I love a British pub; they are so lively and welcoming. This particular pub is incredibly spacious. They have a stage for their live music events, plenty of seating, a large bar area, and calendars on each table noting their different upcoming events. It seems like they are a very fun pub - they have trivia, open mic, bingo and so much more. There is also a small British market inside. I just came for a drink and a snack. I ordered the Sausage Roll, which an English sausage wrapped in baked puff pastry. It was crispy and delicious - I could have had a few of those. About 4 stars. read more

Been in a few times now, they're alright with a few misgivings. Fish & chips were awesome, especially with that scrummy tartar sauce even if the chips were soggy. Mushy peas and slaw, not so much; shouldn't have went fully monty with the upcharges. Just the same, made that bland slaw right as rain with a few hits of Sarsons and salt and pepper (I think it was undressed). Anyway, who's complaining with nice cold Guinness?! It's a fun local place, and they have games planned throughout the week. The restaurant is a good sized and when we went there on a Thursday night, there was a trivia group playing. Our server was friendly and overall we had a good experience with the staff. The food however, didn't really impress us. We ordered the fish and chips and scotch eggs. The scotch eggs didn't seem very fresh and were quite hard on the outside. It was my first time trying them so I wasn't sure what to expect, but after looking them up online, ours looked much more over crispy than they should be. My wife and I stopped in with family while visiting in the area. We were looking for someplace different and I certainly was having a hankering for fish and chips. So happy we stopped here! Fairly large and well kept restaurant, they were setting up for their Thursday night trivia. We sat in front of a large television that was playing a cricket game. We opened with adult beverages. Was so very happy that they had Magners cider. My wife ordered a chocolate espresso martini while my sister-in-law's friend ordered an old speckled hen. Two of us ordered the cod while my wife ordered a tomato basil bisque and a sausage roll. And our other ordered the chicken curry pie. All was delicious and authentic! What a lovely experience! My husband has been dying for some British food (his home country) lately and since we were at Legoland-it was the perfect stop before we went back to Orlando! Service was wonderful and so attentive! The restaurant had so much space and lots of seating! But also a great little bar area, live music and a pool table/darts! Food was delicious as expected and I Loved the homemade tartar sauce! The dill was the perfect touch in it!! We also loved the little British Shop attached! We visited on a Dueling pianos night-THOSE need help, mostly to stay on beat and learn to transpose music into their own vocal range. Absolutely felt like nails on a chalkboard listening to the butchering of good songs by not being able to keep beat and screeching instead of properly singing. That being said- the FOOD here is fantastic. We all enjoyed our meals greatly. The Cottage pie was full bodied, with great potatoes barely toasted and served piping hot. The Cornish pasty was a bit overfilled, but did not have a soggy bottom crust and was also quite flavorful. The fish and chips was a good portion size, and quite tasty according to the person who ordered. The English shop was closed when we arrived, it only stays open to about 8, but I did see some things there that I hadn't seen otherwise. Our server was friendly, prompt, and personable, even giving us her favorite dessert recommendation. Definitely going to be back! read more

Party of 8 on a Saturday night, restaurant was 1/4 full one Waitress. I had this big review I was planning to type but let's just get to the point. Start to finish was 2 hours. Food was a solid 5/10. I am surprised this Restaurant is still open. Hire some staff please. I doubt we'll go back. 2 People start the same business at the same time. One creates a legacy one creates a job, I think this Restaurant is the latter. I hope to hear through the grapevine that this restaurant has turned around at some point in the future. read more

Al way had a little Love/Hate with Friar Tuck. But location often won out to meet a friend for a quick drink, but normally not food. Now under new ownership, I went back for dinner. Started with a house salad. Nothing really special, but works. So....actually I'm a sucker for shredded lettuce! That and a good Blue Cheese and I'm happy! Followed by the Cottage Pie. Presentation is a five! Being picky the mash on top looks great, but are a little over done and dry. However, not bad. read more

Cute little British pub. My husband and I dropped in one evening when I was craving fish & chips. We didn't realize that they have so much fun events but we instantly were so excited about the schedule of events displayed when we came in. We definitely want to come for a trivia night, it seems like it would be such a fun place to attend an event. The service was pretty slow considering there was such a small number of people in the restaurant. I got fish & chips obviously and my husband ordered a ham and cheese toastie. He liked his sandwich! My fish was HUGE and tasty but I was disappointed with the thickness and sogginess of the batter on the bottom. It fell apart so bad while I was eating so I ended up having to scoop it up with a fork to eat it. We really want to come back for Sunday roast now that we know it's a thing. read more

