Afterwards I got the tomato fettuccine ($34) and it was brought out in another 20ish mins. The pasta was freshly made and did taste good. The seafood tasted a bit whatever surprisingly. Two of the mussels tasted extremely fishy compared to the others. Scallops and lobster were also just meh compared to the other seafood restaurants in the area. We attended a friend's milestone birthday dinner this weekend with a party of 12. Upon arrival, we were informed that another reservation was booked for our table two hours later and that we should "keep this in mind." As we were finishing dessert, the waiter reminded us that the next party was waiting for us to leave. In more than 20 years working in hospitality, I have never seen a restaurant impose a two-hour limit on a 12-top -- particularly one spending at least $150 per person. Large celebrations are not quick-turn tables. They are experiences people choose restaurants specifically to enjoy. What makes this more frustrating is that the host of the dinner was never informed of this policy when booking the reservation. Had she been told upfront that the evening would operate on a countdown clock, we would have chosen another restaurant better equipped to accommodate a milestone celebration. There is a difference between managing reservations and making paying guests feel unwelcome. We will not be returning. read more

my friend and I came here tuesday night and the hostess was also our waitress and was so accommodating! she really helped guide us through the menu and said that she even comes there to eat on her days off! Very impressive start. we ordered the kale salad, butternut squash ravioli and sausage rigatoni oh and ofc the complimentary SD bread with pepper spread & oil-- we thought every item we ordered was fab! The kale salad was rich with fresh ingredients, loved the crunch with the dressing ... please share your dressing ingredients for that cider vinaigrette... and the only caveat for me was the sausage was pretty heavy and I couldn't eat it all BUT the portion sizes are worth the pricing. Also, our waitress split our salad into two plates which was also so nice. really great service, so many menu options (I found it really hard to decide which is not a bad problem to have) and food was solid! would def recommend when visiting mystic! read more

We are local and have been going to Bravo for 20/30 years on and off. During this dinner visit at 5pm on a Saturday night we were told of a one hour 40 minute time limit on our table after receiving drinks and not being ready to order food a few minutes later. Felt like a 'no loitering. sign was put I front of us. Isn't the point of dinner with friends to relax? (We did complete our dinner with time to spare). Considering the clock was ticking, we didn't see any rush by them to get us our food. We left a solid 20% tip regardless but doubt we will return of refer this place any time soon. Great place in Mystic, among a street with many other choices. The restaurant has a parking lot, is fairly modern and cozy inside. The bar area was a big hit on a Tuesday with a full crowd eating and drinking there. Several tables were full too. I attended on a business dinner, but it's certainly family oriented too. Service was good. We did wait a while for the bread, which comes out fresh. We also didn't have entree orders taken until after we started eating our appetizers. This could all be intended, so speak up if you're in more of a hurry. Their house Manhattan cocktail was good. Nice size pour and strong! Wine was great as well. All food was excellent too. The burrata appetizer was probably my last favorite as it only had half a burrata ball. Not much to share. The clams oreganata special was good - actual clams within each shell and bite...vs some places where you only taste breadcrumbs. The artichoke salad was excellent too. Really tasty! Cioppino was an amazingly flavorful spicy broth with seafood. If you like cioppino, get it here. The tomato fettuccine was nicely balanced with seafoods, including shelled lobster, though very creamy. If you're not into creamy sauces, get something else. Steaks were cooked to order, medium rare. Dessert was good too, but be aware that their affogato isn't a traditional one. They don't give you espresso to pour on top. They're just an espresso cream at the bottom, under ice cream. Overall, really nice place, experience and everyone was happy! Seafood lovers, meat lovers, and one vegetarian who raved about the roasted eggplant dish. read more

My boyfriend and I had our Valentine's Day dinner here last night; it was delicious. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived (we were early) so we went to the bar for a drink. The bartender was attentive and made us two delicious martinis. The place itself is very pretty and cozy; it's got an upbeat, swanky vibe. We were seated at a cozy, corner four top table which was nice and gave us extra room. For dinner we had the meatballs, baked clams, rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe and homemade tomato fettuccine with mussels, scallops and lobster. Phenomenal experience- will definitely be back. I took one star away because my wine glass was very small and I prefer a large glass when drinking red wine. read more

We've been coming here for years. And tonight reinforced why. Our dinner was just perfect! A nice corner window table and our waitress which we recognized from many years of service. Bravo Bravo is across the street from our hotel- the Whaler's Inn. it's a handsome restaurant with a very active bar. We ordered short ribs and a special- a lamb burger. I found out the lamb burger was served with a side of spicy fries which were delicious. But the menu mentions nothing about this. Both dishes were well prepared, presented, and delicious. There are many good choices of wines by the glass. My "Super Tuscan Red" was wonderful and a perfect pairing to my short ribs. The place does get a little noisy when crowded. Best dining experience we had in Mystic. We sat outdoor with our dog. Our server Steve was excellent. We started with a couple very tasty Espresso martinis, followed with a glass of house cab, and a couple house Manhattans... all excellent. For food, I had the fish feature and it was very good. My wife had the mussels and they were very good, she was disappointed that there wasn't bread with it but Steve to the rescue with some toasted bread. We've dined here many times over the years and always had positive experiences, which makes this visit especially upsetting. From the moment we arrived, the woman who identified herself as a "manager" appeared visibly irritated and unwelcoming. Her demeanor set a negative tone right away, and unfortunately, it only got worse. At one point, my four-year-old was simply walking to the bathroom and made a small amount of noise -- normal behavior for a child and nothing disruptive. She turned and "shushed" him, then looked around at other tables with an expression that clearly conveyed annoyance that a child was present. When I addressed how inappropriate and unprofessional that felt, instead of apologizing, she doubled down and laughed in my face. That response alone guaranteed we will not be returning. Mystic has many wonderful restaurants that welcome families and treat guests with kindness. I strongly encourage ownership to take a hard look at who is representing their business on the floor -- because based on this experience, the person managing that evening came across as deeply unhappy to be there, and that energy is felt by guests. Is that really who you want representing your restaurant? We truly used to enjoy coming here. Sadly, that won't be happening again. read more

