I stopped by for dinner and I got the BYOB large bowl and got salmon with white rice, edamame, carrots, cucumber, crispy onion and tobiko, all with Sriracha aioli and shoyu. It was a good thing I used chopsticks and it slowed me down because it was soooo good. The salmon was definitely fresh as well as the veggies. The rice was warm but not so hot that it offset the temperature of the toppings. My only complaint is that the price is somewhat high for poke, but seeing it is the only sole poke place up in this joint I suppose they can charge that much if they want to. I also wish you could do a salmon/ahi tuna mix for the poke. Maybe you can do that and I just didn't ask? Guess I'll have to come back to find out. read more

Really enjoyed the Fresh Fin. I've heard it described as "inside out sushi" and that's pretty accurate. Note that it's raw fish, but there are other options available (I see you, sushi haters.) You can build your own bowl or choose from some concoctions they have created for customers. There's two sizes and you can have your toppings on two kinds of rice or mixed greens. It was all super fresh (I got the mango tango small on mixed greens) and my only criticism was as others mentioned is it was a little oversauced. The fish I tasted was super fresh though, so no real need for it. Anywho, this is a fast casual restaurant similar to a qdoba or chipotle concept, with tables scattered around and a window type bar with stools facing south on North for us solo and carryout diners. I've heard others comment on food taking too long, but my experience was the exact opposite. I placed my order and hadn't even paid when I decided to switch from spicy tuna to mango tango. They had already started prepping for the tuna so they had to talk to the kitchen right away and get them to change. My food was ready much faster than expected. It is a little pricy for fastish food but eating healthy has a lot of benefits that make up for a few bucks. Milwaukee is lucky to have this concept come to the city! read more

Stopped in here for dinner with bae. They have traditional poke options as well as cooked options (chicken). The lids for the soda cups weren't fitting correctly and I thought it was just me. The, I assume, owner brought us lids that fit the cups and we were joking about it. He was very friendly. I got the salmon dish which was super tasty and bae got the chicken which he really enjoyed. I'd stop down here again. A regular size bowl was enough for me for dinner and to have some leftovers for later. They do seem to only have plastic serving ware which I feel bad that it all goes in the landfill. I'll probably avoid eating here because of the waste. Great atmosphere and delicious food! Had a complication with my order and was not given one of my bowls on 5/26 but was quickly accommodated for the error that the store made. It is a busy time with delivery and i understand that new employees are trying to get up to speed with training. The store owner NATE did a superb job with communicating why the issue happened and came we came to an agreeable resolution. It's very rare to find a vendor in Milwaukee that shows value in their work especially in the restaurant business. I've been waiting and waiting for this place to open!! I'm so excited to get Poke whenever I want now! Upon arriving the place was mostly empty just 3 people waiting around. The girl behind the counter was very nice offering suggestions and helping me decipher the menu. I ended up going with the Mango Tango bowl on her suggestion. Wow she was not wrong. That was some gooooood poke! Perfect combination of crunch and rice and salmon. The sweet from the mango was a nice contrast with the ginger. The regular bowl is big enough for a meal. I did not leave hungry! The one star reduction comes from the 20+ minute wait to get said Poke bowl. With only 3 people in the restaurant it doesn't make sense why it took so long to get something that isn't even cooked.... As I was there the amount of people increased and the wait in line increased even more. I saw 3 people leave after waiting a few minutes, seeing no one eating, and figuring they didn't have enough time for this place. Even the people who worked next door had to come back 3 times to check if their food was ready but were called back to work. Luckily I didn't have anywhere to be, but I too was irritated with that long of a wait. The owner didn't check in on me while I waited but he did ask every single customer how their food was after it arrived. Without a second thought every customer was very happy with their bowl. I will definitely be back, especially if they add acai bowls to their repertoire, I'll just make sure I'm never in a rush and put enough change in the meter! This place is worth the wait! I ordered to go and was in and out in 5 minutes. I ordered the Build Your Bowl ($7.95): shrimp (I know, I know.. I didn't try the fish), white rice, sweet shoyu, edename, mango, pineapple, and crispy onion. I ordered the regular size and was full. I think the large size would be good if you are super hungry. We've been to a few poke places in Chicago and this is even better! Fresh fish; fresh ingredients. They just opened this week and I'm sure they're only going to improve with age. Grand opening is supposed to be in a couple weeks. Very healthy portion sizes -- you could probably get a large for lunch, eat half, and save the other half