The people are great!! I really enjoy them. The service however was amazingly horrible. I literally sat in a dining room with 4 other sat tables. Four servers walked past me multiple times. I couldn't even get a glass of water none of them stopped despite me looking parched, starved, and longing for attention. I finally moved to the completely empty bar and had to wave down the hostess that originally sat me. I wanted Scott eggs and a Donner kabob. They didn't have either!!! Wth!! Frustration on top of frustration. Settled for a sausage roll which turned out to be a reheated frozen version. It was just ok. Ordered the fish and chips with a side of curry sauce for my fries. Sadly the curry sauce was the best part!! The fish was good size and the top half was crispy and delicious. The bottom half seemed to have been set IN grease to drain as opposed to on a rack for the grease to drain of. It sat on top of the greasy AF limp chips (French fries). When finally asked if everything was ok, I asked for the fries to be fried crisp, like a chip should be. He said the deep fryers were off and mine was literally the last order they cooked. Frankly, it should have never been sold. I tried to order a dessert to go and was told the kitchen was closed. It never even dawned on him to let me know the kitchen was going to close and ask if I wanted anything else. Extremely disappointing visit. My wife and I had been going here for the last few years (we're snowbirds) and were overwhelmed by the huge fish portion. We returned this year and were very disappointed. The fish portion shrunk to about half its previous size. It was good but no longer "legendary" as stated on the menu. Probably won't be coming back. Word must be out because there used to be lines to get in but at 6pm on a Friday the place was pretty much empty. Too bad. read more

This place is cute! Found it in my Yelp searches for food nearby our resort. This place popped up so we headed out. About a 15 minute drive from Mystic Dunes. It's located in a shopping and dining plaza where there is street parking as well as lot parking behind the building. The place wasn't busy at all and we were greeted upon entering. The owner was the only one working the front and he was doing a great job. Very apologetic about wait times due to him being the only one however service was great so no need to apologize. Breakfast is served until around noon. I got the corned beef hash which comes with eggs and toast. Hubs got the Lil Friar which I didn't snap a pic of. I loved my breakfast! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash was delicious! They do serve tea in a porcelain tea pot and tea cups which why wouldn't they right!? I didn't know until after I saw others with them on their table. They also have a small British store attached that sells goodies. Come support local and give this place a try. Both times Ive been here the food was pretty bad. But it could be my expectations of what I think food should taste like because the people all around me seems to really be enjoying their meals. I go with friends so it's the company I enjoy. Both times there has been entertainment there. Yesterday it was the Beatles. The group sounded very much like the Beatles too. So I had a grilled chicken with caramelized onions and melted Brie sandwich, but without the bread. Except for it not being a chicken breast ( it was more like chopped up chicken cooked to over death) but the taste was ok. The fries a little more wilted than I like. My friend had the beef cheddar sandwich which she told me didn't taste like beef. Their claim is authentic British food but I've been to England and the food I experienced everywhere was super delicious. I don't know but maybe this place is authentic British food from back alley grub pubs 30 years ago I really appreciate local small business Restaurants and will seek out to support whenever I can. I will keep coming here and keep sampling the menu because it is a fun place. I thank the owner for taking the time to read and answer this review. My family and I frequent this little gem of a place often. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and server Walt feels like an old friend. We definitely recommend the mushroom appetizers, definitely the fish and chips (which is a HUGE portion by the way), and if you can fit anything else into your tummy they have this delicious dessert called the Biscoff Bomb and it is DIVINE!!! It is a Buttery pastry, fried with cookie butter Biscoff filling, and then on the side was vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate. YOU. MUST. TRY. THIS!!!! Also, I have no idea how they make tarter sauce, but if I could buy it in a bottle, I absolutely would. My family and I drive over 45 minutes to eat here and it is worth it. I can not believe I haven't written a review yet. We have been so many times. It's our go to whenever we are I. The area. We live breakfast and lunch there. One day I will be there late enough to enjoy some live music. We are always three generations when we go and everyone e boys it. The service is always fantastic. Even when w he's e been there and they are short staffed they help each other out and check on each others tables and alway make sure you have a full cup and full belly. This time we had fish and chips(so good we have to order it) make sure to order a side of curry sauce to dip those chips in. It's amazing. My one sone found the bacon butty sandwich it's his new favorite he ate two. This time we didn't have it but the Sunday roast and the lamb are phenomenal as well and a HUGE amount of food for a fantastic price. You have to ask which they have as they alternate between the two. Breakfast is great as well. There is also a great little shop in the there to but lots of British tummy to bring home. I like this place because it is convenient. Their food is okay. I have had the turkey club which was great. We have also had the fish and chips. The fish is enormous. It was greasy and not terribly flavorful, which I expect with British cuisine. Drink prices are okay. The best deal is the beer bucket. Good to get during trivia or music bingo. I was told to go here because they had a great Reuben sandwich. Well it wasn't, not much on it very dry & bread very hard & crunchy. I liked the potato salad. My parents had fish & chips. Fish was excellent but the fries so undercooked & greasy. I guess my sister told them we wanted extra crispy fries & the waitress responded well we will try (but obviously did not at all!). Waitress was very subpar & for no busier than they were took forever to get our food. I guess it takes awhile to not get fries crispy! Doubt I'll be back! read more

