This florist was recommended by the funeral home that was taking care of my friend's services. As I had just learned of the death I was a mess and had to order an arrangement over the phone. The lady taking the order was very kind and helpful in figuring out what kind of arrangement to send and what the card should say. She was patient with my grief and said it would be a suitable arrangement for a man and lovely colors. I was so worried the arrangement would look hideous or not arrive in time as it was late Friday when I ordered it and the service was Saturday afternoon. Their selection was beautiful and full and certainly looked like it was far more expensive. It was actually perfect as the sunflowers they selected were a reflection of our lost friend. Wonderful shop to use during times of sorrow and grief as they are very sensitive and compassionate. I called The Flower Box to order flowers for my sister's funeral and I specifically wanted 2 dozen yellow roses. The gentleman who answered my phone call was a bit hesitant regarding the quantity of yellow roses but responded "if we don't have 2 dozen here, I will find them in time for your sister's service." The variety, special pricing (on plants) and beautiful arrangements, ready in a jiffy, make Fryetag's a go-to for the simple to the special occasion. Online they need to correct the "Under $50" section in the Pick Your Price. They now know about this and I am confident will make the necessary communication fixes. I sent a simple bouquet to my mom for her birthday. After reading some awfully negative reviews for other florists in my neighborhood, I decided to go with these guys because 1) you can order off their website 2) they delivery charge ($10) was a little cheaper than others and 3) I had been to their store before, though it was a long time ago and I liked their offerings I'm impressed with the fact that I never had to speak to anyone. Let me start by saying I only have 1 star because there is no option to give 0 stars. My sister and I visited this location today after being referred by the funeral home that is providing services for my nephew. When we first arrived, an employee looked at us and the walked into an office, where she proceeded to ignore us. After approximately 10 minutes, I approached the desk and asked her if there was someone that could help us. The woman that came to the front was beyond rude and so inconsiderate. After explaining what we were looking for and why, and letting her know that we had no idea where to begin, she threw a book at us and left us to fend for ourselves. She never returned to the front of the store to offer assistance. My sister and I ended up leaving without ordering flowers and feeling completely defeated. To the people running this location, please train your employees on proper etiquette- especially when dealing with the families who have recently lost a loved one and cannot handle any more of a burden being placed onto them. read more

I browsed Freytag's website and saw reasonable prices, so I gave them a call to make sure they had the flowers I wanted, then drove up there later that day to purchase them. The in-store prices were not just reasonable, but incredible, so instead of just purchasing the one or two flowers I had intended to get, I ended up buying an entire dozen! It's my mom's birthday. I cannot express enough how much care and genuine kindness went into the 3 bouquets I just bought for her from Freitag's. One daughter lives in Connecticut; the other, Hawaii. Mom will get a gorgeous bouquet from each of us now, with no hassle and no giant delivery fee. Everything is fresh and perfect. This florist deserves every bit of business we can all put into AUSTIN. This is probably the best florist in the Austin area. When I order for my wife and mother-in-law it comes fully assembled, arrive on the day it is scheduled, and are very beautiful. When I send flowers to my my parents who are out of town the florist they partner with are just as good. I just ordered a flower arrangement to be delivered tomorrow. Now I always order flowers at least 2 weeks early. I found out that the person came back to town early so i tried to order flowers for next day. If the flowers make it without an issue tomorrow I am going to raise the star rating to 5 star rating. We will see if it all works out and if I raise my rating. :) read more

It's rare that you run into a company that seems like it just couldn't be better... but Freytags is it! I've been a Freytag's customer since the eighties, and for some reason I drifted away awhile back and tried a whole litany of other florists. All of them disappointed me - their arrangements were nowhere near the size, quality or design of Freytag's. Then I rediscovered Freytag's about 2 years ago, and Wow! I realized what I'd been missing. Their delivery is on time, every time, and their roses are huge and long stemmed. Florists deal in a living product though, and so there will be times when perhaps some flowers aren't as fresh or as long-lived as they should be. The one time I had an issue with this - I'd had a dozen roses delivered to my girlfriend for her birthday, and they were wilting and dying after three days - Chad Freytag sent out another dozen and had them delivered to her with an apology, without me even asking them to. THAT'S customer service, folks! I promise, I'll never stray again - I'm a Freytag's customer for life. read more

Wonderful customer service! My boyfriend surprised me with a beautiful arrangement of flowers designed by Freytag's, but forgot that I had moved location at work. Unfortunately, the driver, Larry, and I were both playing phone tag trying to make the delivery. First call was to confirm the new work address. Unfortunately, I myself even gave him the wrong (street number) address so he had to call back to clarify. Third call was because I had reassured him that there will be a front desk receptionist to buzz him in but they were both out to lunch upon his arrival. However, Larry was incredibly understanding and patient overall. He even said to me at the end of the phone call, "Don't worry. We'll get your flowers delivered to you," with a comforting smile. Absolutely beautiful flowers! I called to order an arrangement for my Uncle's funeral this week. First of all, the lady that helped me on the phone was so kind and really listened to what I wanted and was very conscious of making sure she stayed within the price range I gave her. I told her I wanted something that was unique, happy and bright and spring flowers. The flower arrangement turned out absolutely beautiful. Everyone commented on how beautiful they were. I am very picky about flower arrangements and was very happy when I saw them. I am not from the Austin area so I did not know anything about them but they came highly recommended by the funeral home. The flowers were fresh, colors were bright and vibrant just as I asked. Also, for the amount of flowers I received in the arrangement I feel like they were very reasonably priced. My husband doesn't get me flowers very often because frankly I tend to forget I have them. However, he ordered a delivery from Freytag's that was the most beautiful flower arrangement I've ever received. It lasted a full two weeks and every couple of days a different lily opened. It started out with half the blooms open and then literally by the end of two weeks, the very last lily had opened. For once I was very diligent about keeping the water fresh and I was fascinated with the various stages of opening blooms. I've never had an arrangement last that long. I have used many online and local Florists in the past. Like most consumers I have used both large big-box retailers and the occasional "Mom and Pop" smaller florists. The staff at Freytag's Florist has always been very polite and extremely helpful when I needed them. Orders can be expedited to ensure same-day delivery in most cases. Recently I purchased a large Stargazer bouquet for my wife, which is one of her most favorite flowers. In addition to Stargazers being eloquently beautiful, typically they have a fairly long shelf-life once pruned and arranged into a bouquet. This time, unfortunately, the Stargazers only lasted 1-2 days. This was disappointing, as we usually rely on their longer shelf-life to enjoy them for many days. A few days after my purchase, I received an email asking to provide feedback on my order. Answering a "Customer Feedback Survey" sometimes can be viewed as tedious or even an inconvenience. The company where I work believes with great conviction the absolute necessity to provide Fanatical Support to all our customers and we understand that customer feedback is essential to continually improve our processes. Almost immediately after responding to the survey, I was contacted directly by the owner of Freytag's expressing a sincere apology along with an offer to replace the order. Of course, I could not accept, as this was not something within their control. However, I greatly appreciated the offer and was very impressed with their willingness to serve their customer. Freytag's level of customer service is far above and beyond what I have ever received from other florists and certainly something you would almost never receive from a big-box retailer.