for dinner if you have enough self control (I don't). Yum. Yum. Yum. I am obsessed with Fresh Fin! If I could get it everyday, I would. I love their spicy tuna bowl the most but I have heard wonderful things about the salmon one as well. The spicy tuna is quite spicy due to the wasabi mayo (you have been warned!) but it is also super flavorful and you get massive chunks of tuna. I prefer to get a brown rice bottom but you can also get white rice or mixed greens. The only thing about this place is that they tend to raise the prices every once in a while, so expect to pay $10 ish for a bowl but it will be worth every penny! Updated review: after giving Fresh Fin another chance after they opened up in the third ward I have been back twice. I got the shrimp coconut curry bowl and it is great! A bit spicy, but that's a plus for me. Much much better experience since the first time I had it!!! I really enjoyed the texture of the dish--crunch from the toasted coconut, carrots, and crispy onion, and the creaminess from the curry aioli and the white rice. I also enjoyed the spiciness (heat) that comes from the curry. I've been to other poke places and this bowl is unique. The crab salad is very good to add as a topping. I am glad this app lace opened. Ok...no. There are better Poke bowls to be had in Milwaukee. Stopped by on a Friday night - in the mood for sushi, but not in the mood to spend money - Poke, right? Yum! Sadly, not. The reviews of this spot are actually excellent, and I trust my yelp community, but I probably won't be back here. 1) It's exceedingly bizarre to me that the ingredients are not on display - there is no way to see the fish, the veggies, etc and gauge the freshness before you spend money. Considering the raw fish element, this is troubling. The service is through a hole in the wall too, so you can't even see the kitchen. 2) There are actually few veggies to choose from. I added nearly everything on the menu that wasn't fruit - edamame, kale, carrots, jalapenos, avocado. Beets are an upcharge. (beets?!) 3) Your Poke bowl will come out slathered in sauce and premixed - again, this turns your food into a one-color mash and makes it hard to assess the fish quality and freshness. 4) My bowl was 75% jalapenos when it came out. I'd also ordered the sriracha aioli, and it was nearly too hot to eat. I ended up not finishing - too much sauce, too much heat, minimal mystery tuna. I've had Poke that was excellent, but this was not it. Disappointing. read more

My tongue went numb. I had the spicy tuna poké with white rice and while it was delicious, something very strange happened when I was finished. I don't have any food allergies, but as I left the store, the tip of my tongue went numb. I wondered for a while if I had bitten it, but I hadn't. It was weird. WOW! Everyone needs to check out Fresh Fin Poke ASAP! This was one of the best poke bowls that I have ever had! We tried 3 different ones (Mango Tango, Spicy Tuna, and Curry Coconut Shrimp). The flavors were great in all 3, but my favorite was Mango Tango. Absolutely delicious! Spicy Tuna was great, but a little too spicy for me. I think if I was to order it again, I would take out the jalapenos, as I don't care for spicy foods. And the Curry Coconut Shrimp was delicious if you are a curry lover. Portion sizes are great for the prices, and the interior is very cute and clean with a lot of natural light. The owner Nate was extremely helpful on recommendations and explaining the different flavors as well as walking around the restaurant making sure everyone was enjoying the food. This is my favorite place in Milwaukee. The mango bowl (first one on the menu) is AMAZING. A wonderful mix between savory, sweet, creamy because of the avocado, and spicy if you had fresh jalepenos (at no cost). Try it with a side of creamy siracha mayo. Another thing is that they do not skimp you on the protein, which is great since most poke lovers love raw fish. I've also tried the spicy tuna bowl which is also good but my favorite is still the mango bowl. The creator of this menu REALLY knows food and I'm really impressed by it. We Went out of our way to come and try the new Poke spot on a wet, rainy, & icy Monday night 1/15/17... We were very excited cuz we have been waiting for a while. The place is small but very clean. I like the Asian theme to it. Great choice of bamboo light fixtures! Music was also mellow and relaxing...Most importantly, bathroom was CLEAN! Front girl was also very nice and accommodating. It was not so busy so it was nice. When it was our turn to order, I ordered the Spicy Tuna large bowl, but they ran out of tuna. So, they substituted it with Salmon. My son got the Large Cilantro Chicken, but replaced it with Salmon. It was nice that they were able to substitute things. Despite the "not so busy" time, we waited a good 20 min for our order. Placed our order at 5:42pm, and we got our orders, approx 20 min later. But it was incomplete. My order was missing the edamame, seaweed salad, ginger. When I asked for some ginger, they gave 2 pieces of ginger; which sucked cuz I love ginger. On top of that they did not have white rice ready. So, they had to replace it with brown rice, which was fine. We are still waiting for the 3rd bowl as I am tying this. Finally, at 6:42pm we got our to go order. The rice was HOT! I decided to give it a 4 star cuz it was very good, but a bit disappointing. The front girl