Drive by this place often and finally decided to try it today. I ordered the Torta Mexicana with chicken instead of carne asada. They definitely don't skimp on the filling, the sandwich was packed with flavorful chicken, and the sauce paired really well without overpowering everything else. I'd definitely come back and try more from their sandwich selection. They also have a good variety of drinks and coffee options. Parking was easy with plenty of space in the back. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and has both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of tables available. The menu is clearly displayed on the wall, and ordering was quick and efficient.

I went to The Best sandwich and ordered a Cuban sandwich $15 + tax Overall, I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. The service was normal, nothing special. The sandwich was decent, it did the job but wasn't very impressive in flavor. Café The latte didn't really taste like a latte, but it was still okay and helped me because I was hungry. Ambiance was quiet. Overall, the experience was acceptable. I might come back in the future, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Food came out fast and customer service was nice. The store seemed well maintained and has a cute area to the side for outdoor seating. The sandwich itself was really good! The chicken is well seasoned and they and pretty generous with the salad and greens.

The Torta Cubana was delicious, although felt a tad dry. I love the bread used. I think the lunch sandwiches are large enough to share. The restaurant is really cozy and clean. Service was excellent.

Probably the best Mexican sandwich Torta i ever eaten, food is delicious and juicy, the added egg is perfect with the Torta, Mango Mojito was very refreshing...

Today, I'm in the South Bay Area. It's just another day in the South Bay Area. Everytime I'm going down S Main St. towards the Great Mall, I would see this Shop. Today, I'm here at The Best Sandwiches in Milpitas this Sunday Afternoon. Ya, heard me. I said The Best Sandwiches. When they say they have The Best Sandwiches around here, I believe it. Shawarma derives from the Turkish Kebab. This order was made Custom. I gotta have a Beef Shawarma Sandwich with Avocado, Poblano Chiles, and Portobello with Hummus. And it felt like they used some Cumin to season the Shawarma, it gave that Smokiness to the Beef. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.8-4.3 stars, but I give this 4.2/4.3 stars out of 5 stars. It was a good Sandwich.

Picked up 4 sandwiches for a small group to haver for Super Bowl. I liked the ordering system they had as it allowed you to schedule a window to pick up food at. Also the ability to customize sandwiches and all the options was nice as well. When we picked up the sandwiches the inside was clean and decorated nicely. Food was ready and packed nicely when we arrived at the scheduled time. As a group we ordered and would rate each as Torta Cubana 4/5 Roast Beef 3/5 Pastrami Sandwich 3/5 Carnitas Torta 4/5 In general all the sandwiches had good bread, The Torta, French Baguette and Ciabatta were very good, The sauce condiments and extras on the sandwich were good as well and the pairings for the sauces with the cheese and vegetables all worked from a taste perspective. The issue was primarily with the Pastrami and Roast Beef. Both were cut very thick and were tough and chewy. I feel like if the meat is that tough and chewy for a sandwhich you have to slice it very thin, or if you're going to make the cuts that thick then make sure the meat is tender. With that said the carnitas, turkey and ham in the other 2 sandwiches were very tender. The other issue which was minor was the sandwiches weren't tagged identifying which was which. I would go back as overall the experience was good I just would avoid the tougher meats.

I wasn't sure what to order, but I opted for the torta cubana, which comes with slow cooked pork, turkey, ham, cheese, pickles, mayo, and habanero sauce. I had the habanero sauce removed, and the sandwich was fantastic overall. The bread was soft, the meats were delicious, and everything was put together really well. I also liked the portion size, which was filling and well worth it. Customer service was good. There is plenty of parking available, which is nice. The dining area inside is limited and can fit about two to four people, but they also offer outdoor seating. I also liked the outdoor decor, which added a nice touch to the overall vibe.

