Once again, if you're going to charge me $15 for a sandwich, at least put more than 50 cents worth of meat on it. Also, when I ask for mustard, please put it on the entire piece of bread, not just a few dots? I had to take the meat from one half of the sandwich, and put it on the other half, to make a decent sandwich. So $15 for a half sandwich. The tables outsid were filthy. I asked the person inside if they could wipe down the table. She said they were really busy and it might be a few minutes. Luckily I grapped a few extra napkins and put water from my bottle on the napkins and cleaned the table myself. The napkin came up black. I was super excited to try this place! They packed the sandwich up with a lot of meat and filling. It was a hefty $20 sandwich. I got the hot pastrami and I thought it was a little too salty for me. I might have waited too long because my bread got soggy. My friend got the hot beef sandwich with au jus and it was so delicious. Ordered 4 off GrubHub and the sandwiches were nice and fresh $14 each. I did the regular house spread and regular mustard but there was choice of spicy mustard. My favorite was the cold pastrami sandwich, second the turkey and last the chicken pesto was not that great. I didn't like that the chicken breast was just sliced deli meat. I thought I'd done a review, but here it goes again. I think Crust has possibilities, but no one knows how to wrap a sandwich, or that they should wrap a sandwich for delivery. I had two sandwiches put in little half baggies and the sandwiches had fallen out by the time I opened delivery bag. I would like to try it again, and see if things have improved. One of my favorite sandwich spots in SJ that just hits the spot no matter what location you are in. The sourdough bread never misses and their sandwiches are so consistent in quality. This location is a bit odd due to them being located in a business building or corporate part of San Jose. I can see it being very confusing for people who don't know the area too well. They have indoor and outdoor seating for decent sized groups. For sandwiches I've got the pastrami, Italian and club. All amazing sandwiches and the sourdough bread just hits the spot. This place is a bit off the beaten path in a more work and business zoned area. But I have to say that their sourdough does live up to the hype. It was a nice tough that the bread was slightly warm even if you get a cold sandwich. Overall, pretty good sandwich and it was nice that they have pickles and pepperoncinis bagged and ready for you to add to your sandwich in your own. The servers made the sandwich by hand and quickly so it was not long of a wait. The vibe of this place was very much a quiet lunch time spot that has a lot of seating and even working seating so it seems available in the back. I was pretty happy with my meal from crust. It was very conveniently located, near my office, and I suppose you pay for the convenience because a single sandwich is anywhere from $12-$17. The staff were really friendly, and the person who took my order, had some great suggestions. I ended up getting the spicy turkey with spicy mayo and spread. I also did a yelp check in, for which I got a free cookie! The sandwiches themselves are fresh and well made, with a good amount of veggies. However, I felt like the meat was a bit lacking, especially looking at the bread to meet ratio. Perhaps some of the photos on yelp that I saw, had a double portion of meat, and maybe that's why my expectations were higher. YO. This spot is it. Hidden gem in the business district of San Jose. Not really an eat in place but there are seats. It's more an order to go spot with quick and pleasant staff. We used to eat here at least once a week but the hot pastrami sandwich has steadily gone downhill and my husband asked me not to get it for him anymore. The bread, cheese and sauce are great but the pastrami has gotten progressive less meaty and more stringy and tough. Here's the deal. I know that typically I don't give 5 stars out the gate but it's kind of impossible that I didn't this time around. Last week I was tasked with finding lunch for a party of 40 for the following Monday. Not to mention it needed to fall within our per diem. So naturally I jumped on here because it needed to be a tad more fancier this time around because this was a meeting that was at an Executive Level. This place was not only close but they offered quite an array of delicious sandwich options. The kicker was they offered a sandwich box with a pickle spear and your choice of a cookie or chips. To make it easier on us I ordered 20 oven roasted turkey, 12 ham, 6 super veggie and then there were 2 special order sandwiches. I opted to get all of them with a chocolate chip cookie. Since I wanted it delivered I chose that option and to my delight they use EzCater which charges a flat $20 fee. Each sandwich box was $14.99. Plus tax and the delivery fee it came out to $16.89pp which is well under my allotted $18 per person per diem. I scheduled the delivery for 11:30 on Monday. Sunday I received word that I needed to add a few more sandwiches. I logged on and was pleased to see my cut off time to make changes to my order was 9:00PM. Life saver! The delivery came at 11:10. The person even helped stack them on the table. Everyone asked where we ordered lunch from. We were pleasantly surprised that we were served a full sized sandwich and it was filled with so much meat and veggies. That spicy spread (that I had them pack on the side) was delicious! That's a must! I like how in the box came a napkin, and individually packed mayo and mustard. The pickle spear was so yummy and had a nice crunch. I've been asked to keep this place in mind for our next in-office luncheon. Most people didn't even realize this place existed let alone that it was so close to the office. The man at the counter was friendly and I only waited about 5 minutes for my food to be ready - so quick! They also had a Yelp check-in offer for 1 free cookie with a sandwich purchase, so I chose a Lemon Cooler Cookie. The sandwich was phenomenal - the sourdough had the perfect crunch on the outside, the spicy spread was delicious, and all the ingredients tasted great. I don't know how I finished the entire thing because it was large and SO filling, but I demolished it.