did mention they had a big order earlier and they ran out of some ingredients (e.g.tuna) On the up and up, we still plan to come back because it is the only Poke place on the Eastside and it is close to us. In addition, the price is pretty reasonable and it was delish! Just a suggestion, I hope the owner enforce hairnets for the employees that are prepping the bowls because they are serving raw fish. SOOO Satisfying!! FreshFin just take all my money!! I'm a vegetarian (and do really miss sushi), but there's not a THING to miss in the veggie style bowls. I got the Mango Tango, which was just so refreshing and bright on a freezing cold winter day. The Shiitake, Sweet Potato, Avocado "meat substitute" blend makes my mouth just thinking about it. I also got the smaller size bowl, and a mix of rice and greens, which was perfect for lunch. Good poke bowls. Everything is super fresh even the pineapple and mango. I cut 1 star because of the price. The price is on the higher side. 2 chipotle/Qdoba bowls= 1 large poke bowl. The other star was cut because of that fact that I couldn't see the bowl being made in front of my eyes so couldn't control how much of what topping I wanted. Tip for the restaurant: Please have a setup where the customer can see the fresh ingredients. I don't like the fact that my food is made in the kitchen and I have to choose ingredients like Tobiko, Roasted Shitake Mushroom or crispy garlic without getting to see how they look. An average person hasn't ever seen such toppings. Plus I don't have a control on the quantity being put in my bowl. I was once served with a bowl with more brown rice than protein and topping. If the bowl was made in front of my eyes I would be able to tell the cook to add less rice. I've been here twice while visiting. First time back in February and most recently last month. I'm going to break it down as follows: - Decor is clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. The employees were super friendly and cheerful. I also love that it's on the Eastside because I don't usually get to frequent that side of town anymore when I visit (since Bayview is now the hipster mecca of MKE). - Most important, the food! Both times I had the salmon bowl w/ white rice; it was delicious! Perfect meal. I love that they give you wasabi upon request and highly enjoy the Rishi iced tea. I cannot get a proper Poké bowl where I live in CO, so it's a special treat to say the least. Yum! One con to consider, however, and the only reason for the 4/5 stars: Both times I ate here, I dined in. I noticed they had a delivery service (Grubhub?) , so I understand why they use disposable bowls/utensils. I just wish that when you dine inside, they didn't use the disposable stuff. FreshFin is great for anyone new to Poke, or a long time fan. The menu consists of 5-6 Signature Bowls of curated items. I love that they advertise "substitutions welcome"! I have tried several of their signature bowls. The Spicy Tuna reminds me a tuna roll and is a must try for sushi fans. The Curry Coconut Shrimp, which I've substituted the shrimp for chicken, is my favorite. There is mango, cilantro, carrots, toasted coconut and curry aioli served over rice. So tasty that this has been my go-to. I've also tried the Cilantro Chicken, which is great over rice or greens. My favorite part of this dish is the edamame and spicy ginger sauce. In addition to the signature bowls they offer a "Build Your Own Bowl" option. Everything about this place is great - just what Milwaukee needed! What is poke, you ask? Think deconstructed sushi in a bowl. Great for takeout or eating in. It's a fast-casual feel on the inside. Cute, trendy, casual decor. Plus, when the weather is nice, you can sit outside. The food, oh the food. It's outstanding! The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. If it is your first time, I recommend going with a signature bowl. That way, you can get a feel for the flavors. I went with the spicy tuna signature bowl, and it did not disappoint! From there on out, I've done the "build your own bowl" option to try different combinations. The portions, in my opinion, are huge! The regular size (smaller one) doesn't look big, but it's very filling and more than enough food - you won't leave feeling hungry. I think their prices are incredibly reasonable, too. My first time there, one of the owners stopped by to see how things were. He sat down and we chatted a bit - incredibly friendly guy and seemed very genuine and interested to hear how we liked the food. Huge fan! read more

Curried shrimp is excellent. I would suggest adding optional crab and mango. Mango would give you a bit of sweet/sour bite sensation, which would enhance this dish. This is like a typical chicken salad, but made with shrimp instead. It is rich and creamy and is mixed with madras curry powder, typically used in Chinese restaurant for dished named "curry". Essentially, it is made with Turmeric base with probably a blend of curry leaves, turmeric, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, chilli pepper, bay leaves, fenugreek, allspice and black pepper. Spicy tuna is also excellent. I am not sure what kind of spices were used but the result was tasty but not spicy hot. If you have to choose between the two, chose Spicy Tuna on your first trip and go for Curried Shrimp on the next; but be sure to try both. :) I would suggest going with white rice or brown rice.