Pretty good sandwich, packed with meat. The pork is my main focus and even though there is so much sauce and other cuts, the pork can still be tasted (pretty good flavor). Although, my only issue was that it's a pretty wet sandwich so it was hard to eat but that's not really a big issue. The sandwich was $17 with tax and I didn't even finish all of it. It's a pretty good deal so I'd give it like a 4.3/5 personally.

gourmet chicken sandwich with savory cilantro lime sauce

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 We only ever order the gourmet chicken sandwich here (we tried the torta cubana but it was too salty and while the hibiscus and roses tea is good, all the drinks are made with corn syrup), but it's usually soo good! The poblano peppers inside offset the savory chicken so well and the green sauce (savory cilantro lime sauce?) it comes with is so yummy. I don't know what happened today though, the chicken was super rubbery which kind of took away from how good the sandwich usually is :/ Hopefully today was just a one-off thing, usually we love it! Servings here are pretty big, they cut the whole sandwich into two and I'll usually eat one half and save the other for the next meal. There's plenty of covered outdoor seating if you dine-in, and parking is shared with a few nearby places but there's usually plenty of spots available.

My wife introduced this place, The Best Sandwiches, to me awhile ago. Though, I think this was a different name and owner before. They used to have this apricot chutney and spicy herb green saice. But, this place has a somewhat similar menu to before. The place is small and has two small tables inside. House music and complimentary chilled spa water. They do offer patio seating outside. Order via kiosk and/or cashier. *Torta Cubana: unique marinated slow cooked pork, turkey, ham, cheese, pickles, mayo, and habanero sauce on a ciabatta bread. Served with habanero pickles onions (4/5). This is a huge sandwich packed with mounds of meat! It also is a messy sandwich when you put on that habanero sauce. I mean you don't need it because the sandwich is savory already. Support your local business.

I guess it's supposed to look like this... and without dry bread.

Sadly, i think I'm done with this sandwich place. I've tried the Milpitas location and the San Jose location and both times the sandwiches were made incorrectly. Today I called in sandwiches 30 minutes before I was arriving. When I get there they didn't make them. I ordered 2 Torta Cubano's - they didn't include the habanero onions. I ordered 1 veggie sandwich with no tomato and no chimichurri. What do I get? Tomatoes, chimichurri, and NO avocado. The amount of spinach was ridiculous. The bread was totally dry. Extremely disappointing. My last experience was a large group order that was only 60% right but I didn't review thinking it was a bad day. It's very unfortunate because I used to regard them as the best around. They've gone down to zero for me at this point. I work too hard to pay for this type of subpar product. Back to Ike's as the preference I guess.

The name speaks for itself. Meat, veg, bread ratio is on point. The Torta Cubana is not a traditional Cubano, it might be better! It's made with ciabatta bread and it's not pressed, but the flavors are all there and the meat is exceptional. The ciabatta actually absorbs all the meat juices and sauces nicely. When they offer their green sauce and pickled onions, always accept and ask for more cause one container of each won't be enough for the size of these sandwiches. They're yuge! I can finish one whole sandwich, but in all honesty, really should eat half at a time. There is no seating inside, but they created an outdoor patio in the parking lot that can seat about 20 people. The servers are always very friendly, but the service is slow. The times I have gone, granted they were lunch, but took at least 30 minutes before receiving my order. Trust, it is completely worth it. The Torta Mexicana and empanadas are also solid if you want to switch it up.

The place turned out great with the old fashioned retro red color style interior and the experience was wonderful. Good vibes and positive feelings when walking into it. My lady server provided excellent service and the Hispanic male worker was quick and efficient. Place is clean and menu had good variety of selections. Breakfast is served all day while lunch items start at 11am. My breakfast was very fulfilling and total was $25.30 with everything included. I paid in cash and tipped them $5. Loved my sweet lady server. There was another older woman at the cash register. She's a local as well. I really enjoyed the stop. I had the Fajitas Omelette breakfast and the steak meats in it were very generous. Delicious breakfast exactly as I had expected. My onions green peppers potatoes were perfect with a side of salsa. Sourdough toast was delicious with the garlic butter taste. I really came for my favorite hot chocolate with whipped cream in the morning. I do miss big American breakfasts, especially in these old fashioned and traditional retro spots. Love it. Why didn't I visit this place much earlier? Because they're always busy or full inside and the plaza parking is usually congested with heavy traffic here. Overall, I love the vibes and the service. It's one of those places where you can just have normal casual conversations with the staffs working inside if you are open to it. Beautiful diner. Yes, I will be revisiting in the future. We moved to Milpitas about a year ago and my son started going to Mil's and is a current 'Regular'. They have good food. So after a while, my husband and I started going there and we too started going there pretty regularly for breakfast, at least once or twice a week. All in all, between the family we drop a few hundred a week. And we do tip well. Most of the wait staff knows us. Today, my husband had to stop on his way home to use the restroom. He doesn't look homeless or unkempt in anyway. When he asked, they told him he couldn't unless he's a 'paying customer'. This was to a newer employee he hadnt seen before. He proceeded to explain that we eat here regularly and she still said no. He asked to speak to the manager, who does know him. He too said no. I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that for a supposed family atmosphere restaurant, they couldn't extend a small courtesy. What exactly was it going to take away from them? As mentioned, we drop a good chunk of change there, and they didnt want to help out a patron that frequents the restaurant? Well, have no fear, we will NEVER darken your doorstep EVER again.

