FreshFish is one of my favorite poke food carts in Portland. Located in the CORE complex on 82nd Ave, this location offers lots of parking, as well as a giant, indoor seating area. I've ordered from FreshFish multiple times, trying a number of their signature bowls. I get a little anxious selecting my own ingredients and sauces, but this option is available if you'd like. My favorite dish is the spicy salmon don, which includes spicy salmon, avocado, red onion, green onion, seaweed salad, crispy garlic, onions, furikake, nori, masago, and spicy creamy habanero sauce over rice or greens, or a mixture of both. I find it a perfect blending of flavor and texture, and it always hits the spot! I've never had to wait very long for my dish, and everything tastes fresh and delicious! We ordered from FreshFish Poke and the food was delicious. They carefully craft their poke bowls. You have the option to choose one with all the ingredients chosen for you, or you can make your own. I'm not gonna lie. I liked it so much that I ordered again the next day. The first time I ordered a bowl with the ingredients picked for me and the second time, I crafted my own bowl. I always come here for poke bowls! It never disappoints. It's not traditional Hawaiian style, but it's the best I've had in Portland. I highly recommend the spicy salmon don. Solid poke don spot. Not traditional hawaiian poke, more like japanese fusion (I think?) but - good variety of options, mix and match or pick one of the presets, watch them make it right in front of you. Plenty of food for a reasonable price, fish is nice and fresh, good sauces and toppings. I'm a fan. read more

This food pod area is so clean, modern and food was quick and delicious. I had only had poke one time before - but you can order with greens or rice base and add your protein, choice of sauce (I had my poke in Hawaii so I chose that) and then as many veges as you want! We were visiting in the area and heard about the food cart pod! Made our way over, and the first thing I saw was FreshFish Poke. I got the build your bowl, which was $15 for a regular, and it was pretty big! I got the white rice, ahi tuna, red onion, green onion, crab salad, crispy garlic, and crispy onion (if you can't tell, I love onions lol). It tasted very fresh and was really good! I debated between the house poke sauce and the classic hawaiian. The guy let me try the house sauce because he said it was a little spicy, and since we were from out of town, I decided to do as the Romans do and got the house sauce. It was good and not really that spicy! It had a flavor that reminded me of something, but I couldn't quite place it. One of the happier things in life is finding good poke spots in town and this one was one of the best that I've tried! Eating their build your own bowl was such a bliss. I got the atlantic salmon, tuna, and spicy tuna with most of the toppings. All very fresh ingredients from the fish to the toppings: crispy cucumber, tender avocados, delicious crab and seaweed salad, sweet sweetcorns, and crunchy fried garlic and shallots. Every bite was unique and fun. The Red Miso Sauce was super flavorful without being overpowering, tying the bowl together. I especially loved the hint of ginger and well-balanced spices in the sauce. Coming in at a 32oz bowl for the large size, their portion is HEFTY to say the least. My bowl was, in every sense of the words, packed to the brim with deliciousness. This might be the first poke bowl I couldn't finish in one go! Not that it wasn't tasty, clearly, but boy they're generous. Crazy to think that this meticulously put together beauty of a bowl came from a food truck, but maybe it's not. So much love and attention was put into their food. Price: $16 (32oz) for a personalized bowl In my bowl I got half rice/half salad topped with salmon mixed in spicy creamy habanero sauce for takeout. The chunks of poke were fairly sized and the sauce was not spicy at all for being the spiciest option. For toppings I chose cucumber, red onion, masago, seaweed salad, crab salad, etc., since it was unlimited toppings. We grubhubbed it here and both had the Sensei bowl over veggies. Wow! There really ARE all those ingredients... and they are magic together! This is going to be my go-to poke spot in SE Portland. I did the build your own poke bowl with white rice, salmon, house poke sauce, and a ton if toppings (unlimited). I also got the large size and after tipping paid ~$16. I thought that was kind if pricey BUT the poke bowl is HUGE. The biggest poke bowl I have ever had and the salmon was good. I just got out of the gym and can usually eat a good amount but I might settle for the regular size next time. The large size are for those who are extra hungry 5/5, definitely coming back and would recommend if you're looking to get some good poke in town. read more