We finally made the stop for a birthday dinner, and I can't believe I have been missing out on this amazing spot for so long. The ambiance is very classy and feels upscale. Their menu is thoughtful and has many vegetarian options. We ordered a few appetizers and some pasta entrees and they were all INCREDBLE! Above all, their service is unmatched. Last year I visited Mystic for an extended weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and came across Bravo Bravo (or Bravo ovarB as one sign said). After trying the food there it became obvious how appropriate the name was. We tried a variety of apps, entrees, desserts and drinks and were not disappointed in any aspect. My friend ordered the Paloma and instantly became a fan! In fact, she ordered 3 of them that night. I opted for the seasonal Blueberry Thyme fizz cocktail which was a drink with complexity where the experience at the beginning was different from the finish. Some of the memorable dishes were the burrata app, the whipped goat cheese app and the special entree of a short rib and fried egg on top of a bed of Israeli couscous. I liked the way the spices were used to enhance the natural flavors here while adding accents of their own. Looking forward to having another meal here next time I'm in Mystic. read more

My friend and I got our table (reservation.) our husbands were a few minutes late. We ordered wine and then they came. First of all you have to put all your orders in at once, appetizer and entree. That was ok. However when we asked for a few minutes to look at the menu our waitress said bc the men were late we only had so long to order. The time between ordering and delivery was horrendous. No promptness or concern. A cocktail or appetizer can only last so long. More to follow once the meal comes. Caesar salad was less than hoped. This salad has been one to which I have established a comparison. For years I have thought fondly of the Bravo Bravo Caesar. This time, although the dressing was good, it was drenched in large shavings of Parmesan. Completely unsatisfactory and a sign of gross incompetence in the kitchen. Who can't get a Caesar salad right? When I asked for a refill of my club soda, I was abruptly waived off by the waitress.... Yeah....yeah. The refill came after the meal was finished. Meatball appetizers were descent. Short story- service and food quality- not coming back until there is a change. I give them not a gentlemen's c, but an absolute d. We came here for my wife's birthday. Got there early to have a couple of cocktails during happy hour and the bartenders were incredibly pleasant and engaging. Drinks were good and they poured strong one which we like He then said to have dinner and Ali our server was very efficient and incredibly nice. We had the clams casino and calamari for appetizer and they were wonderful My wife had the bolognese for dinner and I have the scallops with lemon risotto one of my favorite risotto's ever. This was a great place to have lunch in downtown Mystic. They also have parking which is a big plus! We were seated pretty quickly but even on a Sunday afternoon in off season (January), the restaurant was pretty packed! The restaurant makes all their bread and pasta in house. The meal started with complimentary bread which came with olive oil and a delicious roasted pepper/bean dip. We loved the bread, it was toasty and warm. The bean dip was unique and so good! The pasta fagioli soup was nice, it was just a little different than I expected. Usually the beans are left alone but they blend them into the soup here, so it has a little thicker texture which didn't bother us. It had a nice Smokey taste, maybe from ham or bacon? We ordered the tomato fettuccine and linguine with clams to share. My fiancé preferred the tomato fettuccine and I preferred the linguine haha but both were great. The tomato fettuccine has a lobster cream sauce, pieces of lobster, and fresh mussels and scallops. All the seafood was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed the white wine sauce with my linguine and my clams were good too. Definitely a solid place in town for Italian if you're in the mood! read more

Wonderful! Okay, I'm a tourist and I have only visited once. But you probably are tourist and looking for a place to eat in Mystic, so my recommendation is relevant. Bravo Bravo has great food, leaning a little towards Italian, but don't expect red checkered table cloths. It has a good vibe: high top tables and perfect lighting really set the mood. This is more a couples/date place than a family restaurant. Staff was both friendly and helpful. A little bit of the city in Mystic, a little less New England and a little more urban. Here's the thing. The food is delicious so kudos to the chefs but the manager Candia who checks you in has the most miserable look on her face. Never smiles or greets anyone warmly. It makes the start to your experience just irritating. She rolls her eyes at people who she has to get by and literally has the worst attitude. I've seen more culinary creativity from two vagabonds cooking over a trash can fire. I tried several menu items. Half the menu is stuck in the 70's or 80's when thick goopy sauces were the rage, overdone pairing of classics will leave you much less than surprised. Tastes like most sauce bases are store bought, out of a pale, made with good ole' disodium insonate & disodium guanylate, Mmmm flavor enhancing additives.