VERY VERY SAD.... went here May 1st and about 12 people waiting to get in at Noon. Nobody inside, doors locked. we all waited until 12:20pm but dispite banging on the door several times NO ONE opened. From their website notation, seems they open when they feel like it. Definitely not good to grow loyal customers. Every one left and went 4 miles south on 27 to another British Pub, called Best of British Cafe and had a great time. unfortunately, The Friar Tuck is very unreliable on opening times. Looking through the windows, Their grocery section was empty. Are they going out of business? I would suggest calling before wasting your time going here. read more

I miss what this restaurant used to be, but the new owners are extremely unprofessional people who can't take a simple comment about an item without blocking the person. The standard has dropped dramatically since our last visit. The fish and chips were not good. The chips were burnt and not many of them, then the fish, which used to be thick cuts of cod, were questionable, and well overcooked in oil that was beyond requiring changing. The fish was razor thin, plus could not be separated from the batter due to overlooking. For $20 each, it was not worth anything close to that, and Culver's, nearby, a fast food restaurant, cooks much better fish and chips, albeit smaller portions, but center cut cod loins, all of which is delightfully edible. Let's start on a positive note. The service here has greatly improved since our last visit a couple years back when we were basically ignored and ended up leaving after ten minutes. Amy, our server, was friendly and attentive. She and the other young man helping out had their hands full with a fairly busy dining room during our visit. Unfortunately, there seemed to be issues in the kitchen because the food quality was subpar. We had to send back our mushroom appetizer that was still raw in the middle. We also noticed the table next to us also sent back a dish. Our fish and chips were just okay albeit greasy and a tad overdone. The accompanying curry sauce looked like it originally came out of a packet in powder form and mixed with water. My son twice asked for ranch dressing and was given tartar sauce both times. The server said the kitchen insisted it was ranch dressing. Ummm...no...it was definitely tartar sauce. Overall, we won't be in any hurry to go back. read more

Jumping into my time machine I was transported back to the days of Robin Hood and his merry mates. When you walk in you will be instantly transported to a medieval dining hall. We ordered the fish and chips, I must say when it showed up, I felt as if I had robbed the owner. IT WAS HUGE. So much food you could feed a family of 20. Then to top it all off, we asked if they still had the pumpkin pastry, which they did not, but fear not they actually went into the kitchen and whipped up some. This was our first experience stopping in for a late lunch just after 2pm. They had a sign posted out front that they were out of Sunday roast. We were seated and it took a while for a server to come over, she took our drink order and took quite a while to return with 3 ice waters. They have iced tea out of a machine, not brewed so that was disappointing. We ordered Scotch Eggs as an appetizer and after returning to the kitchen to put in our order the server returned to let us know they were out. Entrees we ordered included Fish & Chips ($5.99 - kids menu portion), battered sausage served with chips (fries) ($7.99) and chicken pot pie served with chips(fries) ($12.95). The battered sausage were crisp and had a nice flavor. The chips (fries) are thick and very tasty but they were served cold. Not sure how that happened as the plates were hot. The Chicken Pot pie had nice crust, top and bottom but the inside was quite bland. The fish and chips were very good and the kids portion was ample enough for an adult. Service was not very attentive and we overheard the server share with the table behind us that they were out of even more things. Maybe it would be better to have their menu written on a dry erase or chalk board so they could update it throughout the day. We will give them a second chance. read more
