Fast services I ordered a spicy salmon sushi roll and octopus appetizer , they gave me a buzzer and in leads than 10 minutes I got my order! It was a pretty busy weekend evening too after an event at the Baird center so that was da plus. The seating is in a common food hall at the 3rd street food hall so first come first serve. It's a nice place to hang with friends and meetup to have some grub. Next time I'll try their ramen! Been to the other locations so I can attest the ramen tastes great too!

This is $16? Not worth it.

I was on like day 5 of a conference. I wanted something different and light. A deep fried sushi roll is not that but I thought it would be better than a burger. This place is beyond disappointing. I paid I think $16 for a 8 piece roll. The ramen looked much better but stay away from their rolls. They are expensive, give you way too little for price.

Food? I've been to Japan. I visit Hawaii often. I live in an area famous for Japanese ag, as well as having had the largest army base on the West Coast. I know Japanese food. I loved the Yuzu Chicken Ramen. I loved the broth, although the Yuzu flavor was very subtle. The chicken was dryer than dust which can happen easily if you use breast meat. The jammy egg was a taste sensation! The noodles were delicious and springy. Went back the next day for the Tokyo Tonkatsu Ramen. The grilled pork belly was really a huge thick piece of grilled bacon! Totally delicious, not greasy and with a different creamy broth. The to-go container is genius! There's a large container with the broth and then a lift-out insert containing the noodles and toppings capped with a very tight fitting cover. Service? The staff that I encountered, although not Japanese, was very knowledgeable about their products and cooking techniques. They were super friendly too! Ambiance? It is located within the 3rd St Market Hall (which isn't a market Hall but rather a mall-style food court). This is a destination spot for young folks to hang out with cornhole, shuffleboard, pinball, and arcade games. The music is a bit loud for this 67yo bat to hear my partner but it wasn't obnoxious. The seating was comfy. The place is very clean. I liked being there Monday afternoon but I'm sure the nighttime crowd would drive me nuts! Time for another refrain of "Gerroff my lawn!"

Our first visit to Milwaukee and first meal here as well. Heard the 3rd Street Market was a place to visit while here and our hotel was right next door. None of the vendors were really "grabbing" us food wise, so we settled for ramen seeing that the cook looked Asian. Being from the LA area of California and having visited Japan several times, we have high expectations for ramen. We hoped for the best, but unfortunately it was disappointing. I ordered the chicken ramen and my daughter ordered the Yuzu chicken ramen. We were both taken aback by the cooked chicken in the ramen. Usually the protein in ramen is cooked, thin sliced pork aka Chashu. The other ingredients ( sliced green onion and bamboo shoots) seemed "off", taste wise from what we would expect. The redeeming features in my chicken ramen were the jammy egg and the broth. My daughter felt the Yuzu broth wasn't very flavorful and had very little Yuzu taste. She also liked that the egg was jammy, not hard boiled. The service was friendly. As one of the vendors in the 3rd Street Market, the ambience is quiet different than being in a stand alone restaurant as it a large hall with loud shared music that does not enhance the vibe you wish to create for your space. The frontage decor gave an Asian feel as well as the uniform the cashier wore. Granted, Wisconsin isn't known for its ramen, but I tend to be optimistic and hope for a surprise. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

Came here with some friends over the weekend and gave Kawa a try for the first time. My husband ate the chicken bowl and said it was pretty good. He liked the flavors and said it was rather filling. We shared the crab rangoons which were crispy and amazing! There were only 4 sadly. The edamame was great! Nice and salty. The only reason I took 1 star off is the price was a bit more expensive than I would've expected. I think these three came out to $40.

Kawa was pretty good but I can only compare it to my ol' go to place in Florida when it comes to chicken and steak bowls. - Maui Teriyaki. I got the Kawa chicken bowl and it was pretty good. Had to wait a bit for it, but I could roam the 3rd street food hall while waiting. My pallet isn't as good nowadays but I thought it wasn't as good as Maui. Seaweed was good and plenty of chicken and rice. 3rd St. food hall is bustling with activity, and I enjoyed people watching while eating.

    Chicken Fried Rice

Ordered a Chicken fried rice as recommended by cashier Steven and it was incredible! Ended up being my favorite fried rice in Milwaukee. Will be coming back again in the future.

Slow, unfriendly service. SO SLOW. Sushi was fine - fish seemed to be room temperature so that made me nervous.

If you are celiac or gluten-free, I don't recommend ever eating here. While they have a dedicated gluten-free menu with options for changing things out, on two separate occasions (of the 4 times I've been there) they've made a mistake. It puts you in a challenging and uncomfortable situation when you are curious about something actually being gluten-free. I know for myself, you don't want to insinuate that you don't trust your server! My most recent visit there I had the shittake/vegetable Ramen with rice noodles. I explained that I can't have soy sauce because it contains wheat. I explained that if they have tamari that they could check if it is wheat free because I often can have tamari instead of soy sauce. I explained that I can't have anything that contains wheat. My server informed me that she would make sure that this was gluten-free, that the rice noodles would be replacing the Ramen noodles. While eating I was curious if the noodles were not gluten-free, and I was informed that they do seem to be rice noodles. We were also sure to order the tofu as steamed rather than fried so that it would not have cross-contamination. (Due to first glutened experience) Later that night and the following day I can report that what I ate was not in fact, rice noodles or gluten free, and I have been glutened. On a previous occasion, I ordered the fresh spring rolls with a sauce that I was informed was gluten-free with tofu. While already eating this, the server came over and informed me that the tofu was not gluten-free, and had been fried. I think that there may be some lack of understanding what gluten-free means and how it impacts people generally in most of the food service industry. I believe they did their best to try to accommodate. That being said if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, please steer clear! Very unfortunate because it was tasty. I understand that as someone who needs to eat gluten-free that I am taking a risk by eating at a restaurant that is not gluten-free forward. Although they have a dedicated allergy menu, two out of the four times I've eaten there it hasn't made a difference. Great restaurant, not great for celiac.

But luckily my husband quickly checked well before we were served and saw there were reservations available online, so he booked us one on the spot. We were then given two excuses, one by the bartender and a different one by the host as to why they couldn't honor the reservation: (1) there were no tables available for us (note the place was half empty, but we supposed maybe there were lots of reservations coming later--nope, the place was still half full by the time we left); (2) we had to make the reservations 30-40 minutes in advance and we didn't do that so even though we did have a reservation, they couldn't honor it because we made it too soon to the reservation time (WOW--complete BS). We were peeved but decided we should just enjoy our dinner. BUT as we were finishing up, about 5 couples came in WITHOUT a reservation and both the host and the bartender gave each couple the option to either sit at the bar or at a table. When I confronted the bartender about it, she claimed "they weren't supposed to do that." WHAT?! She literally just offered a couple a table without a reservation. What do you mean?! It was insulting. Anyway, we will absolutely NEVER come back here. The tip we left was solely for the kitchen staff who were hard at work and doing an honest job. Bartender and hosts are discriminatory and awful. Do NOT recommend if you are looking to be treated with respect. Would give zero stars if that were an option.
