    Shrimp tempura roll
    Diana D.

I ordered the baked California roll and the shrimp tempura roll from Sushi To Go. I didn't open the package until I got home. My order came with a small cup of miso soup and that was a bonus! The portions seem smaller than what any photo depicted but the flavor of these rolls were fantastic!

They only accept to go (no dine-in), just like the brand The food is good, the service is also good. Bit long in preparation, but it means they prepare by order. Affordable price. Thanks

I really really really don't like doing these but we are in such a desperate search for good sushi. I know, I know, we live in the desert, I'm not in Japan but still, we used to have some pretty decent sushi here and I have yet to find it. This place came recommended by friends, we decided to stop by on our way home from work on a Friday afternoon and take it home to enjoy. We ordered five rolls and the spicy lobster roll. Once we were ready for dinner, we unveiled the sushi. They all looked beautiful and well rolled. The unfortunate thing happened when we took our first bite, underdone rice. Yeah, nothing worse that undercooked rice. The fish all smelled fishy and that was a bit of a turnoff as well. Really sucked because I really wanted to support them. They are really nice, they gave us feee miso soup that was delicious! Perhaps go and try for yourself. Hopefully better luck!

As you walk in there is a table for ordering to go orders only, and they only allow one person at a time inside. So you may as well call in your order and pick it up since there's nowhere to sit inside for now. I ordered Tuna Tataki Sashimi and was told that I could wait in my car and they'd bring it out to me, which was fine with me. The sashimi was delicious for a very good price. After a long day it was nice to not have to cook. I think I will come here more often, it's quite good. I've posted some menus, stop by and give this place a try.

    $12 lunch special

For what it is, this place ain't bad. I ordered a lunch special and an extra roll and the cashier ran the order out to my car when it was complete, which took about 12 minutes. The rolls are tasty and simple and extremely good value. I will say, it tasted a little overly on the fishy side so I couldn't finish all of my food, but I would go again and order less food. Appreciated the complimentary miso soup!

Everything we tried was so good! Staff was super friendly too. We ordered a miso soup, seaweed salad, Alaskan roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy yellowtail and the yellowtail roll. Sorry about the pics but we were hungry! Btw it is to go only.

Woah! They have HUGE portions! Their generosity doesn't stop with portion size either; The miso soup was gifted to us as a bonus. I wouldn't of ordered it, and likely won't when I return because it was tooo salty for my taste, and it had no tofu, but it did have generous portions of seaweed. I will order the Tuna Nigiri over the Tuna Roll next time, the nigiri is such a GOOD VALUE! Look at the sizes of those fillets of fish!! I should of doubled my order of yellow tail, it was SO GOOD! The real crab in the dragon roll was outstanding! Honestly worth every penny, & next time I'll ask to get the California roll with the real crab instead of imitation crab. The wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce they included was also spot on. Can't wait to go next time, and hopefully they will soon open up to dine in. Right now it's just TOGO because COVID. P.S. ORDER THE CRUNCH ROLL. Nom. Nom. Nom.

Beautiful set up for take out sushi.

There is not much sushi on the East side of Tucson and I will say, this one if you are nearby, is actually really good. You can eat at the restaurant, but they say they are "To Go" for a reason. Seating is really limited; you cannot get any large parties to fit into that small space, but they have everything set up pretty close to perfectly to enjoy it at home with a really nice movie. Service is decent... they have one sushi chef and one waitress/cashier there. Considering the size you do not need more. They do not have the most inventive, or creative rolls... but they do very good on the classics you expect. When it comes to the price, it is average for Tucson. Very much what I expect to walk out with when I am getting sushi for three adults who LOVE sushi. I will say, this one is debatable for numerous people, they give you large slices of fish when you order nigiri. I personally love the amount of fish for the price, but for a flavor balance, the slices are a little too big. The rice, a standard rice, cannot hold together really well in comparison to the weight; thus makes it to when you get soy sauce, there isn't really enough to blend the entire bite together. It also makes it a little more difficult to control everything with chopsticks (another debatable part is that it is perfect for picking up with your hands). Again, this is strictly from a balance perspective. If you are a bigger fan of sashimi this is perfect for you. The only other point I will make is that I wish that they would send you home with more miso soup. They send you with just about a bowl's worth; which is fine if you are by yourself, but when you are obviously getting sushi for more than one person, it would be nice if they asked how many people are eating. Again, if you want to enjoy sushi without having to deal with eating it in a restaurant... THIS PLACE IS PERFECT!!!! It is a good sushi, a good price, and close to the perfect setup for a night in. If you are on the east side of town, take advantage of this hidden gem.

This was not what we expected but the staff was friendly and 1/2 patrons at the food hall were eating sushi. The stalls have big energy today and lots of patrons are searching for a seat. Why not give them a chance? The menu is fairly varied for a small pop-up with traditional and deep fried sushi rolls. The female wait staff is handing out egg drop soup samples to everyone, ever those eating pizza and gyros. Looking around, these rolls are huge. We chose the Sonoran roll with shrimp tempora, spicy tuna, spicy crab topped with seared salmon and yuzu sauce. This roll was flavorful and spicy. Another roll was the Samurai with shrimp tempora, cream cheese, avacado wrapped in soy paper deep fried and covered with spicy crab / shrimp mix baked in a spicy aioli and eel sauce. This was our favorite roll with a pop in the tempora shrimp and an uncious taste coupled with a bite. Our third and final roll was the heart attack. Another spicy roll with shrimp tempora, avacado, cream cheese topped with jalepeno, spicy crab and chef sauce. Again, another good roll and a ton of food. This food mall is in an unassuming neighborhood with a smiling server who is hustling like crazy. The sushi was good, unique and tasty. It was a huge amount of food. Give this hard working staff and chance, she is enthusiastic and working hard. To the staff at Samurai Sombrero who are working hard and obviously, not a trained sushi chef. To the public, take a chance, give Samurai Sombrero a try and judge for yourself.

The menu seems a bit more fusion than traditional but a good balance of pushing boundaries without trying too hard. We made a reservation for lunch on a Sunday but were only one of three parties. We ordered quite a bit but our favorites definitely were the pork belly appetizer, the hafu roll, and the neo-genesis roll. I'd love to come back and try their ramen.

Walked in, immediately greeted and sat at the bar, our request. The hostess also our cocktail and beer server. Hubby had a delicious clarified cocktail which was absolutely yummy but at $18 a pop for a good four drinks and it's gone cocktail, ok. I know they take time to make. I had a $10 Sapporo draft. We then ordered two pork Bao Buns, two sushi rolls, the Shiro Maki and the Tataki Maki. Both really good, really well rolled, not an abundance of rice either. I am obsessed with Ramen, I decided to order the house Ramen, the Obon, without the Bonito flakes because I'm not a fan. Looked good when it came, I just wasn't happy with it. It lacked something, umami, a well developed broth, who knows, I just know it wasn't what I normally like. It gave me heartburn from hell too. Overall, $150 later I left somewhat dissatisfied and disappointed. For a Sunday, at noon, four tables worth of patrons. Not loud, not super quiet, nice ambiance. I doubt that I'll go back, if we do, it will be for their $22 rolls of sushi.

Their servers are very friendly and attentive to all customers too. I highly recommend this restaurant to all sushi lovers.
