It feels more like an apple store than a restaurant. And they use the same bowls for dine in and take out. This is a clever move, and cuts down on food transfer and whatnot. Now then. The food. My husband and I shared and customized one of the bowls on the menu to be vegetarian with a mix of the greens and rice. Its really easy to ask for ingredients to be swapped or removed. The large was a good portion for sharing (but could easily be finished by one person) and the dish itself was incredibly flavorful. They also have a smaller bowl option. Its a quick and casual experience; you order at the counter and either wait for it to go or have it at a table of your choosing. This place must be using some kind of witchcraft because every single bite has the perfect proportion of ingredients. The fish is also extremely fresh and the sauces on their bowls are insanely good. I have tried 3 different bowls thus far and all have been excellent. I brought a friend here the other day and was scolded for starting her down the path to becoming a regular. We came here right before noon and they weren't very busy yet. A total five minute wait from ordering. We took at look at the menu and chose one of the menu suggestions rather than making our own bowl. I agree that it can be a bit intimidating if you don't know what you want in your bowl. The owner was right there and able to help with questions. The hubs and I opted both for the spicy tuna bowl. The tuna did taste flash frozen (I say this because of the texture) but it was still good. The pieces were also smaller than I expected. There were a few smaller pieces and a few big ones. There was edamame and tobiko, crunchy onion, and a siracha mayo. The fish itself was not seasoned. When the bowls came out, I was thinking it wouldn't be enough. But by the end we were both stuffed. The smaller bowl is $7.95 and the larger $11.95. The space is clean and modern. We shall be back to try out the menu. read more

Wow. Just ... wow. FreshFin has the holy trinity: awesome food, great service, and a super-cool space. We wanted to try a few different things, so we ordered a couple of the signature bowls. All of the ingredients were very fresh and packed with strong, but not overpowering, flavor. (Special shout-out for the fish--it seemed to be better quality than most of the sushi I've had.) This place was tiny, cute, and had a nautical feel to it. I went in on a night when the weather was hot in winter, so it was busy. The wait in line for this day was a bit long, but it gave me a chance to look over the menu. Although the menu was small, it offered a " Make your own bowl" which took a minute to read through. I got the regular mango tango. It looked like a small bowl of food to me, but it filled me up properly. My particular order was delicious, but it was either missing mango or I ate it and didn't even notice. I will try it out again to find out, but it was a good bowl of food either way. Fresh fish, properly cooked rice, and a savory sauce that lingers in a good way. What made it was the surprise fried onions. It was in the menu description, but really added a new flavor that I wasn't expecting. Again, a regular bowl was more than enough to fill me up, without feeling heavy. So a large would probably make good leftovers. The place is small with very limited seating, so it is not a place for groups of people. And with one person food running/manning the counter, it could take a while for the actual food to come out. With that, I hope this place grows. The menu itself has a lot of potential to expand, but more so, I hope this place can find a larger space or can budget in one more person for the front of house. read more

This place is awesome! The food does take a little longer than I expected but it was worth the wait. You can either go with a premier bowl (Curry was great!) or build your own. The small bowl is enough unless you're super hungry. Be sure to ask them to go light on the sauce because sometimes there's more in the bowl than I'd like. From what I understood, most of the bowls tend to be cold, sort of a mashed up version of sushi, but the chicken bowl is warm. The flavors all blend nicely-- the well-seasoned chicken, cilantro, lime, edamame, and a nice crunch from the crispy onion. The inside environment was clean and neat. I would give this place 5 stars, but it is EXPENSIVE. According to date, the price went up around $5 per dish since she was here in February. It was $30 for two bowl-- I could go to a nice sit-down restaurant for that price! 4 stars from me, and I will return, but not as frequently as if the prices were lower. read more

Food was a solid 4, only real complaint was that the three options we tried all were quite a bit over sauced. Side note: if you are looking for an entree portion of food, go large. The process to get food is not quite a disaster but no where near expectations for a fast casual restaurant. We made two rounds of orders and both took a very long time for the food to come out and the joint wasn't particularly busy, I don't see this as a common issue in other reviews and the place is relatively new, so maybe they were having an off night, but if that is how long food normally will take to come out, this joint won't be around for very long.