Picture it. Its April 25th, the City of Roses has finally emerged from the dank and darkness of a long, wet, cold winter. Portlanders have been huddled in our homes for months, yearning for just a little respite from the gloom and today is that day! Just the 2nd day in 2023 where the temperature has climbed over 60. The forecast for the rest of the week only getting better, culminating in an 85-degree Friday! You can feel hope in the air. Its late afternoon, the sun is streaming into my living room, the heat has finally been turned off, I'm watching an NBA playoff game with my partner, I've puffed on a lovely little East Fork - Create pre-roll. Today is a good day. A day for poke. I've ordered, for the first time, from Fresh Fish Poke. I take my first bite, a combination of avocado & crab salad.... The avocado is creamy & plentiful, the crab salad is crab salading. The house poke sauce is sweet with a little heat that is surprising but perfect. I find my next bite, a beautiful chunk of salmon, rice, cucumber, corn & crispy shallots. The salmon melted in my mouth, and I thought, is this the best poke bowl ever?? More bites, more joy. I said out loud to my partner, "this is the best poke bowl I've ever had". He replied, "I heard you the first time". Had I blacked out from deliciousness??? As I kept eating, I knew there would be many more trips in my future to this paradise of poke, this curator of creatures of the deep, for this fabulous fish feast. Seriously though, it's SO good. I ordered the "world class poke" and my wife got the spicy salmon bowl. Both were really good, a perfect combination of fresh ingredients and warm rice. Wife had never had POKE before. She was sold. We were just on our way back to the ferry home, and needed a late lunch . . . this was perfect. Great flavors and really tasted fresh & good. Really disappointing food. We ordered online and left a large note to put the sauce on the side since none of the ingredients are listed and it was ignored. The rice was also thoroughly swimming in sauce and was practically inedible. The poke sauce was pretty flavorless except for being spicy which isn't listed but if you're sensitive to spice I would avoid it. For a $17 bowl I also expect more than 5 pieces of fish. The crab salad was also very bland. All in all it was incredibly disappointing and I will not be eating here again. read more

The large is being under filled when you order online. I've received this a couple times and it shows up looking like a small portion. Even my fiancé says the small is under portioned. The food is good, just fill the bowl!!! They raised the price recently so I don't know if it's worth it. read more

This cart is located at the Eastport Food Center Carts. I came here for this poke food cart, but also order at other carts as well. The Sense Poke Bowl was really good and fresh and had great flavor. The topping is unlimited. They use quality ingredients and the fish was really good. The portions size was good too. Took our granddaughter out to lunch today to Hillboro Downtown Station and noticed the FreshFish Poke food truck and decided to give it a try. Both my wife and I had the Poke Your Way bowl with seared Scallops and Ahi Tuna and our granddaughter had the World Class Poke bowl. Without any hesitation, I would say it ranks right up there with the best Poke bowl I've ever had. The Tuna was excellent, but the seared Scallops were amazing. A beautiful sear, but somehow not cooked at all. Perfect. Also, all the other ingredients in the bowl were wonderfully fresh and made the bowl something special. One other thing I would suggest is don't bother with the regular size. The ultimate size difference for only a dollar makes the large a no brainer. Since we live in NE, it was suggested that we try their location on 82nd. I can only hope that it will be this good. When I'm back in Hillsboro, I will definitely stop to have this bowl again. read more

The person who was in charge of the poke was really nice. He noticed that my poke bowl was still too plain and still offered me if I wanted to put any more toppings. He was extremely nice about it. I've never had any restaurant owner ask for extra toppings. That was the first. I'm definitely coming back there soon. The portion was great and you're able to do half and half. It's good! read more

We went yesterday and after moving from Hawaii we have high expectations of poke bowls. The quality of the sushi was really excellent. We've eaten at a few conveyor belt sushi places around town and the fish and rice are never that great, so it's a relief to find a place with sushi fish this good. I got the chirashi bowl, which for $18.99 is a great deal. There was 3-4 pieces of salmon, 3-4 of excellent tuna, a couple of seared tuna, a shrimp, 2 pieces of eel, and a wad of spicy tuna and a dollop of fish eggs. The rice was really good too. The serving size wasn't huge, but it was enough. My wife got the salmon bowl and it was less food - an appetizer would have helped. We will be back! Very good quality, nice people.

Tight space. Tables seat two and you can squeeze three but I'm sure that won't meet fire code.

There are better, compostable and biodegradable options out there now I see at many restaurants I'll choose to visit instead. Otherwise I enjoy their poke bowls. Felt the size and amount of sauce and toppings for very fair for the price. The ahi tuna is good. Though it's disappointing they only offer the farm-raised Atlantic salmon when we're in the PNW so close to the best wild salmon in the world. I appreciate that they have several very good sauces to choose from, which appear to made in-house, and offer different 'styles' for your dish. The wide-range of toppings was a plus too. Otherwise a good spot, but just wish they'd do better with their serving containers.

Then select the little sides like crabmeat and avocado or seaweed salad (there's more options). Third, you pick the type of fish you want for your protein. More veggie extras, add sauces like ponzu or shoyu or spicy chili. Then you complete it with toppings of your choice as well; Corn, roasted garlic, onion, furikake, etc. My bowl was prepared by the same guy as the first time, who's probably the manager or owner. Who seemed polite, but didn't say much to help with the selections. No big deal regarding services. I ordered a Large Bowl for $19.99 and added a $3 tip. The container felt a bit heavy, but it also felt like a medium bowl for the price. It was that, two large scoops of rice, but you felt a bit shafted with the amount of poke given to compensate for the amount of rice. Suggestion: Add all the extras and toppings I guess.
