The shrimp and it was really good flavored well with a perfect amount of cheese. It came with about five juicy shrimp cooked to perfection with green onions and a nice little seasoning sauce that they put on top to bring it all together. I tried the bourbon iced latte, it was just OK for all of us. Stopped in with some friends for a sweet treat! Tried the honey bee cake- it was dense but moist! A great combo and paired with the cream filling was amazing. The carrot cake was unique- definitely didn't expect the texture it has but I was happy with it! It's a very light desert. We went on a warm afternoon when it wasn't too busy and looking for a quick sweet treat. Since it's directly on 6th be mindful of parking since that may be an issue, just as a heads up. There's a good assortment of pastries to choose from and we settled on a chocolate birthday cake macaroon and one of their chocolate hearts. The workers seem very happy and friendly but they did take a while to work through the line and also get our stuff ready to go. Once we got our things we ended up taking it to go but ate it within a few minutes of stepping out. The chocolate birthday cake macaroon was good, but not stellar. It does a good job as tasting as it would be advertised, but it wasn't anything we felt you couldn't get at another bakery. Similarly, the chocolate heart was good, but not as good as you would expect for something coming out of a place dedicated to baking. That might seem a bit harsh, but let us clarify that their baked goods are much better than store bought, just not as good as we had hoped them to be. We will definitely be back if in the area to give them another shot, hopefully for brunch so we can try out some more of their other options as well. read more

Their version of avocado toast is pretty good with the pickled onions, adding nice pop-up color and crunch and tartness. The Cortado was also very good. We've been going a bit more in the past year or so because the choices downtown are pretty thin, and the sandwiches at Whole Foods are not worth what they're asking. I haven't had a sandwich at Walton's that I didn't like yet. There's usually a blue plate special if you look around on the counter to see what extra they might have. Their desserts are excellent, so if you need extra temptation, cruise the sweets cabinet while you're standing in line. Speaking of the line, you can't casually go to Walton's and expect them to hand you a sandwich in the time you might expect a Thundercloud to execute. The line can get pretty long, and the longer it is, the slower it goes. This is most true in the 11:50-12:30 window. We've shown up and walked up to order, and we've shown up to a line on the sidewalk. Don't get me wrong, your lunch will be worth waiting for, if you have the time. They have online ordering if that helps. Eating onsite is fine, but if there's 5 or more, space can get tight. read more

I have not been back to Walton's since 2022 and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they now have chicken sausage on their breakfast menu! I ordered a biscuit sandwich with of course, chicken sausage and it was made with a herb aioli that was surprisingly good. My husband chose the eggs Benedict and enjoyed it. I love that your food is not just made to order, but lovingly, made it order. I couldn't help but notice the presentations of each dish and I really appreciated the attention to detail to each plate. Waltons is also one of the very few places you can get a good sandwich or salad without breaking the bank. My sister lives in Austin took us here for brunch and it was not disappointing just like the owner (American sweetheart, Sandra Bullocks). The moment you walk into the establishment, you just felt relaxation right away, no need to rush or anything (even though it can be crazily packed on the weekend). This place is right across the street from the Canopy hotel and serves a display case of various baked goods from macarons to brownie bars, mini tartlets, croissants, cookies and everything your pastry eyes can muster. The tippy bar had interesting flavors, I can't say I'm a huge fan given how deafeningly sweet and dense it is but the coconut does break up the one sweet tone and symbiotic texture. I would want to try my hand at their salty oat cookie next time and feed that sweet, savory and chewy side of me we so desperately miss. The grits are very very mushy and creamy. It's got a mild flavor but does get the grits fix fixin'. The potato hash was a last minute add on, let's just say our ears were hungrier than our stomachs. It was perhaps the least appetizing out of all 5 dishes. Cause we starving. The biscuit and egg was yummy but also, again, very equal texture throughout. It wasn't the usual flaky dense biscuit I was used to but a more fluffy and secure, hold-together top and bottom bun. It holds up quiet nicely to what's sandwiched in between. Lastly we have the star of the order- avocado toast with the softest boiled egg that somehow holds its gorgeous shape after being peeled. I don't know how they did this, but it is so soft and so round, so runny and so sesame-seedy. The hot sauce and sesame seeds gives the toast an Asian flair without trying. Nothing here by the way really requires a knife. But it may be less messy if you use one. To be perfectly honest though the egg was too watery for my liking. I could jiggle chunks of whites out as the yolk disappears into the rest of this avocado jiżżum. Super friendly and smiley service though. I wish everyone was this wonderful everywhere! read more

This was not a pleasant experience. I had watched a TV special about Walton's and heard the owner speak, which made it sound like a place I would really enjoy visiting with my daughter. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we arrived, there was not much of a crowd. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant at first. However, as soon as my daughter set our belongings on a table we had chosen, an employee immediately approached and harshly questioned whether we could not see that the table was being cleaned. We were unaware of this. She then told my daughter to move our things. At the time, I was still at the counter ordering. My daughter moved our belongings to a nearby high-top table, and the employee followed up with a sarcastic comment asking, "Are you going to get that dirty too?" When I joined my daughter, I could tell by her expression that something upsetting had occurred. The same employee returned and continued to speak to us in a very rude and hostile manner, clearly more focused on wiping tables than treating customers with basic courtesy. I understand that employees have tasks to do, but customer service should come first. This interaction felt unnecessary, disrespectful, and unwelcoming. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. This occurred on January 19, 2026, between approximately 2:45-3:00 PM. Management may want to address this employee's behavior and provide additional training on professionalism and customer interaction. Having a bad day is not an excuse to treat paying customers poorly. Sadly, this experience ensured that we will not be returning. read more

I was surprised to find out that there is a brunch spot tucked in-between all the bars and clubs of West 6th. They really nailed down the aesthetic with a quaint, rustic vibe that's perfect for a midday meal with a partner or friends. The place make look small at first, but if you enter through a little hallway in the back, there's quite a bit more seating! We ended up ordering the Breakfast Tacos (Meat) and the Challah French Toast, alongside a Caramel Latte. The flour tortillas for the tacos were crisp, and the tacos themselves surprisingly didn't feel too heavy despite the ingredients (potatoes, cheese, sausage, egg). It also comes with a refreshing green salsa. I will say that some bites felt a bit oversalted. The French toast was very well done. Toast had great crisp and all the ingredients made for a delicious toast that was sweet (but not too sweet). I'll have to come by here again, maybe for lunch, and try some other items. I noticed Walton's Fancy and Staple since it was right across from our hotel, so when it came up in my search for breakfast options I decided to check it out with Nate. I didn't know Sandra Bullock had a restaurant in Austin, but apparently she owns this place. It's a cute historic building that houses a cafe/coffee shop, flower shop, and gift store. Walking in I was a bit overwhelmed with the large menu boards and delicious-looking pastry case, but I knew that I needed something on the healthier side after our first day of eating and drinking in Austin. The farm salad sounded so good: Arugula and herb salad, soft boil egg, bacon, pickled onion, avocado and sesame seed mix with lemon vinaigrette. Nate got the veggie breakfast tacos, with scrambled egg, mushroom, onion, red bell pepper and Cheddar cheese on a flour tortilla. They have lots of great options for breakfast/brunch and lunch from savory to sweet, healthy to rich. I honestly would try everything on the menu here so it's kind of sad we only got to stop in once! Our food came out quickly and looked so good. The salad was a generous size with high quality ingredients. The bacon was thick cut and perfectly crispy! I loved the soft boiled eggs and the chili oil gave it a spicy kick, which I really enjoyed. This salad was exactly what I needed. Nate liked his breakfast tacos.
