small space, but they have everything set up pretty close to perfectly to enjoy it at home with a really nice movie. Service is decent... they have one sushi chef and one waitress/cashier there. Considering the size you do not need more. They do not have the most inventive, or creative rolls... but they do very good on the classics you expect. When it comes to the price, it is average for Tucson. Very much what I expect to walk out with when I am getting sushi for three adults who LOVE sushi. I will say, this one is debatable for numerous people, they give you large slices of fish when you order nigiri. I personally love the amount of fish for the price, but for a flavor balance, the slices are a little too big. The rice, a standard rice, cannot hold together really well in comparison to the weight; thus makes it to when you get soy sauce, there isn't really enough to blend the entire bite together. It also makes it a little more difficult to control everything with chopsticks (another debatable part is that it is perfect for picking up with your hands). Again, this is strictly from a balance perspective. If you are a bigger fan of sashimi this is perfect for you. The only other point I will make is that I wish that they would send you home with more miso soup. They send you with just about a bowl's worth; which is fine if you are by yourself, but when you are obviously getting sushi for more than one person, it would be nice if they asked how many people are eating. Again, if you want to enjoy sushi without having to deal with eating it in a restaurant... THIS PLACE IS PERFECT!!!! It is a good sushi, a good price, and close to the perfect setup for a night in. A friend brought me some rolls last week and I've been back here twice since. Their miso soup is so flavorful and a perfect start to a meal. I've had 8 different types of rolls and two of their salads. Seaweed salad had a great texture and the dressing was perfectly balanced. I tried the crab salad as well and it was equally impressive. My son had the tiger roll today and he scarfed it right down and then started helping me with my roll. The Passion roll is probably my favorite though I really liked all but one that I have tried. Wasn't a fan of the crispy salmon skin roll- but then again, I don't care much for cooked salmon anyway. The restaurant itself was clean and the young lady working was friendly and knowledgeable. Their prices are reasonable and they have a huge selection of rolls. I've only been in at lunch time but they had quite a few specials going on. This place is tucked away on the side of a 3-shop strip mall. You might just miss it and that would be a shame. This place is under entirely new management now. It's almost an entirely new restaurant. Same looks but a different team behind the counter. No more premade sushi! It didn't bother me before but I know it was a point of concern for others. The quality of the sushi has skyrocketed. This is a comparable sushi to Sachiko and other sit down sushi places now. Very good eel, shrimp and crab. Got the Dragon Roll and it was very good, eel sauce was very sweet and rich but was on the side which was a nice touch. Very friendly service though I'll miss chatting about Overwatch with the young man who was always there. Decor has improved with cute beckoning cat curtains, edamame and miso are both included with orders now and the miso is very good. I'd say on par with homemade, tastes more like fresh dashi than granules. If you loved the place before try the new non-fast-food sushi which is still comparably priced if not cheaper... $6.95 for a shrimp tempura roll compared to $7.95 or $8.95 before. $3.95 for cali roll instead of $4.25 previously. It won't be as fast unless you call your order in first, but it's a higher level of sushi for sure. Prices are all subject to change of course but that's what I paid at time of writing! If you avoided the place before or were turned off by premade sushi check it out now! Like I said it's almost a different restaurant!
