    Cheese Fries
    Michael L.

Asked for cheese fries with extra cheese whiz and didn't get the extra cheese. In fact I barely got any cheese whiz at all. Was feeling adventurous and went with the meatball sando. Not very impressive. Not much flavor. doesn't any use salt anymore nowadays? Lol. I usually rave about this place. I guess next time I'll have to stick to what I normally get and double check that my special request for extra toppings is accounted for. I'll be back for a redemption meal soon.

I had not been to this location in a long while, but was excited to see them open when I did a drive by recently. I did a quick stop on way home from San Jose on way back to the East Bay. I had ordered a 7 inch Philly Mushrooms and Sweet peppers, another Reg. Philly and Cheese Fries to go. The food was made to order and it was super gooey and just the way I remember them pre pandemic. The cheese fries looked legit but did not have a chance to try them. A solid place if your in the South Bay and craving a Philly or some fries smothered in Cheese sauce.

Best cheesesteaks in the bay! i always get the cheesesteak with mushrooms and two cheeses, you gotta add that cheese whiz! i do wish there was more mushrooms. the bread is nice and soft and the fry portion was big! one of the staple best foods of san jose!

Overcooked (old?) fries and onion rings. Not bad, but could be better.

Please stop making the young Black man work by himself, especially on a Saturday night. I'm sure he's doing the best he can, but the food suffers. Meat's a little dry and the fries and onion rings were overcooked. We're long time customers and we'll continue to support. Just had to give this feedback.

Amato's was a major letdown. I have been craving a good Philly Cheesecake and I was excited to go to Amato's. I had Amato's years ago and I remember it being really good. Sadly, what I got not only didn't live up to my expectations, but it was made very poorly. For the cheese, I substituted Provolone cheese. What I got in my sandwich was very little cheese. It was darn near non-existent. The worst part, the meat was cold!!! Maybe I will give the original Saratoga Ave location a try again, but I am definitely not coming back to this Almaden location.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I absolutely loved the touchpad to order (makes customizing so much easier). The eatery itself is medium sized but plenty of space for a large party or sings dining. I am frequently in that plaza & foot traffic is pretty low. The workers said 1 word to me the entire time I was there (called my name for the order) so do with that what you will. I got a classic Philly, it did leave little to my imagination but the meat was fresh and so were the toppings. I'd go back to explore other menu items just based on the vast options, there's likely something for everyone.

This place is AMAZING! My son had never had a cheese steak and asked why he had never had one. He is now a fan. Friendly service. These owners are definitely Eagles fans. If you want to eat your tasty cheese steak surrounded by Philly stuff, this is the place. We will definitely be back.

Being from the suburbs outside of Philadelphia, I was really excited about trying this place out. However, I was sorely disappointed. The lady at the cash register was surly which kind of added to the Philadelphia experience, I suppose. I ordered the cheesesteak with whiz and my partner and I shared the onion rings. The onion rings were good but the cheesesteak was not what I had expected. The whiz was slapped on top of the meat and not mixed in so some bites had cheese while others didn't. The meat was dry and the bread was cold. I would rather drive into SF Marina for an authentic cheesesteak than to visit this place again. I would return for the onion rings but the cheesesteak is a pass for me.

Stopped here for lunch this past week. The staff inside were great. Engaged with the customers and made recommendations. For the meal we ordered the chicken Philly. With mushroom onion bellpepper with wiz. The food comes out hot made to order. It was nice seeing steam coming of a meal. My chicken Philly lacked a bit of flavor and was a bit on the bland side. The bread was nice warm and soft. The cheese fries were great, again nice and hot. I'll go in another day and try something different. I always hear great things about this place. Peace!

Veggie Works - doesn't look like much but very, very good!
    Michael S.

Such nice people. My son ordered from the wrong location so I started at the Saratoga Ave store closer to us before coming all the way down here to pick up. And then this location was out of eggs so they'd canceled the #33 Pepper & Egg which was for me and is my fave. Rather than go all the way back to Saratoga Ave where I started (where they had eggs), for another vegetarian option they suggested the Veggie Works. This sandwich isn't on the main menu but is on DoorDash and by request - and then they comped it which they totally didn't have to do because it was our mistake. The Veggie Works had all the fixins from their signature The Works sandwich but without the meat. Was amazing! Problem solved and crisis averted. Nice little place here too, with most of the tables filled with happy customers. Thank you Amato's Cheesesteaks on Almaden Rd!

The service was okay and the ambiance was your typical Italian deli offering wines, cheese, meats, etc. The ornamentation was of interest to view with a lot of football memorabilia. The pastrami sandwich lacked the smokiness and salty pepper. I thought the thousand island dressing was a bit funky but it did add flavor to the meat. The corned beef wasn't savory at all. Yes, both meats are similar, but both were extremely bland. The beef raviolis were a disappointment. Now I understand the highlight of a ravioli should be just that, but sorry, it was mush, not pillow like. There was no constancy. No chewing required. The sauce was not to my liking-it was like eating tomato sauce with sugar. To sweet! Sorry, La Villa, I prefer a more savory garlicky Italian herby flavor for my Italian palette.

I looked through it pretty thoroughly, and even one of the workers checked with us, but we couldn't find them. They gave us potatoes on the side, but after eating half of the burrito, we found that there were actually two small pieces of potato hiding at the bottom so I do think they should add more potatoes! The breakfast burger was good, although the patty was a little dry for my taste. The restaurant itself is pretty small but there was a decent amount of seating. It was pretty crowded when we came, but our food came out pretty quickly, about 15 minutes. The only downside is that I thought the prices were a little steep but everything is kind of expensive nowadays. Parking also kind of sucks in this small lot. It is one of the pricier burger options around, but you can literally customize your burger to your hearts content (or other sandwich type). We have had their burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken tenders and a salad - kale quinoa. Quality of ingredients - really high, really delicious meat. Lettuce and ingredients in salad were fresh, and plentiful. Portion size - a large fry or a large onion ring feeds my whole family - when it says large, it is large.I did not trust the first time and ended up with WAY more fries than we needed. But fun fact - these reheat really well! Some do not, these are great the next day in the air fryer (same as onion rings) The only disappointing item for my son was the chicken tenders, they were very small and mostly breading. Kind of felt like we had the last remnants of a batch. Good flavor overall, just not a lot of chicken and overall this was the smallest portion size, even for a kid size.