So many places make their jasmine tea taste overly floral or perfume-like, but here the flavor was delicate, smooth, and just the right intensity. And let's talk about the boba--it was cooked perfectly! Soft, fresh, and delightfully chewy, exactly how boba should be. Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere is absolutely charming. It started with the barbacoa chilaquiles. When I saw that that the chilaquiles in the menu had habaneros on it, I knew I had found my place. I often cook at home with ghost and scorpion peppers, which are not traditionally found in restaurants, but they've done some pretty amazing improvisation when I've asked to make it work. One time, I recall getting the chilaquiles and asking for extra habaneros and asking if their chef had a secret hot sauce that was stronger than "white people spicy." Miriam brought me a little ramekin of a pepper sauce puree that the chef prepared - and it was EPIC. I don't ask for that every time, but you know whoever was on the line took the request seriously and actually had some fun making my mouth burn. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of their willingness to "play" in the kitchen. Today, I went for breakfast and ordered the Carne En Su Jugo for my first time. Not just here - first time ever eating it anywhere. I had totally forgotten to ask them to make it spicy! I asked Miriam if there was anything they could do to spice it up. She assured me they could. Then I received it. And I tasted it. And it was cathartic. The chefs prepared a PERFECTLY spicy stew, and I downed that whole thing in 7 minutes. It was delicious, put some sweat on my brow, and left me feeling more than satisfied with my meal. I love this place! Miriam is always great every time I've been there. I will continue supporting this business as long as they keep doing business. Please give my compliments to the chefs again. Their creativity keeps me coming back for spicy treats!

Also so many drink choices if you're looking for a michelada or mimosa. Cute vibes inside & love the plates and ceramics they use. It is small though so wouldn't really accommodate a large group easily, especially if it's busy. There is parking but even though it wasn't busy it was hard to find a spot. All that said, it was a very mid experience. The meat for the kids birria and the chilaquiles was more on the dry side. Same for the rice. The Grinch milkshake was good and cute. The tamarindo mimosa was good after we asked for extra tamarindo. Initially it was very heavy on the champagne. The country potatoes were yummy. The gingerbread pancakes were also dry & didn't taste like gingerbread. Also was sad that they were out of the advertised Holiday drinks: chocolate abuelita and atole de mazapán. I ordered the hot chocolate in its place but even though it looked cute, it tasted watery. I came here specifically for the Holiday items so that's why I was so disappointed with that. Service was okay. Our server was friendly when we interacted with her but it was very limited. Pretty much when she took our order & then when I flagged her down to return my pancakes & hot chocolate. She was very understanding though about that so I appreciated that. Overall, if they made adjustments to their flavor & quality it could be really good. From this visit I would say their Mexican food is better than their American food. I'd try again in the future, just not any time soon.

I love having breakfast at Bill's Cafe. Unfortunately, this location is not the same experience as the two other locations I've tried. The hostess told us they had no tables, and we could sit at the bar. My daughter stated she would rather be seated at a table, and we could wait. Three customers were walking past us, and the hostess said we could have their table. We were immediately seated in a booth, and we noticed there were at least five empty tables around us, peculiar. Whatever, we had time to look and decide what we each wanted. When our waiter came for our orders, he was quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and drinks to arrive. We generally liked our food, but the country potatoes were a little too firm, and seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. We had to wait awhile for refills on our drinks. We caught the hostess walking by, and asked if we could get refills and napkins. She said okay, but brought only napkins, and we waited some more for refills on coffee and water. The hostess seemed a bit brusque, on the other hand our waiter was, quick and professional. I will drive a little further to the Alameda location, because the Newbury location is not as great, or team conscious as the other location.
