Good vibes and even better sandwiches! The customer service is out of this work. The staff and everyone associated with Freshly Baked Eatery are genuinely kind. We came right before closing so chairs and tables were being put away but we were still welcomed inside for a take out order. I had the Cajun turkey sandwich before from a friend and I've been searching for this spot ever since. I'm so glad I remembered the location a Tony was able to tell me the name of the sandwich based off my description alone. Everything is fresh and delicious. Best sandwiches in San Jose! My husband and daughter are now fans as well.

Super fast service and fresh bread makes this my new local sandwich spot! The bread was lightly crunchy and not too heavy. I got the prosciutto and provolone and it was big and filled with prosciutto. I liked the chopped up lettuce inside.

I've had this place bookmarked to go to for over 4 years, and it looks like business has been thriving all this time. I arrived a little after 1 pm on Wednesday and employees are super efficient, I got my roast beef sandwich minutes after I ordered it. They have seating inside, but most people sat at the tables outside to enjoy their sandwiches. Each sandwich comes with swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, dijon mustard, and pickles on the side. They come pre-cut in half and are super filling; it was easily two meals for me. The vegetables are super fresh and crisp. The sourdough bread complements the sandwich so well and is genuinely just good sourdough bread. This is a top notch deli sandwich place, miles above Jersey Mike's, Ike's, and Corner Bakery Cafe. I'm so excited to add this local spot to my lunch rotation. Cash only (they have an ATM inside) and all sandwiches are priced at $15.

Their bread is spectacular and has been since I've been going here in the last 5-6 years. It's just street parking for the most part so if it's lunch time and busy, you might be hard pressed to find a spot but it's worth it. The line can get long but it moves really quickly and note that it's cash only. They have an ATM inside if you need to use it before you order your sandwich. I've had a bunch of different sandwiches and they've all been delicious. Honestly, anything that you get between their bread is going to be good. It's warm, crusty on the outside but soft enough to bite through without the roof of your mouth getting tore up. The people working there are super friendly and it's just a great spot to grab lunch.

    The owners are super friendly!

What a wonderful spot for lunch! I had the German Salami (ask about it if you don't see it on the menu) and it was incredible. As an added bonus, their chip and drink selection is very good too. The prices are very competitive and they keep them low by reducing non-necessary costs like credit card fees. Payment is cash only. I will be definitely be back when I'm in San Jose.

Fresh sourdough bread deli sandwiches, set price, comes with a pickle, cash only. This place is modeled exactly the same as California Sourdough on Murphy Ave/Oakland Rd. I'd be surprised if these 2 places weren't related. I got the #14 Pastrami and Turkey with everything. Excellent sandwich and very substantial amount of food. I will say the bread was not as fresh as when I had it at California sourdough. I also felt like the sandwich construction here was not up to par. Still really good though! I'll definitely go here if it's convenient.

Although there are many sandwich spots in San Jose - there is something that sets this place apart, and (unironically) it's the bread. The meat is fine (it's just Boar's Head, which is solid but not revolutionary) and that brings this review down a star, but the bread is where the sandwiches shine. The rye on the pastrami bread was perfectly sweet and soft, unlike other spots in San Jose. I'd go there just for the bread if I could. Beware this establishment is cash only (though there is an ATM on the premises)!

CASH ONLY w/ ATM inside*** The sourdough bread was delicious, wish meat portions were a tad bit more. Overall, good sandwich and efficient staff; didn't wait long at all for sandwich. Note: Park off street parking and walk to the deli since parking on the streets is limited.

When did they open their doors? What year was it?

Do they take phone orders for to-go?

Yes! But when they are very busy, they are unable to answer the phone. Best to call before noon.

Did the crust change? Looks different and taste different

    Same as I've tasted

Is this sandwich shop also owned by CA Sourdough on Oakland rd? I've gotten great sandwiches from both places and the sandwiches seem very similar.

No, but it's like their family members place. Like their brother-in-law owns CA Sourdough or something (I asked once, but already forgot 😝)

    Do they have GF bread?

No only sourdough rolls and marble rye.

I went here after a YouTube video I saw ON ACCIDENT. My Youtube was autoplaying videos on the TV,…read moreand I saw this place and thought "Man, I wish we had a place like this in San Jose." Then I realized the video was highlighting the best food spots in San Jose! I live in West SJ and it's a 20 minute drive to Antipasto, but I didn't mind, I had to find out for myself. I hurried up and went there immediately, only to realize they were closed on Mondays. My mistake, I actually went online to check their schedule, and got into the menu a bit too passionately, that I forgot to actually check their hours. So I went back on Wednesday, and decided to double check that they were actually open this time. Upon walking in, I was a little intimidated to be honest. Everybody looked like a regular, while I walked around like a headless chicken trying to figure out which side of the store to go to. Nick noticed that, and went out of his way from behind the counter to guide me and my wife. He let us know where to go for sandwiches, the butcher, raviolis, etc... Me and my wife got the lasagna dinner with 2 meatballs, and TBC beef ravioli W/ salads. It was love at first bite. This place was better than all the Italian places in San Jose, without a doubt. Yes, I'm talking to you Original Joes and Maggiannos. All throughout our meal, we noticed people chatting with Nick and the rest of the staff as if they were family. Who knows they might be! Nick continued to include us by talking to us and making us feel welcomed. We are fans for life! Great food, great service, what else can you ask for? I just can't believe I never knew about this place after living in San Jose for 30 years.

I picked up a bag of Lay's Masala chips I haven't had since I was in Mumbai, excited to eat it with my sandwich. The sandwich took about 10 minutes to make and panini-press and smelled delicious. However, when I got home I immediately noticed the color and thought they had mistakenly used roast beef. I looked at some of the other reviews and their doordash image and I'm confused on what I got. The pastrami was missing the distinct reddish-pink color from brining and black bark from smoking, I'm not sure how it was prepped in-house but it tasted like roast beef. I did enjoy the blueberry jam and pepperoncini combo.

It's been lacking some logistics and sometimes, it's difficult to hear the order being called out while lots of customers are inside. I told the front staffs that I wanted my portobello chicken sandwich $15.99 and the watermelon beverage $7.99 for here/dine-in. I even left them over $3.50 tips here. While everyone else picked up their orders very fast, mine was stuck somewhere in between others. They all got table numbers except me. I even asked if I needed a table number since I was planning to dine-in, but nobody answered or wanted to respond. They were too busy preparing sandwiches. Wait time to receive order was a bit over 15 minutes. I ended up standing around waiting and waiting, thinking about why I even tipped the place when my anxiety levels were escalating. Without a table number, how would they even know which table outside to deliver my orders to? Portobello chicken sandwich was very good though. Ingredients are full. Ciabatta bread was huge. This thick sandwich can definitely feed two people. Watermelon beverage tasted good too. Tables weren't all wiped down outside, but I can see the few employees hustling and bustling. It's still a strange feeling to not have a table number assigned to me while others did have one. Overall, sandwiches are still good and portions are generous. People love coming here. This spot is located in Strawberry Park in Saratoga and is right next to Clover Bakery. While Clover Bakery tends to have longer lines, I personally have never run into a scenario where Fugetsu is packed. There is no seating, by the way, and parking can get a little hectic because of the nature of this plaza. I will say that over the years, Fugetsu has really stocked up on its selection and range of food. When you first enter, they have their stock of okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and generous bentos. As you turn the corner, they have sashimi, onigiri, dons, and more. Sometimes I get decision paralysis, but in a good way. I want to note that while I have never been disappointed by the food I get here, there isn't anything that has blown me away either. That being said, whenever I am having a picnic, this is the first spot I think of when I want to stock up for my friends and me. What is cool about this place, too, is that half of the store is dedicated to food, while the second half has merch, trinkets, and dinnerware. They carry Sonny Angels, Smiskis, loads of Miffy items, some Sanrio, and if you're a Sylvanian Families collector like me, you'll really enjoy it here. That said, they do upcharge quite a bit on some items. For example, a Sonny Angel at Mitsuwa (in the same plaza) can be around $16 (which is still expensive), while here it's closer to $21.
